Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Enemies on a Narrow Road

"No worries, there will be other opportunities in the future," Fan Bingbing said with a smile, sitting on the soft bed. If a talent like Lin Kuang could work for her, it would be a fantastic opportunity, especially since she held him in such high regard.

"Alright, if there’s a chance in the future," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.

"Okay, let’s talk business," Fan Bingbing said, her tone shifting. "Are you free tonight? I’d like to treat you to dinner."

"Yes, I’m free," Lin Kuang answered with a smile.

"Great. Five-thirty p.m. at the Siegel Hotel. Call me when you get there, and I’ll come down to meet you," Fan Bingbing added.

"Sure. Five-thirty p.m. I’ll be there on time," Lin Kuang confirmed.

"Alright. I’ll see you tonight, then," Fan Bingbing said with a laugh before they both hung up.

"Hehe, Little Brother Kuang, who was that on the phone? Look at that blissful smile on your face," Lin Guo’er teased as she walked over from out of nowhere, her eyes twinkling.

"It was nothing, just a friend named Fan Bingbing," Lin Kuang replied honestly.

Hearing this, Lin Guo’er was taken aback. "Fan Bingbing? The international A-list actress who has a concert at the East Sea Stadium on Saturday night? Are you sure you’re having dinner with *her*?" she asked incredulously.

"Uh, I don’t know about any concert, but she’s definitely the one who called me," Lin Kuang said helplessly, seeing her skeptical gaze.

"Yeah, right. If you don’t want to tell me, just say so. Don’t make things up. Fan Bingbing invited you to dinner? You’re a terrible liar," Lin Guo’er said with a pout, looking slightly annoyed.

Shrugging helplessly, Lin Kuang insisted with an aggrieved expression, "Sister Guo’er, I’m not lying! I’m telling the truth." After all, he really wasn’t making it up.

"Hmph, I can’t be bothered with you. You jerk, Lin Kuang, just remember you have to take responsibility for me!" Lin Guo’er huffed, shooting him a look. She then walked over to Lin Kuang, brought her fiery red lips close to his ear, and blew a puff of warm air before sashaying away, her hips swaying seductively.

Lin Kuang’s heart fluttered. This fiery little vixen... Just you wait until I get my hands on you! he thought, then headed back to Liu Shilin’s office.

After sitting in the office for a while, it was four-thirty p.m., the end of the workday. Liu Shilin and Lin Kuang got up to leave. After saying goodbye to the group of beauties, Lin Kuang drove Liu Shilin home.

"Shilin, I won’t be home for dinner tonight. I’m meeting a friend," Lin Kuang said, looking at the captivating woman beside him.

"Oh? Alright, go ahead. Just try to be back early," Liu Shilin said with a smile, not pressing for details.

Lin Kuang nodded, driving swiftly to drop Liu Shilin off at her home. After seeing her inside, he drove off. It was already five o’clock, and he couldn’t be late for dinner with a beautiful woman, right? He turned on the car’s navigation and headed straight for the Siegel Hotel.

At 5:20 p.m., Lin Kuang parked in the hotel’s lot, got out, and dialed Fan Bingbing’s number. A moment later, Fan Bingbing answered, sounding cheerful. "Hey, Lin Kuang. Have you arrived?"

"Yes, I’m at the main entrance. Which floor should I come to?" Lin Kuang asked.

"No need, I’ll come down to you. Wait for me at the entrance; I’ll be right there," Fan Bingbing said with a smile before hanging up.

Resigned, Lin Kuang waited at the main entrance. As luck would have it, Han Fei happened to walk over just then with two men in tow.

Upon seeing Lin Kuang, he froze for a moment before a cold sneer spread across his face. "Tsk, tsk. Enemies are bound to cross paths, it seems. Lin Kuang, we meet again!"

Han Fei’s gaze was full of resentment. He vividly remembered how Lin Kuang had severely humiliated him at Liu Shilin’s house. He had been planning to teach Lin Kuang a lesson, but fate had other plans. To think they would run into each other at the Siegel Hotel!

Hearing someone call his name, Lin Kuang turned to look at Han Fei. "Do I know you?" he asked calmly, glancing at the man. His tone was utterly flat, neither excited nor angry, as if he couldn’t be bothered with him at all.

Han Fei, who was already furious, turned beet red upon hearing Lin Kuang’s tone and seeing his dismissive expression. His face twisted into a fierce scowl. "Lin Kuang, you bastard, stop playing dumb! Back at Liu Shilin’s house, you laid your hands on me! I let it slide to save her face, but you have the gall to be this arrogant? Today, I’m going to teach you a lesson you won’t forget!" he roared, his lungs nearly bursting with rage at Lin Kuang’s nonchalance.

"Oh? It’s you. The kid I threw out of Shilin’s house," Lin Kuang said, his tone still just as indifferent.

At this, Han Fei’s face flushed an even deeper shade of red, and the resentment in his eyes intensified. "Damn it! Liuzi, Guangzi! Get him! Teach him a harsh lesson!" he commanded, ordering his two bodyguards forward. These two were retired Special Forces soldiers. He’d spent a considerable sum of money to hire them, and their performance had always been very satisfactory.

"Yes, sir!" Liuzi and Guangzi acknowledged, stepping toward Lin Kuang.

Seeing the bearing of these two men, Lin Kuang’s gaze turned sharp for the first time. "You’re soldiers?" he asked, his voice and expression turning cold.

For some unknown reason, his words made Guangzi and Liuzi’s hearts tremble. It felt just like their first day in the army, getting chewed out by a drill instructor. "Y-yes, we are!" the two answered involuntarily.

"Since you were once soldiers, you should know a soldier’s duty! Yet here you are, betraying your military honor to help a tyrant commit evil. Have you forgotten the oath you swore under the flag?" Lin Kuang stared at them, his face growing icier with every word.

Guangzi and Liuzi’s expressions turned ugly. In this day and age, people would do anything for money, let alone care about some damn oath. But to have Lin Kuang call them out on it in public made the two men flush with shame and anger.

"Fuck off! What we do is none of your damn business!" Guangzi snarled, throwing a vicious punch at Lin Kuang’s head.
