Chapter 1651 - What If I Insist on Getting Involved?

At the inn, Chen Fan naturally heard the various rumors about him circulating in the city.

He had no intention of standing out. He understood that the Demon Suppression lineage held immense influence here. One careless move, and eyes would be fixed on him even within the city’s boundaries.

Because of that, he deliberately avoided carving his name.

Still, the fact that he had reached the core of the Stone of Chaos using nothing but his physical body was already more than enough to stir waves.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but feel a little depressed. Did he have to go on the run again?

He had already braced himself for it. The moment his identity was exposed, he would flee without hesitation. The Demon Suppression lineage never sent weaklings. Each expert was more terrifying than the last. Once discovered, resistance would be meaningless. Running would be his only option.

A cautious voice sounded from outside the room.

“Sir, there are two guests outside hoping to meet you. May I ask if...”

Guests? Chen Fan was perplexed.

He didn’t know of anyone in Chaos City. Who would seek him out here?

However, considering they were asking for permission, rather than barging in, they were definitely not from the Demon Suppression lineage. He said, “Let them in.”

Soon, two figures walked in: a man and a woman. They were none other than the Sky Fire Merchant Guild’s young miss and that old servant.

“You are?” Chen Fan studied them carefully, his gaze sharpening.

Two Immortal King powerhouses.

“I am the daughter of the Sky Fire Merchant Guild’s guildmaster, Wu Hongxiu,” said the woman.

Sky Fire Merchant Guild?

Chen Fan immediately realized the situation. He shook his head and said, “Miss Wu, I already know why you came. But I have no desire to entangle myself in your troubles.”

“Please save our Sky Fire Merchant Guild!” Wu Hongxiu knelt down and begged without hesitation. The old servant behind her followed suit.

Chen Fan remained unmoved. His heart had long been tempered into cold steel. Such scenes no longer moved him.

“Miss Wu, it’s not a matter of refusal. You should know that every one of the top ten powers in Chaos City is guarded by a peak Immortal King. I may have some methods, but I am nowhere near capable of confronting beings of that level.”

“If that is your concern, then you may rest assured, Mister. Although the Demon Flame Merchant Guild is stronger than us, their guildmaster is only a peak mid-level Immortal King of the Blood Clan.”

“Even so,” Chen Fan replied, “I won’t gamble my life for your sake.”

“Please save our Sky Fire Merchant Guild this once, Mister. If you’re willing to help us, we’ll offer you a Purple-Gold Crystal Fruit.”

A Purple-Gold Crystal Fruit!

Though he had never personally seen one, he was far from ignorant. It was a natural treasure said to grow only in extreme environments. Consuming it could instantly push even an Immortal King to the pinnacle of their current realm, with a chance of directly breaking through to the next realm.

Had it been any other treasure, Chen Fan would have dismissed it outright. But a Purple-Gold Crystal Fruit was different. Even Immortal Kings coveted it. It was precisely what he lacked most right now.

If he could raise his cultivation level to the peak of the early-level Immortal King realm, he could fight a top-level Immortal King.

For the first time, Chen Fan wavered.

Wu Hongxiu continued, “I also know that you’re searching for a way to decipher the Stone of Chaos.”

“What? You know it?”

“No,” she admitted, “but I do know that the Stone of Chaos is linked to the Land of Chaos.”

“Land of Chaos? And what is that place?”

“It’s a mysterious space within the Stone of Chaos. You must’ve heard the rumors about it being a demon Sage’s sage artifact, yet no one has ever claimed it. The Land of Chaos exists within it. If you wish to uncover the Stone’s secrets, that realm may offer you an opportunity.”

“What does that have to do with your predicament?”

“Everything,” Wu Hongxiu answered. “There are ten keys to the Land of Chaos. Each of the top ten forces holds one. Without them, entry is impossible. If you assist us, you will gain free access to the Land of Chaos. Whatever you find there will be yours. Even if you fail to master the Stone of Chaos, the treasures within that realm alone would be worth the risk.”

Chen Fan’s eyes flickered. Admittedly, her proposition was indeed very attractive, especially the Purple-Gold Crystal Fruit. It could save him years of bitter cultivation, but he would have to expose himself to others for it, giving him pause.

Before he could respond, a loud commotion erupted outside.

“Esteemed demon guests, it’s improper to barge in like this,” the waiter protested, followed by rough, impatient shouting.

“Get lost! We’re going up. Since when do we need permission to move around?”

Immediately afterward, a wave of chaotic footsteps rang out. The door to Chen Fan’s room was kicked open. Several demons walked in, scanning the room. They saw Wu Hongxiu kneeling on the ground, and cruel grins spread across their faces.

“It’s you again, bitch! What, trying to recruit another honored elder? What else does your Sky Fire Merchant Guild have to offer? Are you planning to offer yourself? Hahahaha.”

The demon leader laughed maniacally, paying no attention to Chen Fan.

“You...” Wu Hongxiu grew furious; after recalling something, she restrained herself and merely clenched her teeth.

“Listen carefully,” the demon commander barked. “You and that useless old thing. Withdraw from the top ten forces immediately and hand over your Land of Chaos key. Do that, and I’ll spare you some suffering. Refuse, and I’ll make sure you beg for death!”

The demon commander hurled insults before bringing his attention to Chen Fan and said coldly, “And you, human, I think you still haven’t grasped the situation. Across the entire city, how many people dare to provoke our Demon Flame Merchant Guild? Her guild’s days are numbered. Open your eyes and think carefully. Don’t end up a corpse beneath my blade. I’ve slaughtered countless idiots who thought they were righteous heroes. Want to be the next one?”

Chen Fan’s expression darkened, and he said coldly, “What if I say I’m involving myself anyway? What exactly do you plan to do about it?”

Wu Hongxiu and the old servant, Uncle Lin, lit up with joy and shock.

No matter how much they pleaded earlier, Chen Fan had remained indifferent. Yet these demons, with their arrogance, had provoked him instead.

“If you want to get involved, then let’s see if you can walk out of Chaos City alive.”

Chen Fan laughed coldly. “You think I’m afraid to step into this mess?”

“Go back and tell your pathetic Blood Clan guildmaster this. This is me getting involved. Tell him to run as far as he can. Otherwise, he’s already a dead man.”
