Trials of the Abyss-Chapter 731: The Nether Abyss
Chapter 731: The Nether Abyss
"You go in first. I'll follow right after." The World God possessing Pan Di's skeleton pointed toward the boundary wall with a pale, bony finger. "The Nether Abyss will surprise you."
Pang Jian raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"You'll understand soon enough," the elder World God said cryptically.
"Alright."
Without further hesitation, Pang Jian flew past the skeleton and toward the boundary wall.
There was no resistance. His Immortal Divine Soul passed through the boundary wall like slipping into water, and he appeared within the Nether Abyss in the blink of an eye.
The first thing he noticed was that there was no bizarre mist!
In all the other abysses he had entered before, crossing the boundary wall meant first facing the bizarre mist. Only by passing through it could one glimpse the landscape within.
However, with the Nether Abyss, a strange world immediately unfolded before his eyes the moment he passed through.
There did not appear to be any separation between layers or worlds within. The fragmented lands and vast continents of the Nether Abyss floated at varying heights, uneven and chaotic, with no apparent structure or order. Due to the sheer scale of the Nether Abyss—far bigger than the Abyss—these fragmented lands and continents did nothing to obscure the light.
There was no suffocating barrier of demonic energy like in the Fifth World of the Abyss, nor were there leaden gray clouds that perpetually dimmed the sky, as in the Fourth World, blotting out the sun, moon, and stars.
The entire Nether Abyss had an unobstructed view of the sun, moon, and stars above.
Glancing down, he saw that the lowest layer of the Nether Abyss was a vast blue sea.
The endless sea stretched across the entire bottom of the Nether Abyss just as the bronze continent filled the bottom of the Abyss.
Scattered across the sweeping sea were patches of land, star-like in their distribution, some so small they looked like grains of rice from where he hovered above.
Pang Jian took a deep breath. Body trembling in surprise, he exclaimed, "Spiritual qi!"
This was the only other abyss he had encountered that contained spiritual qi!
As he silently attuned his senses, he felt spiritual qi drifting down from the sky above the Nether Abyss, descending toward the sea floor and into the scattered fragmented lands and continents.
The spiritual qi here was both similar and yet strikingly different from the Abyss. The deeper one went, the richer the spiritual qi became.
Those living either in the sea or on the islands floating upon it were likely the most powerful beings within the Nether Abyss.
Unlike the Abyss, those living further down could absorb far more spiritual qi than others.
On a nearby fragmented land, a ship made from beast bones rose into the air, only for the energies within the fragmented land to unexpectedly blast it apart.
The explosion drew Pang Jian's attention. Focusing his divine sense, his expression shifted once again.
Several figures flew from the wreckage, all resembling the human race. Some had black hair and dark eyes, others had golden hair and blue eyes, and one even had red hair paired with emerald-green irises.
There were no signs of special bloodlines within their bodies, and their physiques appeared naturally weaker. Only their soul fluctuations radiated an astonishing intensity.
"Kill!"
"Slaughter these wretched Nether Race!"
Massive demonic beasts surged from the fragmented land alongside warriors of the Titan Race bearing three heads and six arms. They charged straight toward the figures Pang Jian had taken for fellow humans.
The Nether Race? Pang Jian was taken aback. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
"Kill!"
Battles were also erupting across the other fragmented lands and continents further out. The clash of weapons and cries of slaughter filled the air without pause.
The Demon Races, the Celestial Race, the Ghost Race, and the Titan Race, alongside mighty beasts and strange creatures of every kind, joined forces to hunt down the Nether Race.
Pang Jian watched in silence, slowly piecing together the truth.
Those being hunted had clearly lived extravagantly. Though few in number, the Nether Race had enjoyed absolute dominance over the Nether Abyss.
The other races had lived as their vassals, servants, and slaves, forced into endless labor. They mined rare ores, cultivated spirit herbs, forged weapons, and constructed the Nether Race's luxurious dwellings.
Beautiful girls from these other races were made to serve them with careful attention, providing them with pleasures, fine wine, and delicacies. In short, the Nether Race was treated as nobles of the highest order in the Nether Abyss, enjoying every luxury imaginable.
However, it seemed the World Gods had incited the many enslaved races to rise against the Nether Race, and they had since started to hunt down the once-revered lords of the Nether Abyss.
The flames of rebellion had only just been lit, yet vast swaths of fragmented lands and continents were already swept into the chaos.
"Surprised, aren't you?" A voice as sweet as honey drifted up behind Pang Jian.
Pang Jian did not turn around, easily perceiving her presence with his divine sense.
A beautiful mermaid clad in a sheer veil that revealed just enough of her alluring upper half appeared alongside Pan Di's skeletal remains. Evidently, the older World God had sent Pang Jian in first to wait for this alluring World God of the Sea Race to arrive.
"My name is Hai Wei. I'm a World God like you. I come from the Sea Abyss," she introduced.
"The Nether Abyss is quite different from the other abysses. I admit, I'm quite surprised," Pang Jian said flatly.
"I heard you're from the Abyss. Are you its World God?" Hai Wei asked.
"I am," Pang Jian replied. Turning toward the older World God possessing Pan Di's skeletal remains, he asked, "So, this retaliation against the Nether Abyss starts with the Nether Race warriors dwelling out of the water?"
The World God nodded. "Correct. The truly powerful warriors and divine beings of the Nether Race reside deep below, on the seafloor. It would be unwise to face them on their own turf, where they've reigned for millions of years. So we're forcing them to come out."
Pang Jian fell into silent contemplation at his words.
Meanwhile, Hai Wei lowered her gaze to the deep sea at the bottom of the Nether Abyss. A searing hatred gradually surfaced in her bewitching eyes.
Clenching her pearl-white teeth, she said angrily, "When the Nether Race invaded my Sea Abyss, they didn't just plunder our treasures, they also stole our life seeds—our young heirs, our future bloodline!
"Some of the sea-dwellers living in that sea probably have no idea where they truly come from. They likely believe they've always belonged to the Nether Abyss. The Nether Race needs to pay for what they've done!"
