Twisted Dreams-Chapter 229 - 199: Qin Ming and Xie Qilin
Xie Qilin said:
"Just bring me something."
He is a monk, and he’s never had alcohol in his life. He thought about having a drink before leaving the Imperial Capital the next day.
This trip to Changbai Mountain would be extremely perilous.
The last time he drank with the God Creation Organization, he was actually drinking water his subordinates had swapped in.
Qin Ming handed over a glass of wine.
Xie Qilin took a sip, and the rush of alcohol made him cough violently.
Qin Ming laughed and began conversing with Xie Qilin:
"You seem like you can’t handle alcohol."
Xie Qilin nodded in agreement with Qin Ming’s statement:
"I am a Buddhist Layman, alcohol is forbidden."
Qin Ming looked at him with respect:
"Buddhist disciples are admirable. I’ve loved Buddhist stories since I was a child."
Xie Qilin placed the Buddha Beads on the bar and scoffed:
"What’s so good about Buddhist disciples?"
Qin Ming said:
"Wisdom, leading people towards kindness!
I really like Buddhist concepts like karma and reincarnation."
Xie Qilin shook his head:
"The current Buddhist Sect has been corrupted since a few hundred years ago."
Qin Ming became interested:
"What do you mean by that?"
Xie Qilin, whose tolerance for alcohol was quite poor, replied drunkenly:
"Let me give you an example with the karma and reincarnation you mentioned.
The Buddha once took his disciples to a house.
Inside, a woman was breastfeeding her child.
At that moment, a stray dog came seeking food and the woman broke its leg with a stick.
Then a mosquito came to suck the woman’s blood, and she slapped it dead.
The Buddha said to his disciples:
That stray dog was the woman’s father in a previous life.
That mosquito was the woman’s mother in a previous life.
The child in the woman’s arms was, in a previous life, her enemy who killed her parents."
This is a classic story from the Buddhist Sect.
Qin Ming said:
"I’ve heard this story. Its meaning is that people are ignorant of reincarnation.
This ignorance makes the woman nurse her enemy, break her father’s leg, and kill her mother.
It also warns people to possess virtues of life and a compassionate heart.
The stray dog and mosquito you encounter today might have been relatives in a past life."
Xie Qilin scoffed:
"You seem quite knowledgeable."
Qin Ming smiled sheepishly:
"Am I talking too much?"
Then Qin Ming, puzzled, asked:
"So is there something wrong with this story?"
Xie Qilin sipped his wine and said:
"If the Buddha was truly compassionate, he wouldn’t use a woman’s chastity and filial piety to illustrate his supreme theories."
Xie Qilin looked directly into Qin Ming’s eyes:
"If it were you, would you stop the woman with the mosquito, chase away the stray dog?
If it were you, would you watch with indifference as the woman acted unfilially, only to later boast to your disciples of your correctness?"
Qin Ming was taken aback.
This person was a bit odd, yet intriguing.
Xie Qilin downed the rest of his drink and said:
"What I can’t stand the most is the Buddhist notion of reincarnation.
It’s laughable how they believe: 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The suffering a person endures in this life is punishment from a previous one.
The virtues accrued in this life are for the enjoyment of the next.
What does my previou life have to do with me?
If the Buddha’s theory is correct, I’d say:
The ’me’ of the next life must suffer for the wrongs of this life, and that’s unfortunate for that ’me’ of the next life.
Anyway, the ’me’ of the next life, won’t be named Xie Qilin; it has nothing to do with me."
As Xie Qilin spoke, his eyes were firm, glinting coldly.
His trip to Changbai Mountain was bound to seal his infamous reputation.
Qin Ming thought for a moment and said:
"Perhaps those stories are just meant to guide people towards goodness.
Who knows how many people abstain from wrongdoing out of fear of karma."
Xie Qilin chuckled:
"You’re quite naive."
Right then, the sound of a horn came from the door.
Xie Qilin looked toward the entrance:
"My ride has arrived, I need to go.
I can tell you’re a rare good person. What’s your name?"
Qin Ming smiled:
"Qin Ming."
Xie Qilin’s expression changed.
The old abbot once said he had three nemeses in this life.
Each of their names contained the characters Fan, Yi, or Ming.
Xie Qilin stared intently at Qin Ming.
This person looked sickly, and carried not the slightest trace of Spiritual Power.
Just an ordinary person.
Xie Qilin sighed in relief.
He realized he had been overly cautious.
The one with the name ’Ming’ was clearly Wei Ming from the Security Administration.
He chuckled at himself, knowing he couldn’t possibly eliminate everyone with ’Ming’ in their name.
Xie Qilin stood up:
"It was pleasant talking to you, I’ll come back again."
...
Near Jinmen, Bohai Sea.
A bald eagle soared above the sea.
The eagle was absurdly large, resembling a small dark cloud.
A single flap of its enormous wings caused a series of massive waves on the sea’s surface.
On the eagle’s back stood a boy in black with long hair, pridefully.
The Crow stared at the calm sea, and a surge of demonic energy erupted!
In an instant, fish and shrimp gathered in the sea panicked and fled.
Soon, a vast shadow appeared on the sea’s surface.
Anyone with a deep-sea fear, if boating at this time, would likely be terrified out of their wits.
"Boom!"
The sound of an explosion echoed over the sea.
A gigantic, serpentine figure, dripping with water, shot out from the sea.
Half submerged, the part above the water was level with the Crow on the bald eagle.
"Roar!"
A terrifying dragon’s roar, enough to shatter eardrums, resonated over the ocean.
The sound waves seemed to take solid form, producing ripples on the water’s surface.
The Crow’s eyes shone:
"So you’re the Dragon!?
I am the Emperor ruling the world’s Demon Race!
As a Dragon, you’re a Demon too!
A Demon should be under my command!"
The Dragon, with its high intelligence, understood the Crow’s words.
Since its birth, the Dragon had hunted continuously in the deep sea.
It established its position in the food chain through relentless hunting of marine creatures.
The result was clear: since its birth, no creature had ever warranted its serious effort.
A mere bird and a human being—how could they expect a Dragon to submit?!
The Dragon possessed many forms of power.
Apart from the Biological Engineering and technological power given by Six Paths Biotechnology, it also had Supernatural Power.
The Power of Water Element, Power of Fire Element, Power of Wind Element, and Transformation Power.
The Dragon roared, leaping out of the water.
It activated its Transformation Power.
The Dragon’s size rapidly expanded, becoming a sprawling mountain range on the sea’s surface!
Its mouth opened, releasing searing flames!
The Crow snorted coldly:
"Rebellious traitor!"
The magic snake emerged on the Crow’s body.
The magic snake shielded against the Dragon’s flames.
Seeing its attack fail, the Dragon roared furiously.
The Power of Wind Element and Power of Water Element activated simultaneously.
A terrifying waterspout formed from the sea surface.
The bald eagle screeched fearfully.
Its feathers became waterlogged, making it hard to maintain stability.
The Crow unfurled its wings, commanding the magic snake to tear through the waterspout, advancing towards the Dragon behind it.
After traversing the waterspout, the Crow witnessed the Dragon’s face revealing a human-like smile, and a booming voice echoed:
"Sea Prison!"
The ocean raged.
Countless water screens rose into the sky, enveloping the Crow completely.
The water screens were oddly shaped, forming convex lenses.
Sunlight and flames heated the space inside the water screens to extreme temperatures.
Thick smoke billowed within the water-screen prison.
The Dragon’s eyes shimmered with a blue light, as the prison formed of water screens began pulling the Crow into the deep sea.
