Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 709 - 319 Land of Fragrance_2
It was exactly as they expected.
The group chatted casually as they moved forward, their speed increasing significantly. Soon, more people were coming and going around them. Most of them resembled merchants. They used larger versions of the long, giant fish that Madru had previously employed as beasts of burden, dragging large, concave wooden boards to transport goods. These water carriages traveled back and forth across the entire swamp.
Alka watched this scene, somewhat puzzled. Isn't this a bit excessive?
It wasn't just people transporting goods; various ordinary citizens and some individuals in finer, more expensive-looking attire riding the water carriages were all present, and most were headed in the same direction.
"Why is it so lively here?" Jason asked, puzzled.
They hadn't even caught sight of the so-called Land of Fragrance yet, but there were already so many people.
"Don't you all know? The Blooming Festival is coming soon; it's our biggest annual celebration. Everyone is preparing for it."
Hearing this, the group nodded in understanding. Although they had learned about this festival from the Jade Fortress, they hadn't expected it to be so grand.
Even before they saw the city, a fresh, elegant floral scent wafted towards them from afar. As the fragrance drifted into their noses, it relaxed them.
"What a wonderful fragrance," Julia couldn't help but say from her seat on the boat.
"Isn't it? That's the floral scent from the Land of Fragrance," the soldier captain said with a smile, his voice filled with immense pride.
The floral scent grew increasingly fresh, elegant, and potent.
At last, the group laid eyes on the so-called Land of Fragrance. A massive flower, shooting up towards the sky, captured all their attention. It stood at least twenty to thirty meters tall. Its jade-green stem and leaves supported a tightly closed bud composed of light pink, white, and a hint of blue. The sheer size of the giant flower was a stunning sight for Alka and his companions.
From a distance, the entire periphery of the island appeared to be planted with flowers of all shapes and sizes. Massive blossoms even took the place of large trees on the island. The closer they got, the more they could appreciate the enormous size of the central flower.
"What is that flower?" Jason couldn't help but ask. The giant flower was so conspicuous that it naturally made Alka and his companions curious.
"That's the symbol of the Flower Fairy, the Celestial Flower," the soldier captain said with a devout expression.
Alka gazed at the flower. The symbol of the Flower Fairy... Could that be the means for the Flower Fairy's revival? But isn't that a bit too blatant? After all, this is the revival of a deity. To reveal the means of revival so openly... Are they not afraid of enemies? Forget it. Why am I even thinking about this?
Alka shook his head, dismissing the thoughts. It's not my business. It's best not to meddle in the affairs of gods; people like us are just small fry.
With the soldier captain's help, they docked their boat on the island.
"Would you like me to assign a guide for you?" the captain asked.
"Of course, that would be wonderful," Alka replied.
The soldier captain smiled and waved to the soldiers behind him. A young soldier quickly ran over, nodded after receiving instructions from the captain, and then approached Alka and his companions.
"Greetings, sirs. My name is Rasemi. I will be your guide through the city. If there's anything you don't understand or want to know, please feel free to ask. I've lived in this city my whole life."
Hearing this, the group nodded.
"Sirs, why don't we find a place to rest first?" Rasemi suggested.
Alka nodded. "No problem."
The group walked on the island. Every house here, much like those they had seen previously in the Emerald Fortress, seemed almost seamlessly integrated with nature. The main difference, however, was that this island had no large trees; instead, each house was a gigantic flower. Blossoms of all kinds and colors bloomed everywhere. Filled with a sense of wonder, the group continuously turned their heads, taking in the sights.
They observed the island's environment, its architecture, and even its residents. The residents, in turn, watched them with curious eyes. This place was known to be quite insular, rarely seeing outsiders. Any outsider who managed to reach the island was considered worthy of respect; at the very least, they had to be affiliated with the Holy Mother Church.
Pororo's giant, shark-like appearance was particularly eye-catching, conspicuous even from a distance. Then there were the items Alka and his companions carried, and the long trail of small figures following them.
A little girl wearing a flower crown and holding a flower-shaped magic wand stared at Pororo's shark-like form, pointing at him with her wand.
Pororo, seeing that the little girl didn't seem afraid of him, suddenly opened his blood-red, gaping maw, revealing rows of sharp teeth, and let out a terrifying roar.
"ROAR!"
"AHHHHH!"
Pororo's sudden action startled the little girl; she screamed and quickly ran away.
"HAHAHA!" Pororo boomed with laughter at her reaction.
Matilda, standing beside him, noticed the residents casting glances their way, and her face flushed slightly. She quickly grabbed Pororo's arm with her two left hands and dragged him away.
