Chapter 132: HAZEL WAS NOT HAPPY

"You are not serious, right?"

Marcus confided in his close friend, Nelson, about his thoughts of quitting the crowd. Concern etched on his face, Nelson reminded him of the potential consequences of such a hasty decision.

"Think twice before you make a rash choice," he advised and looked concerned. "No one could get out from here easily."

Marcus knew about that.

"Do you think it’s worth it?" Nelson asked again as he took a swig of his drink. "You have been with us for so long. This is your life."

No, this was not the life that Marcus wanted, but yet it was indeed his life...

"Man... your girlfriend is out of your league."

Hazel hugged Yara tightly and nudged Nolu on the shoulder. "I miss you both," she said, a glimmer of excitement in her eyes. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

Yara responded with delight, while Nolu reminded Hazel not to disappear all of a sudden again. Her action put both of them into trouble.

"If you can tone down your urge to disappear, it will be very helpful," Nolu said in a calm voice.

"That’s exactly why I am planning to take you both somewhere fun," Hazel replied mischievously, sensing their wariness.

This time, she needed their help, and it would certainly make things easier.

"Did Mr. Leighton know about this?"

"He will know eventually, since you will report to him, right?" Of course, Hazel knew about that.

"Where are we going?" Yara and Nolu asked in unison, both puzzled.

Hazel returned to the Rose family home, bringing along her two bodyguards to collect Renna and pick up her ’baby’; she had to leave it behind because she couldn’t bring it for her honeymoon.

Renna’s face lit up upon seeing Hazel, and they shared a warm hug.

"I need your help. Do you want to come and live with me?" Hazel asked eagerly, revealing her plan, and Renna readily agreed. Hazel knew she would need Renna’s help even more during her pregnancy.

"I thought I would only see you a handful of times in a year."

Renna knew how bad Hazel’s relationship with her father was, and now that she was out of the house, she definitely did not want to come back if it was not necessary.

However, their reunion was abruptly interrupted when Dylan burst onto the scene. He confronted Hazel, expressing his discontent over her decision to take Renna away with her.

"She will not go anywhere," Dylan stated. He entered Renna’s bedroom after he learned that Hazel came to visit, but she went straight to Renna’s bedroom instead of greeting him first.

Dylan’s sharp eyes scanned the room and saw Nolu and Yara were there, which meant he couldn’t be rash with Hazel, or else he would get into trouble with Ranon Leighton.

For some reason, despite the way the marriage happened, that man dotted on his little sister so much.

"I don’t need your permission," Hazel replied sharply. "Renna has chosen to come with me."

"She works for this family, not you." His voice was very stern, as if he was holding a lot of anger and dissatisfaction.

But the issue ran deeper; Dylan was also irate about Hazel receiving ten percent of their father’s share, a point of contention that further fueled his anger.

"You manipulated Father to give you that share," Dylan hissed. "You have no right to be part of the company. You are leeching off my hard work."

"And you are profiting from my marriage." Hazel scoffed when she heard that, and she felt a soft kick on her rib; it seemed her baby was also upset. "You act like you are the one who has built the company; you are just a successor. Don’t overestimate yourself; you are not that good."

After the marriage, the company’s stock rose, and this was what Dylan had expected, but he was not happy to know that Hazel would receive the profit too.

"What’s going on here?" Logan poked his head from behind Dylan, and now they were all cramped inside Renna’s bedroom.

He came here because he heard Hazel visited.

Ignoring Logan’s presence, Dylan shouted back at Hazel; he was enraged. "You think you have a say in this?!"

"So, what makes you think you have any say in this?" Hazel challenged Dylan. She then looked at Renna. "Do you want to come with me, Renna?"

"You work for this house, Renna!"

Renna was in a difficult position, but she seemed to make her own decision. "I have worked for this family for decades, and now all of you have grown up; you will not need me anymore. I think I need to go where my service is still needed."

Taking care of Hazel’s baby would be a great delight for her.

