Trials of the Abyss-Chapter 692: One of the Four Sovereigns
Chapter 692: One of the Four Sovereigns
Li Yuqing appeared in the boundless bizarre mist.
Condensing her sword light into a protective shield around her body, she kept her limbs from coming into contact with the corrosive bizarre mist.
She knew she could be trapped in the bizarre mist for a long time and had to preserve her strength as much as possible. The moment she fell from the starry skies into the bizarre mist, she knew she was lost.
Endless bizarre mist surrounded her, and she could not locate the Thunder Abyss or sense the boundary wall. Although anxious to return to the Abyss, she did not know her way back. There was no special artifact she could establish a connection with or use to orient herself within the Abyss.
I can only wait for Pang Jian to find me.
She was unaware that she had landed a distance away from the Thunder Abyss, but was wise enough not to wander, firmly believing that Pang Jian would come for her.
This was her first time leaving an abyss, and she did not understand the peculiar nature of the bizarre mist. Consequently, she did not know that entering the bizarre mist would cast her to a random location.
Fortunately, despite this lack of knowledge, she still managed to make the wisest decision.
Even if she did not catch the attention of the Nether Abyss envoy, Pang Jian would have eventually found her.
A silver bee suddenly appeared behind her and said with the voice of the envoy, "I can take you to Pang Jian. After you breached the Thunder Abyss's barrier, he hurriedly followed after you."
"Who are you?" Li Yuqing frowned.
"I am a Nether God. You could say I'm a friend to your human race." The silver bee chuckled. "If you don't trust me, I can always just bring Pang Jian directly to you."
"No need. I'll go with you," Li Yuqing said, pursing her lips gently. "Lead the way."
She had been listening absentmindedly on the sidelines while Pang Jian consulted Lei Ying about the Nether Abyss and the Nether Gods within the Thunder Abyss. Thus, when she saw a silver bee with the divine consciousness of a Nether God imbued within, she immediately assumed it had something to do with Pang Jian.
It's just a bee. How much trouble could it possibly cause?
The Nether Gods usually left the Nether Abyss using their divine souls, and Li Yuqing felt she had no reason to be overly concerned about a mere divine soul.
"It's remarkable that you could break through the barrier of the Thunder Abyss with your Immortal Realm cultivation," the silver bee praised.
Li Yuqing remained silent. With a thought, she summoned the Pearl of Fate and gently held it in her palm, trying to establish a connection with the kind being from beyond to explain her predicament.
Lately, whenever she encountered questions about the Dao of Fate, she would consult that being. That being would patiently address her queries.
After her father's death, she would even confide her grief and frustration whenever she felt distressed. During such times, that being would remain silent, simply serving as a quiet and attentive listener.
While she had no trouble communicating with that being while in the Thunder Abyss, she was unsure if the same would hold true in the bizarre mist, so she decided to give it a try.
Through the Pearl of Fate, she smoothly established a connection with that being and said, I've left the Thunder Abyss and entered the bizarre mist. I plan to return to the Abyss and ascend to godhood through Fortune, but I'm lost in the bizarre mist.
I have no sense of direction and have also heard that powerful beings lurk here... frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
Li Yuqing laid out all her troubles.
A clear will, laced with many strands of insight, informed her that the pearl itself could guide her back to the Abyss. It also reassured her that she need not worry about the Outer Gods beyond the bizarre mist or fear the powerful beings lurking within it.
Li Yuqing was filled with astonishment at the message.
That being selflessly imparted profound insights into the Dao of Fate to me, and continually guided me using the Pearl of Fate. Can they truly help me return to the Abyss? Do I really not need Pang Jian to lead the way? she wondered, doubts still lingering in her heart.
Shooting through the bizarre mist, she gradually increased her speed to the point that even the silver bee started to lag behind.
She flew for a long while, until eventually, Pang Jian and a skeletal figure with wings came into view.
The Pearl of Fate in Li Yuqing's hand shone brightly.
Two clusters of ghostly blue flames trembled in the eye sockets of Pan Di's skeleton before silently flying out, merging into one and transforming into a ghostly blue figure.
The tall, emaciated man resembled the Ghost Race, except with more slender and elongated proportions. Neither his facial features nor the finer details of his body were distinct, but he was clearly gazing at the Pearl of Fate in Li Yuqing's hand.
The Nether God let out an awkward laugh before respectfully saluting the Pearl of Fate. "I didn't expect this girl to have caught your eye. She's a human from the Abyss after all. Oh, my apologies. I forgot you never cared about such things."
On the journey here, the Nether God had not noticed anything special about the pearl through the silver bee. It was only when the Pearl of Fate radiated its brilliance that he realized everything.
A great being in a mysterious region of the starry skies concealed its aura within the pearl, observing to see what the envoy of the Nether Abyss intended to do.
The envoy, having guessed the identity of the mysterious being, dared not show the slightest negligence and hurriedly explained the situation with fear and reverence.
His reaction, however, left Li Yuqing completely bewildered.
Pang Jian was equally stunned, his face full of astonishment as he gazed at the Pearl of Fate in Li Yuqing's hand. It seemed the opportunity she had encountered in the Thunder Abyss was far more extraordinary than he had imagined.
"This is Pang Jian of the human race, and the World God of the Abyss. He bears the World God Pendant. Our leader wishes to meet him. Would you mind?" asked the envoy of the Nether Abyss.
There was a brief silence, then a rush of gratitude from the envoy.
The envoy smiled. "I'm glad you don't mind. Thank you. I have no idea what our leader's intentions are. I'm merely responsible for bringing Pang Jian over."
It was clear that the Nether Abyss envoy was using the pearl to communicate with that mysterious being, but Pang Jian and Li Yuqing were both rather baffled by the contents of the one-sided conversation.
Not long after, the Pearl of Fate ceased radiating its brilliance.
"Rest assured, she will safely return to the Abyss. You don't need to worry about her," the envoy of the Nether Abyss said to Pang Jian. After a brief hesitation, he turned to Li Yuqing. "It doesn't matter if you're in the bizarre mist, the starry skies, or the domain of an Outer God. With that great being's favor upon you, you can proceed without fear!"
His tone was filled with envy.
At this point, even if Li Yuqing were slow-witted, she would have realized her backer was a towering figure of unimaginable power in the distant starry skies.
"You're certain she can traverse the bizarre mist?" Pang Jian asked, surprised.
"Absolutely!" the envoy of the Nether Abyss replied firmly.
Pang Jian smiled and calmly nodded at Li Yuqing. "I know you're eager to return to the Abyss. Go ahead. We'll meet again there soon. I was originally planning to guide you back, but since you can return on your own, I won't accompany you."
Li Yuqing's eyes turned sharp as she stared at the Nether God. "I have a feeling that he's up to no good."
"I'm merely an envoy!" the Nether God hurriedly defended.
Pang Jian remained unbothered. "It's fine. I know what I'm doing."
"Alright then, I'll see you in the Abyss." With that, Li Yuqing took off on her sword.
She was well aware that she could not delay any longer. Her ascension to the True God Realm drew ever closer, and she desperately needed to return to the Abyss so she could harness its Fortune.
Only after she disappeared did Pang Jian turn to the Nether God. "Who's on the other end of that pearl?"
"One of the four Sovereigns, the God of Fate."
