Unscented-Chapter 1185 - 1127 Helping Murray
"Yeah!" Murray sighed. "The ball is in my court and this is how I’m going to play it. You are to leave us with this. You are getting old. Do not worry about me or my business" he told his father.
"I am not worried about you or your business. This is more about Melissa" Murray’s father argued.
"Melissa is sued because of this business. Let me handle it by myself and if I need your help in future. I will let you know" he conveyed.
"Do you really think, I can’t help you to win the case?" Murray’s father asked. He seemed confused the way Murray was rejecting his help.
"Court cases are trivia. It could be won by anybody. The judge will act on evidences presented before him. These evidences can not be procured by someone that doesn’t understand much about our business" Murray took his time to explain again.
"But remember I have won a lot cases like this many times and for the records I have never recorded a loss" Murray’s father boasted.
"Except Dr Sampson’s case" Murray pointed out.
"I didn’t lose it. The case was annulled" Murray’s father defended.
"If it wasn’t annulled. It was obvious you will lose" Murray smiled as he remembered the case more.
"And it was cancelled. If Melissa’s case got cancelled, is it good for you or bad?" he asked. He had definitely known what his response would be.
Murray sighed. If the case was cancelled,he would be very happy.
But he wouldn’t let his father deal with Melissa’s case. Apart from the fact that it would be a burden for him. He could make the case worse than it already was.
Murray had decided. He would only let experts in the field, handle it. There should be no room for mistake.
"You haven’t changed at all" Murray’s father commented. "You don’t want people to help you and you are always helping others" he shook his head.
Murray smiled. Many people used to say that. But that’s not the case. There was no reason he would leave his business for others to handle.
"Thanks for showing concern, father. I’m really grateful" he nodded.
"If you change your mind, let me know" his father said again before leaving.
Back at home.
Murray met some court clerks at the door. They were already leaving. They had definitely brought the court order to Melissa at home.
He rushed into the house and met Melissa reading the documents they brought for her.
"Do not worry, I will handle everything" he said immediately and collected the documents from her.
Melissa smiled and grabbed him. He pulled him close to herself and kissed him slowly.
She really noticed his effort.
"Do not worry about this. You must have enough to attend to at the company. I will handle this" she said slowly.
"No, you are not handling anything" he replied angrily. "You are sick and you need more rest to recover" he reminded her sternly.
Melissa placed a hand on his chest over his heart. She moved her hands like she was trying to calm him.
Murray sighed. He had become calm.
Melissa kissed him again to stop him from talking.
"It is my fault. I should have prevented it. And I’m not sick anymore" she stood up and took few paces back and forth to show that she was healthy.
"It is not your fault. The company employed the actress that deceived all these people. I just don’t know why they are accusing you and not the company" he shook his head.
"I am the marketer. They put their trust in me. They believed I was still working with the actress at the time" she explained. "So once we can prove that we are not involved with the actress at the time. I will be free" she assured him.
"That’s good. You have just open my eyes to that. Once I get to the office. I will tell that to the legal department" Murray said happily.
"No. I will do all the necessary things right away and we will be free of this burden" she insisted.
" I don’t want you to be stressed" Murray hugged her.
"Do not worry about me" Melissa kissed him again.
Later in the day.
Melissa had been going from offices to offices to find a way to clear herself from the cases.
She was on her way back home when she met a woman that had previously worked with her.
"Mrs James!" she murmured. She quickly looked through the documents with her to know if she was among those that sued her.
"No" she moaned. Mrs James was on top of the list.
"Melissa" Mrs James bellowed right behind her. She must have moved close to her when she was distracted when checking the documents.
"Mrs James" Melissa turned to face her. "I just realized that you also got swindled by Ana" she said pitifully.
"By Ana?" Mrs. James asked in amazement. "Are you not working together?" she asked.
"We worked together at some time but after then we parted ways" she disclosed
"Are you sure you are not trying to put her under the bus for something you both did?" Mrs James accused Melissa to her face. "Your name and your company name was all over the documents she gave me to sign" she reached for her bag and brought out some documents.
She showed it to Melissa.
It had Melissa’s name, picture and the company logo on it.
Something caught Melissa’s eye along the benefits’ agreement part.
"One hundred and ten per cent?" she cried out.
"What is it?" Mrs James asked cluelessly.
"The last time we worked together, what’s your profit?" she questioned her. She waited to hear her before telling her her mistake.
"My profit was twenty five percent of the cost" she tried to recollect.
"And here Ana promised you a hundred and ten. And you believed? That’s unrealistic. We wouldn’t have been collecting loans if we can pay that for one of our investors" she shook her head.
"She said things have changed and become better" Mrs James said sadly.
"I can boldly say you were deceived because of your greed" Melissa said to her and walked away.
