Situated in the centre of the city was a certain library that was frequented by various individuals on daily bases.

There were people from all walks of life that entered into this big structure to seek knowledge and to get the answers to the questions they could not get from the normal books that they find in the various places of the various towns.

This was a special library.

And it was not just because its size, the way it was made all the way back when the empire itself was established or because of the fact that various important books that others could not get their hands on usually were stored in this place.

There were various things in this library that were unique and there were various things in library that needed protection.

However, there was a secret to this library that only a few knew about.

And that secret was something that was going to be the starting point for... something interesting.

The library was old but there was a kind of allure to this place that was beyond the flow of time. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

The marble that this place was carved from seemed to have been immortal since even the carvings that were done on the walls of this place ages ago was still just as beautiful as it might have been when the workers that had created it were done with them.

There were various things in this place that were physically attractive and the inside of this place, even after being old and filled with elements that were age old, there was a scent to it that was as new as the finest fruits picked from the best trees.

Today, something was going to go down in this library that would be known all throughout the history of this empire.

And the start of this whole thing...

"Hmm?"

"Hello. You dropped this."

A young lady handed a simple coin to the person wearing a big coat and walked away after bowing to him.

"Ah, thanks-...?"

He wanted to thank her even though he didn’t think that coin belonged to him but, by the time he had turned back, the young lady had walked all the way towards the door of the library so he didn’t try to chase her.

"Hmmm. I’ll have to return this."

This was a normal occurrence to him, to, he just out the coin in his pocket and decided to deal with it later and went back to browsing through the books on the shelf before him.

{ "Go, child." }

However, he should have at least checked if that coin was in fact, a coin in the first place or not.

"Tsk. There are bugs in here as well hun?"

A stinging pain hit his finger first, and then... though he did not see it, tiny insects resembling spiders crawled out of his pocket.

"Hmm... it’s getting hot suddenly."

The creatures walked all the way to his neck area, some of them even crawled all the way inside his ear and from there, without him noticing, they made their way to his brain.

"Yawn~. I’m... sleepy... all of a... sudden."

He lost his consciousness not long after that but unknown to his own mind, his body was still standing in the middle of the library.

He was a high ranking mage and an executive of the mage association that had a great influence and was here just to pass some time and enjoy a break that he has gotten after a long wait.

And, since he was unrelated to the these people, he was going to walk out of this place with his life intact.

The targets that were dealt with by the spiders and the creatures that had similar powers to these spiders walked out of the library on their own and soon, they will find themselves in places far away from this place, with the memories of how exactly they got there.

There were individuals in the library that suddenly had to go to the washroom and there were a lot of them for some reason. So many of the washrooms soon got full and the others had to go out to get fresh.

It wasn’t anything suspicious that many people got the urge to pee or take a dump all at once, but since the reasons for that were different and there were many people showing these symptoms that were completely unrelated to one another, there was also no outbreak.

There were many parents in this place whose children were present with them and, what does a child do when they find something that is more fun than walking around with their parents in a library?

"Jay? Jay! Where are you?!"

They chase after that fun thing and leave their parents.

And then the parents go after the children to find them...

Additionally, if the child shows any signs or symptoms of being sick, they would have no choice but to take their beloved to the doctors or to the clinics.

The library was a big place and there were various things in this place that needed the attention of various people.

Knights were situated on many points throughout the three floors of the building.

There were special units that looked after the unique books that were located in the various places.

This was no normal library so, various officials and people of different backgrounds, mages, knights of various nobles, adventurers, and even the general public came here for various things that they or their children needed.

This place was famous so tens of thousands of people frequented this place on daily bases.

And since it was open to all that wanted to seek the knowledge of the books with it, as well as since it was situated in the very middle of the capital city, there would be no one that would consider this place to be a secret Databank and operational area for the imperial forces.

There was something that will trigger the start of something that will be something that would have marked the middle point of this game.

[{ "Team A, initiate." }]

In a public place filled with various people, in a generally active place where no one would have any interest in attacking, how would the common folks treat a sudden appearance of monsters?

"Hmm? Did you hear something?"

"What do you mean-...?"

"Hmm? What did you suddenly stop talking? What happened?"

"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

All of a sudden, in various parts of the library, screams, shouts, and loud noises were heard all around the same time.

"Monster! There’s a monster here!"

"Get back darling! Get back here!"

"Hey!!! Get back hereeeeeeee!"

"Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

The guards, the knights, even the workers of this palace were all alienated all at once by the sudden screams, but what followed shocked them even more.

"AWOOOOOOOOOOO!"

"KGHRAAAAAAA!"

"AUIIIIIIIIIIIII!"

Cream that were certainly no human banged the quite library filled with books and bookshelves.

"Monsters!"

"Beats have appeared! Someone helpppppp!"

"Help my daughter! Someone! Pleas help her!"

Creatures, monsters of various kinds. Beasts of various ranks high and low appeared out of thin air and started attacking not the citizens, but the book shelves that were filled with books.

However, the commotion it created was more than enough to get the attention of all the authorities of this place.

-Weeeeeeeee-oooooooo! Weeeeeeeeee-oooooooooo...!

Announcements were heard all throughout the building, knights, mages, and those who could fight these creatures came down to deal with the creatures while those who knew something wrong was going on, followed the present procedures and started the emergency protocol.

However, they weren’t going to get away from those hiding in the shadows.

-Thud!

Those in charge of the third floor had the responsibility to act as soon as something unexpected happened in any part of the library, and those who had caused this commotion knew it better than even those who had to follow this protocol.

"Hey. Help me-."

-Thud.

-Thud.

-Thud. Thud. Thud.

-Thud!

"What are you two doing! Have you lost-... what the hell?"

The employees who looked after the important place, the secret elevator leading to the underground floor situated under this building, was located on the third floor of this Library.

Whenever something happened here that needed their attention, the employees were supposed to work together and give their lives to protect this entrance. A number of them were supposed to go down and inform the staff underground what was the situation here and take orders from them on what they needed to do.

It was a simple response and since this wasn’t the first time something like this was happening, they had good enough experience with these kinds of situations.

But, that experience wasn’t going to be of much use this time.

"What the hell...?"

There were twenty of them, all excellent knights or mages. People handpicked by the empire for their skills that were trained to be perfect for this particular job.

[{ "All units, prepare for the second stage." }]

But all these strong, brave trained employees had fallen unconscious on the ground by the time the shadows materialised into physical humanoid forms that wore strange clothing and masks with numbers and masks with the mark of Clubs that one usually saw on the cards.

They were strange individuals... but all the higher beings that were seeing this broadcast recognised them as the Clubs of [Fool’s Gambit].

An organisation that had already become well known all throughout this world, as well as the organisation that currently possessed an entire Flying Fortress.

A weapon so powerful that... no country in this world would ever dare go against them.

Or make an enemy out of them, in simplest terms.
