Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 646 - 298 The Church of the Endless Sea_2
"Holy Mother bless you. You seem to know us?" Alka asked, somewhat doubtfully. Hearing this, it seemed they had been waiting for his group for some time.
"No, we just received news at the port. There was a bird-headed ship, built in the Church’s style."
"We didn’t expect you to come directly here."
"If you have any questions, please come inside and we can talk."
Clearly, information about them had reached here a long time ago. From the way he spoke, it seemed most areas with churches in the Endless Sea might already know about them.
Thinking about it, it makes sense. They were likely the only Church members to have left the Homeland Sea in recent years. It was inevitable that some parish would encounter them. Not to mention, their ship carried figures like Alka, a Saint, and Chadite, a former Preparatory Saintess.
Upon hearing this, Alka and the others, who were about to ask something, nodded and proceeded to the side of the church. Even though it was nearing night, many followers were still praying and worshiping at the front. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Arriving at the side, they pushed open a small door, and everyone went inside.
Upon entering, they could feel a strong presence of Holy Light Energy.
In the grand hall at the center of the Church, a statue of the Holy Mother stood proudly. Many members of the Church were coming and going within the hall. The moment they entered, quite a few members glanced their way.
"Please follow me. The Bishop is waiting for you."
Saying this, he led Alka and the others through winding paths to a room and knocked gently.
"Please come in," a voice from inside responded.
The Priest opened the door and remained outside.
The group entered. They saw it was a reception room, simple in decor yet dignified. The group walked over to the sofa and sat down.
Alka casually scanned the room, paused for a moment, and then his gaze inadvertently moved away.
An elderly man, who appeared to be over fifty years old with half-gray hair, sat nearby, smiling at the group.
He must be the Bishop here.
"You three are from the Homeland Sea, aren’t you? You must be Chadite."
Upon hearing the Bishop’s words, Chadite was slightly surprised. She hadn’t expected this person to know her name.
"You know me?"
"Haha, of course. However, you’ve changed quite a bit since you were young. If the news hadn’t mentioned a young lady named Chadite, I wouldn’t believe you’ve grown so much. Time flies."
Hearing this, not only Chadite but also Alka and Jason felt a bit puzzled. The Bishop’s words clearly indicated that he not only knew Chadite but might even know her quite well. But Chadite’s expression made it obvious that she genuinely didn’t recognize him.
"It’s normal not to recognize me. I just didn’t expect you to look so ladylike after growing up. I certainly misjudged."
Hearing this, Chadite blushed slightly. She immediately realized that the Bishop before her must have seen her in her childhood. It must have been when she was around ten years old, or even younger. Anyone who had seen her then would hardly have expected Chadite to become so ladylike after growing up.
Of course, at least on the surface.
"Back when you were just a little thing," the Bishop chuckled, gesturing, "I even taught you, along with the other children from your group."
Seeing the height he indicated, Chadite nodded in understanding. That must have been around the time she had first entered the Church, perhaps a year or two in. Back then, various people had taught them. However, these teachers never stayed for long.
Apparently, Chadite still couldn’t recall who he was. She had only roughly guessed the period when he might have known her.
The Bishop didn’t seem to mind. After chatting for a bit and becoming more familiar with everyone, he turned to Alka and Jason.
"You must be Alka. The Holy Mother favors you greatly."
Alka nodded.
Then he looked at Jason, frowning slightly, a hint of doubt in his eyes.
"There’s something unusual about your aura. Have you signed a contract with some entity? An ancient... world... Hmm... No need to explain. It’s not a bad thing."
With a mere glance, he had almost completely understood Jason’s contract with the Crystal Dragon. The more one understood, the more one realized the Crystal Dragon’s extraordinary nature.
Alka still remembered what Jason had discussed with him before. According to Alka’s instructor, the dragon-descendant, the Crystal Dragon was also known as the Prism Light Dragon. It was also known as the Dragon of Salvation.
"Seeing you arrive safely in the Endless Sea, I believe His Eminence the Archbishop will be very pleased."
"Archbishop?" Alka was puzzled by the title.
He couldn’t quite tell if the Bishop was referring to the Archbishop of the Homeland Sea or the one in the Endless Sea.
"Haha, it’s normal to be confused," the Bishop said. "The Holy Mother Church has only one Archbishop."
Indeed, it was just as Alka and his companions had speculated. The Four Gods Church certainly possessed some method to bypass the barriers of the forward sea routes. This allowed their Church members to travel unimpeded between the two regions.
"Alright, let’s leave it at that for now. You can rest well at the Church during your stay. If you wish to learn anything, you certainly have the qualifications to do so. The Church members will assist you. Although this isn’t a particularly important location, we still receive some of the major news from the Endless Sea here."
