Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 608: Reflecting on Trial and Growth
Simon’s failure was self-evident. Jason had advanced to the Third Stage, but his growing Crystal Dragon hadn’t fully matured. Naturally, it didn’t provide the expected power feedback. Relying on long-range sniping and some offensive tactics, Jason inevitably failed when targeted. After all, he had only recently reached the Third Stage. Neither his Spells nor his other skills had kept up.
Julia, on the other hand, was essentially a support role, and she hadn’t completely adapted to the Treasure she previously controlled. She hadn’t had time to develop it, let alone integrate it into her own system. Moreover, that coin Treasure seemed similar to Simon’s, not suited for frontal combat. This also led to her failure.
As for Lucilia, she was the closest to success. The doll’s body gave her a strong advantage, but her petite stature became a disadvantage under the trial’s deliberate targeting. Additionally, her Treasure needed group combat to exert its full effect, which was almost nullified in the trial. Unless she could gather the power of other dolls to empower herself. But Lucilia refused. She thought it was just a trial, not worth harming her legion members. She would rather intensify her training to improve her own strength.
Matilda, needless to say, her combat skills were truly poor, and everything else about her was completely healing-related. Without a Treasure, failure was normal. Juanlu failed for the same reason.
However, failure wasn’t without its rewards. Everyone had returned to the campsite they had set up earlier. They sat around the campfire.
"I believe that after this trial, you’ve all discovered your respective problems, correct?" Alka said, looking at the group.
The others nodded; it was true. Although the Tower of Trial created enemies designed to target and attack them, its nature as a trial undeniably helped them clearly and intuitively discover their biggest weaknesses. The enemies created weren’t meant to deliberately or fatally target them, but rather to make them aware of their own shortcomings.
For those who had not yet met the instructor, the most important thing at this stage was to elevate their strength to the required level. Otherwise, they wouldn’t even qualify to meet the instructor and advance further. And the three who had met the instructor were even more eager to learn with him.
Alka mainly hadn’t even sorted out his offensive methods, so he had no great understanding yet. But from what Chadite and Pororo said, it was clear they were indeed learning techniques that could greatly enhance their power—techniques unheard of before. These were techniques from 30,000 years ago, from a glorious world where the Divine were widespread. Anyone with insight could clearly see how exceedingly precious and powerful such techniques were. This also strengthened everyone’s resolve: they had to reach the necessary tier to meet the instructor.
"Because of this Tower of Trial, I think we might need to stay in this place for some time," Alka proposed.
According to the Tower of Trial’s schedule, they could undertake a trial once a week. This was a rare learning opportunity. Most of them were self-taught, especially in combat, relying purely on trial and error. Now that systematic learning was available, how could they possibly pass up such an opportunity?
Everyone nodded in agreement with Alka’s proposal; almost no one refused.
"Then let’s disperse for now. We’ll continue the trial next week. During this period, you are free to do as you please," Alka announced.
After all, each person had different ideas about what to do. However, they could still help each other with training.
Alka submerged himself into his Dream Realm. What he needed to do first was sort out his battle strategies and simplify his chaotic combat system.
He appeared within his Dream Bubbles. The Dream Bubbles had already undergone a drastic change; phantoms were helping him organize them. Alka floated into the air, constructing a training ground mid-air, and entered it alone.
Upon entering, his clothing became light, and he sat cross-legged in the center. Alka controlled the Mirror Surface, letting it float out, and placed it beside the Dream Catcher. He simply detached himself from the two Treasures, removing their influence and enhancements on his state. Magic Power gathered from his hands. The gathered Magic Power turned into a pink mist, accumulating in his palm.
...Spirit, indeed.
This was indeed the area he should focus on. The Dream Realm is spirit.
Alka himself was already highly integrated with the Dream Realm. Even his soul possessed reinforcement and talent in this aspect. His power in the Dream Realm was an entire stage higher than in the outside world. This meant his spirit was a stage above others of the same level—a ridiculously advantageous edge. Normal individuals, even abnormal ones, couldn’t achieve this. Alka had arrived at this state through a series of fortuitous circumstances, which now made him feel somewhat fractured.
Therefore, he had to suppress his strength within the Dream Realm. He needed to shift his power and system more towards the spiritual aspect. Perhaps this would help ease the feeling of being fractured and prevent him from feeling overly repressed in the Dream Realm.
So... how should I proceed? Alka wondered, looking at the Mirror Surface he had placed to his side. It simulated creatures of the Dream Realm and was, in itself, an origin of the Dream Realm.
...
He seemed to have grasped a clue. He just needed to spend time in the dream, using his abilities there to verify it thoroughly. Then, he would extend outward from this point, ultimately constructing the path he needed to advance.
With a goal in mind, Alka’s actions became swift.
