Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Tempering Muscles and Bones

A set of Soul-Locking Needles, about two fingers thick, lay on the table.

Aizen , however, picked up the Black Fiend Gloves he had just purchased from the Wisdom Mall.

These gloves appeared as if cast from steel, with a metallic texture, yet felt surprisingly light when held.

Aizen examined the gloves with a look of wonder.

They appeared as though forged from iron—how could one wear such gloves? And if worn, how would his hands move freely?

After a moment’s contemplation, Aizen instinctively channeled his internal energy into the gloves.

Immediately, something astonishing happened: the gloves, initially as hard as iron, suddenly became much softer, almost like leather.

Aizen was slightly taken aback.

He infused a bit more energy, and the gloves softened further, feeling like an animal’s skin in his hands.

He couldn’t quite discern the gloves Sorcery—like metal yet not, like leather yet not.

The gloves weren’t large, but once he wore them, they stretched like rubber to fully cover his hands, fitting like a second skin.

Aizen opened his hand, clenched it into a fist, and found it very comfortable, with no sense of restriction as his muscles moved.

It felt as if he wasn’t wearing anything at all.

He touched his sword’s hilt, and the tactile sensation was clear—almost indistinguishable from bare skin.

This meant that wearing the gloves wouldn’t interfere much with his sense of touch.

"Shing!"

The Curtana Sword unsheathed, its blade shimmering like a deep green spring in the room before quickly dissipating.

Aizen moved his wrist and lightly slashed his own palm with the sharp blade.

The force wasn’t strong but could certainly cut through skin and flesh.

However, as the sword made contact, it felt like it struck porcelain, emitting a faint sound, with no pain at all on his hand.

The Black Fiend Gloves were unscathed, and naturally, his hands were entirely unharmed beneath them.

Aizen increased the force, this time slashing down with full strength.

"Buzz!"

This time, the sword struck with a fierce intent.

If the gloves failed, this cut would sever his hand. Yet, with a "clang" and a flash of sparks, Aizen’s eyes widened.

His hand merely trembled slightly, without any pain.

The Black Fiend Gloves now showed a faint scratch on their black surface, but besides that, there was no other damage, and his hand was perfectly intact.

Seeing the scratch slowly fade away, Aizen had a thought and channeled more internal energy into the gloves.

Instantly, the scratch disappeared, leaving the gloves completely restored.

This was a self-repairing weapon—a mid-tier sixth-rate piece, indeed worth the cost.

However, Aizen understood that the Black Fiend Gloves must have limits.

As the system described, they could block any sixth-Rate weapon or lower, but a fifth-Rate spiritual weapon would likely shatter their defense.

He put away the Soul-Locking Needles, removed the gloves, applied Bone-Strengthening Powder on his body, and began stretching and strengthening his muscles with a series of strange, challenging movements.

For example, he leaned back entirely, planting both hands on the ground, stretching his body into a taut bow shape.

Then he tried reaching his legs with both hands, threading his head through his legs, and, with a powerful jerk, rotated his entire body in midair like a rubber ball,

activating his muscles and bones through the movement.

The difficulty of these exercises was obvious; at present, Aizen could only manage to stretch his hands to the floor, his body held in a bow-like tension.

He wasn’t yet able to reach his feet.

This was the basic exercise of the "Demonic Body," the foundational entry-level technique of the Heavenly Demon Body.

The Heavenly Demon Body had four prerequisite techniques, with the Demonic Body being the simplest of them.

Aizen performed these flexibility-testing moves, fully activating his muscles and bones.

His joints crackled, and his spine emitted explosive sounds like gunfire.

After finishing the set, he was drenched in sweat, and the Bone-Strengthening Powder was entirely absorbed and refined.

He felt his bones strengthen further.

At this rate, even accounting for the reduced effectiveness of the Bone-Strengthening Powder later on, he estimated it would take only about two months to complete his bone-strengthening and reach the magus body Blood-Refining Stage.

After training his flexibility, Aizen picked up a prepared wooden stick and, using only a faint layer of internal energy for protection, began striking various parts of his body with force.

This exercise toughened his resistance to strikes and enhanced his external Sorcery skills.

The faint internal energy protected his muscles and bones from injury, while the impact drove the energy into his flesh and bones, further strengthening them.

Half an hour later, Aizen stopped this self-torturing practice.

Despite the internal energy protecting his body, it only shielded his muscles and bones from damage; the pain still transmitted through his nerves.

This repeated battering was excruciating, and only those with strong wills could endure it.

For this reason, very few outer disciples had trained the Demonic Body technique to perfection.

After instructing a servant to prepare bath water, Aizen tested the temperature, then sprinkled a full packet of Bone-Strengthening Powder into the water.

He had five packets, which should be sufficient to help him reach the peak of the Bone-Strengthening Stage.

The water began to change color, bubbling as the powder dissolved.

This was his medicinal bath. Having just activated his muscles and bones, it was the perfect time to absorb the effects.

Aizen stripped bare and entered the bath, his muscles contracting and expanding with each breath, subtly engaging his bones and tendons.

After half a stick of incense’s time, the water cooled, its color faded, and Aizen’s pores began to exude fine beads of sweat.

These beads carried impurities from within his body, and his bones felt a slight itch.

He sensed the beginnings of "pill toxins" settling in his body—this residue had no immediate effect but would eventually hinder his foundational strength, posing an obstacle in breaking through his cultivation barriers.

The following day, a disciple came on Viggo’s orders to inform Aizen that the outer disciples from the other main courtyards had arrived.

Aizen learned that he wasn’t the only one sent from the Western Courtyard—two other fierce fighters had also come.

These two were none other than the Western Courtyard’s top disciples on the Golden Ranking: Alester, ranked seventh with his "Chasing Death Sword," and Simon, ranked ninth with her "Scarlet Claw."

Aside from these two, the Eastern Courtyard had also sent disciples worth noting.

Three disciples had arrived from the Eastern Courtyard: two outer disciples and one "Black-Clad Disciple."

This Black-Clad Disciple was well-known within the Heavenly Demon Clan, with many outer disciples having heard of him.

He was none other than the sword-obsessed, famed "Enchanting Sword"—Gidon!