"Back off, Dylan," Logan chimed in; his voice was stern. "You heard her. She chose to live with Hazel now."

Ultimately, Dylan retreated when his phone rang, interrupting the heated exchange. He looked like he was ready to murder someone and threw a nasty look at Hazel before he walked away to pick up his call.

"I cleared the way for you. As a form of gratitude, how about giving me your friend’s number?" Logan grinned once Dylan had left, a hopeful tone in his voice as he requested Olivia’s contact from Hazel.

"Find another victim, Bro." Hazel stood up and patted Logan’s shoulder. "She’s too good for you." With a smirk, she declined his request and left with Renna and her two bodyguards.

Arlo stared at the string of messages from Aubrey that filled his phone.

Each text dripped with frustration and concern, asking him when he would come back. Despite their heated argument a few days ago, it became clear that Aubrey still wanted him to be near her.

She hated him for what he had done, but she loved him so much as well.

Aubrey was willing to kill her stepsister and caused a great impact on their family standing in their community; that’s why there was no way she would let go of Arlo that easily.

Two days had passed since they resolved the issue in the factory; yet here Arlo was, avoiding Aubrey and choosing to go home first before finally making his way to the Lozens’ house.

Upon arriving home, Arlo found his brother, Michael, impatiently waiting for him. He couldn’t enter the house because Arlo had changed the password since he kicked Michael out.

Without hesitation, Michael confronted Arlo about River’s sudden disappearance. He couldn’t hold it back anymore. What Arlo said that night haunted him.

"Did you hurt her?" Michael demanded, his voice firm and unyielding, eyes glinting with suspicion. "I heard what you said while you were drunk. What do you mean by ’you killed River’?" He wasted no time.

Arlo felt the wave of anger rush through him. The mention of River’s name always sent a mix of emotions for him.

"I don’t know what you are talking about." He dismissed Michael with a wave of his hand, trying to downplay the serious situation. "I was drunk; what do you expect me to say?" His irritation was growing.

"I don’t believe you! You need to tell me the truth!" Michael hissed in frustration. "Did you hurt her?!"

Their relationship was already strained.

Michael and River were always close, as he saw her as a big sister that he didn’t have; thus, her disappearance created a great impact on him too.

It was a reason Michael felt compelled to get to the bottom of it.

"Shut up!" Arlo snapped, his temper flaring. In a moment that shocked them both, he raised his fist and punched Michael squarely in the face.

The force caught Michael off guard, causing him to stumble back.

But as Michael regained his balance, the bewildered look in his eyes was quickly overshadowed by a piercing fierceness, a killing intent that sent a chill down your spine.

"Fuck you, Arlo!" Michael cursed out loud. "Arsehole!"

The tension between them ignited into an all-out fight.

Michael was a fighter too, though he was not as good as his brother, but his anger made him lethal as he landed a few punches on Arlo’s stomach and chest. He also managed to tackle him down.

However, Arlo had gone through a harsh training with River and a few missions with her.

Beating Michael up was also Arlo’s way to vent out his pent-up anger with his situation. "Stay on your line, Michael!"

Arlo let go of Michael when he couldn’t stand anymore.

"If I hear you talk about it again, I am going to rip your mouth apart." Arlo didn’t raise his voice, but the threat was real.

Eventually, Arlo walked away from Michael and the confrontation as he headed towards the Lozens’ family house.

"I don’t want to go," Hazel sulked, a big part of her wishing for an escape from the confines of the dinner with Denzel.

Because there was something else she wanted to do.

"No, we need to go," Ranon said, giving her a comforting kiss on her hair. He had just helped her wash it. He kept his promise to take care of her hair so Hazel wouldn’t cut it.

Tonight, they were going to have dinner at the Leightons’ house. Hazel was not thrilled; neither did she look forward to meeting with them again.

"Be good; there is a lot of food there."

"Do you think I can be persuaded with food?"

Half an hour later, they were already on the road, and an hour after, they already entered the Leightons’ residence as Alfred opened the door for them.

And here they were.

Hazel was not happy.
