Transmigration To Magus World-Chapter 87: The Deadly Phosphorus Fire Toxin
"Poisoned Needle Rain!"
As the swarm of black shadows suddenly assaulted them, cries of alarm erupted among the group.
At that moment, the hidden weapon had already reached Monument-Splitting Hand Jack (燕秋).
In a flash, Jack’s strength as the fifteenth-ranked on the Gold Rankings became apparent.
Almost as soon as he heard the sound of the wind, his figure darted aside.
However, the area covered by the swarm of black shadows was vast. Although Jack managed to evade most of it, he couldn’t avoid everything. With an angry roar, he waved his palms.
The group felt a surge of scorching wind burst forth as Jack’s palms moved. He didn’t use much force, but his palm strikes unleashed a powerful energy, the result of his blood vitality working in tandem with his internal energy.
He intended to blast away the incoming venom-laden projectiles.
A rapid string of metallic "ding-ding-ding" sounds followed as the remaining black shadows that he couldn’t dodge were swept away by his palms. Sparks flew in the air.
Jack retreated violently, his face dark and ominous. Looking at his hands, it became clear that he was wearing a pair of shining silver gloves.
If not for these gloves, he might already have been hit.
"Haha... Quick reflexes, but you’re as good as finished," came a cold laugh from within the temple.
Everyone’s expressions shifted, while Jack’s face suddenly turned pale. Sensing something wrong, he looked again at his hands. The silver gloves had somehow been corroded with pinhole-sized perforations.
A foul stench and wisps of white smoke emanated from the holes, while a searing pain began to penetrate deep into his bones.
Jack let out a heart-wrenching scream. Almost simultaneously, his hands burst into flames on their own, the fire spreading rapidly and emitting a nauseating stench.
"This is Phosphorus Fire Toxin! That bastard coated the Poisoned Needle Rain with this vicious toxin!"
Everyone’s faces changed drastically, and they quickly retreated further away.
By now, Jack’s hands had completely burned away. The fire had already reached his shoulders and continued to spread. Screaming in agony, he lunged toward Aizen, crying out desperately.
"Save me! Cut off my arms! Quickly!"
Aizen’s heart raced. The Phosphorus Fire Toxin was terrifyingly insidious. Once ignited through friction with air, it could corrode and burn through almost anything.
Seeing Jack rushing toward him, Aizen immediately sidestepped to avoid him.
"Help me!"
Jack’s bloodshot eyes burned with desperation as he flung himself toward Aizen. The searing heat of the flames, combined with the acrid smell of charred flesh and the toxic fumes, created an almost unbearable horror.
A cold glint flashed in Aizen’s eyes. Jack was beyond reason.
In an instant, Aizens figure flickered, and with a sharp "clang," a blade flashed in the air.
The Killing Blade Technique.
The simplest, swiftest blade technique designed solely to kill.
A flash of cold steel swept through like a crescent moon slicing across the night.
With a crisp "crack," the blade returned to its sheath, and Aizen stepped to the side.
With a dull "thud," Jack’s body collapsed to the ground.
The blade had severed Jack’s torso at the abdomen, cutting him cleanly in two. Blood, along with shattered entrails and internal organs, spilled messily across the ground.
"Ahhh!"
Jack’s agonized screams turned into ghastly wails. His face twisted in monstrous agony, resembling a devil. The fire had already spread from his shoulders, engulfing his upper body entirely, transforming it into a raging pillar of flames.
The nauseating stench of burning flesh mixed with the metallic tang of blood, carried on the wind to assault everyone’s senses.
Aizen exhaled lightly, a glimmer of killing intent flashing in his wolf-like eyes as he turned his gaze toward the desolate temple.
The previous scene had been truly harrowing. Aizen, who had not been far from Jack at the time, barely avoided the spray of hidden weapons due to his position at the rear.
Jack, however, had been too close and caught off guard, leaving him no choice but to meet the attack with his palms—an act that led to his grim fate.
If Aizen had instinctively used his palms to intercept those poisoned needles, who could say if his Black Fiend Gloves would have withstood the corrosive and fiery effects of the Phosphorus Fire Toxin?
The gloves were said to be impervious to anything below fifth-tier spirit weapons, but toxins weren’t spirit weapons. If they failed to resist, his fate would have been no different from Jack’s.
Counting on someone else to chop off his hands to save him? Impossible.
Everyone present, including himself, was a ruthless survivor, unwilling to extend such mercy.
Even if he somehow survived, a mutilated body would only make him easy prey for the others. There was little doubt about that.
Thus, while Aizen remained wary, his mind was also filled with a cold determination to kill the cruel and cunning Ryven.
The other eight stared at the charred upper half of Jack’s corpse, the acrid stench of burnt flesh wafting into their noses. Their expressions were anything but pleasant.
Wade, in particular, looked so grim that his face seemed to drip water. His heart pounded with fear.
Jack had been stronger than him, yet had perished here. While it was Aizen who delivered the killing blow, the true culprit was the Phosphorus Fire Toxin.
Wade thought back to the two times he had ventured into the temple alone, hoping to kill Ryven and claim the prize for himself.
He shuddered at the realization that Ryven hadn’t used the toxin on him then.
Otherwise, Jack wouldn’t be the one lying dead now—Wade would have preceded him.
"Haha! What a spectacle of comrades killing one another. A fine death indeed! I, Ryven, am right here in this temple, and the Breakthrough Pearl is in my hand. So, who among you dares to come in?"
Ryven’s mocking voice echoed from the desolate temple, dripping with derision.
The outer disciple of the Skyforge sword Clan clearly lacked the demeanor of a righteous Sorcery artist. Using something as heinous as Phosphorus Fire Toxin placed him no higher than the demonic sects in his methods.
Hearing this, Aizen’s thoughts immediately became clear. No wonder everyone wanted Ryven dead—he possessed a Breakthrough Pearl. Aizen’s heart burned with desire.
Though the pearl was useless to him at his current stage, it would become a priceless treasure once he reached the late stages of the Magus Body Refining Stage .
At that stage, Sorcery artists focused on Blood Refinement, which involved both refining their blood and using their robust internal energy to nourish their acupoints, gradually clearing them to prepare for advancement to the Innate Magus Stage .
Clearing acupoints and meridians wasn’t easy.
Using internal energy to forcefully break through acupoints left nearly incurable hidden injuries, damaging one’s foundation and making further breakthroughs much harder.
On the other hand, strengthening one’s foundation and nourishing acupoints with powerful internal energy allowed for smoother breakthroughs.
However, as more acupoints were cleared, internal energy became increasingly tied up in maintaining them, making further progress exponentially harder.
This was why many warriors at the peak of the Magus Body Refining Stage were unable to advance to the Innate Magus Stage.
Over time, various treasures were discovered to enhance the chances of clearing acupoints, and the Breakthrough Pearl was one of them.
This rare item came from the eyeball of a deep-sea monster fish. When exposed to light, it solidified into a glass-like substance. Upon being crushed, a liquid secreted from it.
Drinking this liquid and using it in tandem with internal energy to nourish the acupoints greatly increased the chances of successful breakthroughs within a limited time.
The pearl was extremely rare, effective only upon first use, and highly sought after.
Now that Ryven held one, it was unclear if he had already used it.
Regardless, knowing about its existence meant Aizen had no choice but to fight for it.
