Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 688 - 312 Regional Map_2
"No problem. This will allow us to gain their trust and also hone our attack skills. Why not do it?"
"Just remember to protect yourselves. We only need to attack from a safe distance."
"After all, we're just here to help, not to throw our lives away."
Upon hearing Alka's words, everyone nodded without objection, as it was indeed the case. Providing help during such times of war was indeed the easiest way to build trust. This was also their main motivation for taking certain risks to come here. As they sought Treasure here, they would inevitably need the help of the locals. Help during moments of crisis earned trust and respect most easily.
"Speaking of which, we haven't seen any buildings like churches. Aren't there any?" Juanlu asked, somewhat puzzled.
All along the route they had traveled, they hadn't seen any churches, though they had seen some clergy, including the young girl who had led them here and the formidable elderly woman. Judging from their attire, they were likely clergy.
"No idea. We'll find out later," Pororo said indifferently.
After chatting for a while, Alka clapped his hands and addressed everyone. "Alright, let's take a break. We've walked for so long, we deserve a good sleep."
After setting up the necessary precautions and checks, everyone chose a room to rest. Even so, the building still had several empty rooms available, a testament to the vastness of this wooden villa.
「About a week passed.」
With the arrival of additional reinforcements and the assistance of Alka and his group, the island was finally defended successfully. Subsequent battles resulted in minimal loss of life. Not far off, the gray-black miasma at the edge of their vision began to dissipate, indicating the enemy's attack had utterly failed. This also signaled that there would be no new waves of attacks; the next war was likely years away. For the next few years, they could finally have some peace.
As the enemy retreated in formation, their footsteps fading along with the dissipating miasma, the soldiers who had fought for so long finally cheered loudly, declaring victory in this war.
The land in front of the island, along with the debris of floating plants and undead corpses in the farther marsh, began to be cleared. The bloody remains hanging on the vine walls were also removed.
Fortunately, although these enemies were undead, they had mingled with plants, which represented life. Even their corpses no longer carried the usual rotten, foul stench. Instead, there was a medicinal or even fragrant scent from the broken leaves and branches of the plants. These remnants would serve as the best nutrients for the plants in the fortress and the vine walls.
They returned to the Three Trees Seat, cleaned off the grime, and rested in the main hall. After a week, they had become familiar with most of the people on the island. They successfully gained the trust not only of the island's inhabitants but also of the official forces of the Land of Spirits, provided they didn't violate anyone's rules.
Helping throughout an entire week of war wasn't just lip service. Without their help, while the island might not have been completely overrun, the resulting losses would have been far greater and unacceptable in the current situation. Additionally, Alka and his group had gained a clearer understanding of this eerie place.
"So, what should we do next?" Chadite asked Alka, while sitting on her rattan chair.
Alka sat by a small wooden table, upon which lay a rough map of the Sea of Moisture. He was observing the relatively safe area they were currently in.
[Land of Spirits]
[Treasure Quantity: White - Abundant, Blue - Abundant, Orange - Scarce.]
[Area Difficulty: Insane]
[Area Description: Battle of the Six Gods, Radiant Fragrance—Matilda's Fall.
The Divine has not fully perished; the Holy Mother is assisting Her revival. Area Difficulty for Holy Mother Church members will be reduced to Normal.]
The first thing to note was the quantity of Treasures. There were no gold-colored ones; the only item of significance was an orange Treasure, an item at the Scepter level.
The problem, however, wasn't anything else; rather, it was the somewhat awkward map they possessed. Their map wasn't an area map but a world map. The world map depicted several regions, showing general information about an entire sea area. While area maps provided the least information, in certain situations, they were immensely useful. An area map would show light spots where Treasures were buried, directly indicating their locations. Although it wouldn't provide specific details, the positions of these light spots were the most crucial information.
Alka and his group would only need to find suitable locations and then draw up detailed maps to precisely identify the Treasures represented by those light spots, along with more specific information.
Due to the unique structure of the Sea of Moisture, they had to consider the possibility that the orange Treasure they sought might not be on the island itself, but rather within the marshy region where plants and vines intertwined. If it was just on the island, their workload would indeed be very simple.
