After tossing a hardbound diary-like object to Gu Xi, the corpse closed its eyes.
In the next moment, Gu Xi felt as though something had left, and the staircase before him no longer reeked as it did before.
Looking down at the hardbound diary he had just acquired, Gu Xi noticed that no prompts were displayed.
It appeared that this was neither equipment nor a tool, but a genuine personal diary.
This piqued Gu Xi’s curiosity about the situation before him. Proper people don’t write diaries, and yet, this corpse, having died so miserably, still kept one?
Opening the diary, the first thing Gu Xi saw was blood flowing out from the pages.
Amidst the blood, Gu Xi finally made out the contents of the diary.
This diary recorded some information about a player with the title Blood Flame Ghost Hand.
This player, named Wu Wenxing, hailed from Bianfeng City, a city primarily of Undead Mages, although it didn’t produce Death Knights. Over there, Undead Mages mainly specialized in Blood Magic.
Due to some connection with the undead yet deviating from its realm, Wu Wenxing inadvertently acquired the Death Lord, one of the Three Divine Skills, at Level 3.
Later, at Level 5, he grasped the Death Incarnation, and at Level 7, he mastered Death City. While preparing to advance to Level 10, he heard about the situation here and came over.
However, his luck wasn’t as good as Gu Xi’s; he was ambushed by Zong Heze while exploring the castle.
In the end, Zong Heze nailed him to the staircase of the tower with a Secret Nail, torturing him daily just to summon fresh undead from his flesh and blood.
All the bones on the staircase were new undead summoned using his flesh and blood, serving as Zong Heze’s long-term food source.
Before dying, he attempted to negotiate with Zong Heze, offering access to Death City and providing various foods.
However, Zong Heze did not trust him and sealed all his powers. Before Zong Heze’s death, he would never be able to leave this place, not even in death.
And on this staircase, there were seven other Undead Mages who experienced the same fate as he did.
These individuals were the source of food that kept Zong Heze going alone, preventing him from going insane while trapped in the castle.
According to Wu Wenxing’s diary, once Zong Heze died, their restraints would vanish, allowing them to leave at any time.
That was why Gu Xi heard the corpse speak the moment he entered.
To express his gratitude, he left behind everything he had to offer for Gu Xi.
The latter part of the diary detailed some operational methods concerning the Death Lord and Death Incarnation, especially the Death Lord. He wrote quite comprehensively, including how to operate it alongside a Leadership Skill, and how to use it in tandem with Financial Skill, Diplomacy Skill, or Recruitment Skill.
There were also some combinations and details regarding skills, many requiring careful study to fully utilize, not merely possessing the expertise.
As for Death City, being the core secret within the Three Divine Skills, he didn’t elaborate much.
Gu Xi took note of these details.
However, he was more interested in coordinating these techniques with the Diplomacy Skill.
The diary noted that if the Death Lord is used in conjunction with the Diplomacy Skill, along with the appropriate training camps within Death City, neutral species could be converted into corresponding undead species under one’s command.
However, there were certain limitations to this conversion.
After all, not everyone wishes to become undead.
Only soldiers with an extreme sense of pursuit would opt to transform into undead and join.
The best conversions included Knights becoming Vampire Knights, Witches transforming into Vampire Princesses, and Mages turning into Corpse Witches or Witch Demons.
Elves were relatively easy to convert into undead, but their direction tended toward Ghosts.
This insight delighted Gu Xi, as it hinted at a rapid strategy for deploying troops.
Most importantly, it expanded the influence range of the Death Lord skill, allowing other normal neutral units to directly join the ranks.
Gu Xi pondered even further, as his situation differed from Wu Wenxing’s.
Gu Xi learned the Death Decree, which enabled him to acquire the Death Lord skill.
Over on Eldest Princess Anna’s side, there might be similar inheritances.
This diary opened a new perspective for Gu Xi.
Pocketing the diary, Gu Xi expressed gratitude to the corpse.
"Thank you."
The corpse, with only half its face remaining, smirked as it fell from the wall, landing heavily before Gu Xi.
Gu Xi turned around and realized it wasn’t an ideal time for Summoning.
It wasn’t that Gu Xi doubted his ability to successfully summon.
His success rate now exceeded a hundred, capable of summoning at will.
He simply didn’t want to waste such a good corpse.
With a turn, he instructed Luna, who followed him, "You handle it, take the corpse back."
Afterward, Gu Xi proceeded upward.
While ascending the staircase, Gu Xi realized Zong Heze, trapped in the castle for years, had become somewhat insane.
The arriving players didn’t provoke him, yet he killed and nailed each one here, using them as materials to attract fresh undead. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Continuing upward, Gu Xi found a player who had half their skin flayed to create a mural.
Upon seeing Gu Xi approach, the player even smiled at him.
"You finally made it up here. If you took any longer, I would have left early. It’s quite uncomfortable in this state.
When I leave, could you do me a favor and burn my corpse? I don’t want it to be used or gawked at.
Having been on display for so long, you understand."
"Of course."
Gu Xi glanced at the player nailed onto the wall in a peculiar position, understanding his intention.
"Haha, thank you so much. I can’t let you go empty-handed. Over the years, I’ve been idle and crafted something with the body, initially intended for desperate use.
But with your arrival, I doubt I’ll use it now. You should take it; it’s in the corpse heap beneath the candle over there.
Thanks, brother. We’ll meet on the battlefield again, and I’ll repay you."
After saying this, the player nodded at Gu Xi, closed his eyes, and like Wu Wenxing before, left his body.
After the player departed, Gu Xi turned and said, "Luna, handle it."
Having said that, Gu Xi approached the pile under the candle, pushed it forcefully downward.
Beneath the pile, a black heart was exposed.
As Gu Xi picked up the heart, it suddenly began beating.
