Chapter 600: Chapter 283: Power of the Same Level

Within the Mirror Maze, composed of numerous mirrors, a figure clad in gray-black Soft Armor and wielding dual swords lay on the ground. Various Mirror Cards were embedded in his body. Some joints of the Soft Armor were dented and damaged. The fatal wound was a Mirror Card driven directly into his brain.

Alka emerged from a mirror behind the figure. He gazed at the fallen enemy. This dual-sword-wielding opponent was the one Alka had faced on the second level. Just as he had anticipated, this opponent’s strength was at the Six Spirals level. However, Alka’s superior strength allowed him to dispatch the enemy without expending much effort. Yet, he was still taken aback by the enemy’s prowess.

The surrounding environment vanished once more, reverting to the place he had first entered. He pushed open the heavy door again. After doing so, his condition was fully restored.

The enemy Alka was about to face had reached Second Stage Perfection, possessing Nine Spirals of strength. Based on the previous two battles, this would undoubtedly be another top-tier opponent. Alka vividly remembered his own strength at the Nine Spirals level; he had only recently advanced beyond that stage. He felt a sense of anticipation. What kind of strength could an enemy at this stage display?

As Alka entered, giant trees shot skyward one after another, while rocks, dirt, and weeds erupted from the surroundings. In an instant, Alka found himself in a primal jungle. It felt unusually real. He could even sense the fragrance of plants and the earthy scent in the air, as if it had rained not long ago.

Is the terrain itself being used against me this time? Alka couldn’t help but think wryly as he leaped onto a tree, using its branches. After observing his surroundings, he detected no suspicious movements or enemies. He jumped again, landing on another large tree. Alka moved like a monkey between the trees. This time, the enemy didn’t initiate an attack. With every move, he left a Mirror on concealed spots among the branches to help him observe any activity in the area.

However, even after a good while, Alka found no trace of the enemy in the jungle. He began to slow his pace, conserve his stamina, and maintain his condition. He started to deliberately place Mirrors in various locations to monitor and gain control over the entire environment.

The entire jungle was deathly silent; apart from the slight rustle of leaves in the wind, nothing else could be heard.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of something rushing through the air behind him. Alka reacted promptly, the Mirror he’d placed earlier giving him a warning. He instantly leaped down from the branch. After landing lightly, he looked at his thigh, where three bloody scratches had appeared. The enemy’s speed is incredible! The scratches showed dark green traces—clearly, they were poisoned.

A dagger appeared in his hand, and he unhesitatingly carved away the poisoned flesh from his thigh. Liquid Mirror enveloped the bleeding wound. The pain sharpened his senses. Alka frowned, vigilantly scanning his surroundings. A large amount of pink mist began to spread through the area.

The enemy is hidden, exceptionally stealthy, and difficult to detect. Its attacks are also laced with poison. A stealthy Hunter of the jungle? Evidently, judging by the previous attack, it’s not a humanoid enemy. I can’t find any trace of it. It’s constantly watching me, deliberately avoiding the Mirrors. Very clever. It only reveals itself for the instant it attacks, then immediately conceals itself again.

Alka moved forward cautiously, his body low.

Suddenly, an explosion sounded from behind. A Mirror Card Alka had hidden exploded. Several Water Chains shot out, binding the enemy and allowing Alka to finally see what had ambushed him.

It was a leopard-like creature, entirely emerald green, allowing it to blend seamlessly with its surroundings. Three sharp force claws extended from its front paws, emitting a faint green glow.

This trigger-trap Mirror Card really works wonders at times like these! Alka couldn’t help but smile.

Just as the enemy was bound, it instantly vanished from the spot. The Water Chains that had bound it now thrashed about in confusion. The leopard-like creature had been firmly bound by them just moments before, yet it had suddenly vanished.

Alka watched as the creature disappeared. He squinted slightly. Impressive. It actually has a teleportation ability, and a high-priority one at that. What kind of Second Stage being can master such an ability? he couldn’t help but inwardly grumble. This forest environment severely hinders my Mirror Maze. Clearly, they’ve countered the Mirror Maze I used in the last fight.

A Mirror Surface materialized over his face. Alka’s expression remained unchanged, as if he were merely wearing a mirror as a mask. The Mirrors he had hidden throughout the forest began to slowly rotate, helping him survey his surroundings. The surrounding tree branches, in particular, were now dotted with Mirrors.

The trial’s mechanics shouldn’t allow this creature to escape. It must still be figuring out how to kill me.

The stinging pain from the wound on his thigh made Alka frown. The poison seems to be spreading after all. Quickly cutting away the flesh still left a trace. This poison... It’s truly insidious. I can only feel it numbing my nerves. If only Matilda were here. He could feel a slight numbness creeping into his right thigh, and it was beginning to spread.
