Chapter 944: Chapter 944: Xiang Yu is a National Security Personnel

When Gao Zhitao was making the call, he looked very serious and carried an air of authority, genuinely looking every bit the part of a bureau chief.

After hanging up the phone, he turned to Xiang Yu with a cheeky grin and said, "So, how about it? Don’t I look pretty impressive as a bureau chief?"

At that moment, Tie Zhuzi, standing beside him, gave him a smack on the head and retorted, "I can’t stand you showing off like this! What, kid, you got a problem with it?"

Gao Zhitao was left speechless. No matter what, he was still a dignified bureau chief, but here, he was reduced to nothing.

Yet, there was nothing he could do. If he provoked Tie Zhuzi, the kid might just jab him with his finger, and that would be far from pleasant.

The police officers acted quickly. No sooner had Gao Zhitao made the call than someone arrived.

Xiang Yu found a large room and had them all stay inside it.

In about half an hour, the room was packed with around five hundred people.

"Didn’t you say it would be four hundred?" Xiang Yu remarked, looking at Gao Zhitao.

They had even shoved Gao Zhitao into the crowd. At this point, he was wrapped in bandages all over, looking comically ridiculous.

Many of the people here were seeing their bureau chief for the first time, and this appearance of his was undoubtedly quite a flashy introduction.

Though the room was overcrowded, it remained eerily quiet. It was already 9 p.m., and since no one knew what was going on, their curiosity kept them waiting silently.

"The time’s about right. Let’s start." Xiang Yu glanced at Gao Zhitao and said.

By now, most of the police officers were present. Tie Zhuzi stood respectfully behind Gao Zhitao, even pushing his wheelchair.

After all, Gao Zhitao was the bureau chief, and in front of outsiders, Tie Zhuzi still had to show him some respect.

Gao Zhitao’s expression grew solemn as he scanned the room and said, "Comrades, the reason I’ve gathered you here tonight is to announce an important matter. I’ve just received intelligence that some terrorists have infiltrated our city. They are planning to carry out some shocking attacks here."

At this, the police officers below finally began to grasp the purpose of tonight’s gathering and started murmuring to each other.

In the past, they had only seen terror-related cases on TV but had never encountered them in real life.

Now, hearing that terrorists had arrived in their city, they were unexpectedly excited, cracking their knuckles and ready to get to work with a fierce energy.

Gao Zhitao raised his hand to quiet the crowd and continued, "As you all know, I just assumed office not too long ago, and perhaps some of you are still uncertain about my capabilities..."

He went on at length, essentially introducing himself and asking everyone for their support in his work.

Standing on the side, Xiang Yu watched him ramble on. If nobody interrupted, he’d probably keep talking till morning. So Xiang Yu let out a deliberate cough to signal him to get to the point.

Of course, Gao Zhitao understood Xiang Yu’s hint and continued, "I’ve already reported this matter to the higher-ups, and our superiors are taking it very seriously. The person standing to my right—whom some of you may not recognize—is a staff member sent by the national security bureau. He has been undercover in our city all this time, and this intelligence comes from him."

Hearing this, Tie Zhuzi nearly burst out laughing. Since when was Xiang Yu part of the national security bureau? This guy could really make things up.

Xiang Yu, however, stood there with a calm expression. Though slightly surprised, he didn’t say much.

While he wasn’t officially part of the national security bureau, he was, after all, a member of the Special Forces, which also involved going undercover.

"This entire mission will be under the full command of this comrade from the national security bureau. For tonight, all operations will follow his instructions. Comrades, this is the time to prove the unity and strength of the police force of our city. Let’s not let our national security comrades laugh at us..."

Gao Zhitao might not excel at other things, but his ability to stir up morale was top-notch. With just a few words, he had successfully rallied the enthusiasm of all the officers present.

Everyone was fired up, determined to bring down the terrorists.

Some officers who knew Xiang Yu and had interacted with him before now looked at him with newfound acknowledgment. Learning that Xiang Yu was secretly a national security agent suddenly made sense—no wonder he was so skilled. It turned out he was an undercover agent all along.

Some of the younger officers even gazed at Xiang Yu with admiration. National security officers rarely showed up in the cities, so it was quite a rare sight for them.

Moreover, standing tall and serious, Xiang Yu exuded an aura that silently commanded respect from everyone around him.

Stepping forward, Xiang Yu spoke solemnly, "Comrades, I know that the officers of our city are some of the finest. Currently, international terrorist organizations threaten the safety of our people..."

What Xiang Yu said ended up being even longer than what Gao Zhitao had said. He started with the current geopolitical situation, delved into national development goals, and eventually circled back to the present matter.

"Based on our intelligence, their first target in our city is the train station. We suspect they plan to plant bombs there to create chaos. That’s why we must stop them. I’ll now assign roles..."

With the help of five hundred officers, Xiang Yu believed that even if Falcon Organization operatives were hiding underground, they could flush them out.

Surrounding the train station were four major streets, so Xiang Yu divided the officers into four teams, assigning each to one specific area.

Finally, Xiang Yu once again emphasized the importance of this mission, warning that any mistakes could lead to citywide chaos among the residents.

Normally, these officers might slack off or take their duties lightly, but now they were brimming with the energy of someone on adrenaline, ready to give their all.

"Comrades, I need to stress one more thing. Tonight’s mission is top-secret, so none of you can expose your identities. We must move covertly. This means no police uniforms, no handcuffs. Out there, we’re nothing but ordinary street toughs. Tonight, you are unsung heroes playing the roles of rogues!"

Xiang Yu was well aware of the stakes. By keeping their identities hidden, even in the case of failure, they’d avoid drawing the Falcon Organization’s wrath onto the government, which would complicate matters further.

Though the officers didn’t fully grasp the reasoning, Xiang Yu’s stirring words left their blood boiling with excitement. They promptly removed their uniforms.

Now, they were the city’s silent guardians, heroes in the shadows.

"Does everyone understand their tasks?" Xiang Yu asked, his hands clasped behind his back.

"Understood!" they all shouted in unison.

"Move out!" Xiang Yu commanded.

At the order, everyone rushed toward the exit. Tonight, they were going to face off against international terrorists.

Xiang Yu watched them leave, while Gao Zhitao and Tie Zhuzi exchanged curious glances, their eyes falling back on Xiang Yu.

"You know, there’s something about this guy," Gao Zhitao said.

Tie Zhuzi nodded in agreement. "Brother Yu, you’re not really with the national security bureau, are you? Sometimes I feel like you’re even more of a secret agent than a secret agent."
