Unrivaled Miracle Doctor: The God-Defying Demonic Consort-Chapter 134: Lord’s Face-Slapping Frenzy Begs for First Subscription (6)
"You still dare to speak!" Mu Lianrong immediately directed her criticism toward Mu Qingge.
Mu Xiong’s face was also gloomy. The tight corners of his mouth seemed to show that he was struggling to suppress the anger in his heart.
In his view, since Bai Xiyue’s father died saving him, the Mu Mansion was responsible for taking care of her for life. Unlike Mu Lianrong, he hadn’t thought of marrying Bai Xiyue to Mu Qingge. He simply felt that Bai Xiyue was like his own granddaughter. When she reached a marriageable age, finding a good family for her, with the support of the Mu Mansion, this poor child could have a happy life.
"Why wouldn’t I dare to speak?" Mu Qingge said calmly.
Her gaze slowly shifted away from Mu Lianrong and landed on Mu Xiong, as she said with neither humility nor arrogance, "Even if someone is to be sentenced to death, they should at least know why they are being condemned, right?"
Mu Qingge’s calm and composed demeanor took Mu Xiong by surprise.
In his stern eyes, there seemed to be a flash of doubt.
"Your grandfather is too lazy to speak to you, so I will." Mu Lianrong, comforting Bai Xiyue in her arms, spoke to Mu Qingge: "Let me ask you, you took Xiyue out and not only failed to take care of her, but also let her get hurt. That’s already a mistake. Afterwards, you left her halfway and focused only on escorting Princess Changle back to the mansion. Such disregard for priorities, is that what a man should do?"
Mu Qingge listened, narrowing her eyes, her gaze shifting within the slit.
She remained silent, but Mu Lianrong took her silence as an admission of guilt and proceeded to reprimand: "Princess Changle has hands and feet, and a large entourage of guards and maids accompanying her. Does she even need you to escort her? Xiyue grew up with you, even if you had no special intentions, she counts as your sister. How could you leave her in the clinic without a second thought?"
Without a second thought?
Mu Qingge’s gaze shifted gently, landing on Bai Xiyue, as cold as frost. The latter, however, still looked aggrieved and didn’t even glance at her.
She strode forward, confronting Bai Xiyue coldly, asking, "I ignored you?"
"You brat, what are you doing?" Mu Lianrong held Bai Xiyue tightly, interpreting Mu Qingge’s words as a threat to Bai Xiyue.
Mu Qingge lifted her eyes to look at Mu Lianrong, her gaze perfectly calm.
Mu Lianrong, startled by that look, softened her tone as she spoke again: "Do you know it’s because of your actions that made Xiyue feel like she was unnecessary, thinking she got in the way of you and the Princess, which is why she asked to leave the Mu Mansion voluntarily?"
Mu Qingge laughed.
But her smile was rather cold.
Looking at Bai Xiyue, she truly didn’t know whether she should give her a thumbs up.
Cutting the truth short and ignoring some processes resulted in another version of the story. After hearing this version, even she felt she looked like a scoundrel.
Did she assume she wouldn’t reveal the hidden truths she knew?
She thought that even if she didn’t care about her reputation, she still wouldn’t dismiss the reputations of Princess Changle and the Crown Prince, therefore opting not to reveal the truth?
She dared to assert that the Mu Mansion’s guards took a carriage to bring Bai Xiyue back from the clinic, something both Mu Xiong and Mu Lianrong were aware of.
However, in their understanding, Bai Xiyue had grown up in the Mu Mansion, and her father had done a favor for the Mu Mansion, making her closer and more significant than Qin Yiyao, both morally and emotionally.
Yet, all she did was leave the injured Bai Xiyue to the guards to bring back, while she went to escort Princess Changle, who was perfectly fine.
Such actions, in the Mu Family’s mindset, amounted to ingratitude.
