Yujun’s POV

I run my fingers through the sobbing alpha’s hair.

"I’m sorry, I swear I didn’t mean to breach your trust" he says, his broad frame shakes as he says the words, his voice sounds tired and truly sorry.

"I know, Jaehyun I know" I say to him, but he keeps on sobbing, his scent is still acidic and strong, making the depth of his pain obvious and even more painful for me.

My omega whines at the state of our alpha’s brokenness.

No alpha can ever fake this level of remorse, the break in his voice when he speaks, the stream of his tears as he sobs, his position on his knees as he apologizes, the trembling of his shoulders and the way he refuses to let go of my waist.

"I’m sorry, I will never do anything like that ever again, I promise" he says with his face pressed against my baby bump and I keep running my fingers through his thick dark hair, his hair is starting to curl around his nape, I imagine our daughter with his dark hair.

Hwang Haeri would be so beautiful.

"I’m sorry too" I whisper, my cheeks burning red with shame, I am ashamed that I have once again brought my pain into the heart of the man that has burned himself out to just heal me.

The alpha looks up at me with wet eyes and red nose...is this the famed Mad Dog Hwang?

"Junnah you can do no wrong, ever" he says and I shake my head.

"You’re stupid" I joke, wanting to lighten the mood for both of us.

"I’m in love" he says gently, still not laughing or easing up.

"And I love you" I say and the alpha sighs, his shoulder relaxes sightly and he winces at the release of his shoulders, obviously hurting.

"Jaehyun..." I say as I remember that he had been shot last night.

"Your arm, you..." I stutter and he smiles softly at me, "I’m okay, our clan doctor treated me last night" he says and places his hand on his right shoulder, still wearing the weak smile that makes his eyes sparkle.

"It was very bad last night" I say as I remember the state he was in, the way he passed out and woke up later, the way blood was everywhere.

I blink twice and realize that between our argument and now, I can’t remember most things.

I frown as I try to remember other things...I remember the alpha that was attempting to force me when I left Hwangyeon, I remember fighting him off, I remember the scalpel falling to the floor, the phone screen and the messages.

"Jaehyun...where am I?" I ask.

"We call it the city hospital, it’s Jeonghan City Hospital" he says and I sit up straight, this is Chan’s hospital.

The one he brought me to when he first showed me my pup, which means he is somewhere around the corner.

"Baby, what’s wrong?"

"We have to leave" I whisper and without questions, Jaehyun gets up, "I’ll get a nurse and have you discharged" he says and leaves the room after giving me a worried glance.

Chan is somewhere around, maybe waiting to strike, maybe just observing, I can’t tell which but either which way...I’m terrified.

The older nurse who attended to me earlier walks in with a note, a frown and Jaehyun behind her, "you were told to relax, why are you still not doing that?" she asks.

"I-"

"Sir" she interrupts me and folded her arms, "you live for two now, kindly reconsider every action from now on, you pup is strong, but the state of your pregnancy is not" she says with a stern expression.

"Y-yes ma’am" I respond, eyes still darting around, looking for signs of the born alpha, Kang Chan

"First of all, we don’t know how to help a man through pregnancy it’s a new thing, if there are any complications, that can be a real danger" she says and checks my IV.

"Rest, if I have to repeat it, I will knock you out with medication" she warns and I nod.

"You will be discharged in a few hours; you have to complete this" she says and nods at Jaehyun. "If you need help, feel free to call a nurse" she says and leaves the room.

Jaehyun whines as he comes to me and I whine back, reaching up for him to come to me, "I don’t feel safe" I say and he growls in his chest.

"I’ll ask them to discharge immediately, say the word" he says and I shake my head in refusal, I want to leave but my pup’s health comes first, "you’re here, I trust your presence" I say and the alpha’s jaw clench.

I know he wants to know why I am disturbed by the hospital; but he doesn’t want us to have another fight with each other, I lift my hand to cup is cheeks.

Sighing, he nuzzles my palm.

"Chan is a doctor, and I think this is the hospital he works in" I blurt and Jaehyun’s eyes immediately turns red, and he lets out a loud and territorial growl that makes me startle.

"Sorry" he says and turns his head away with his eyes shut, "it’s okay" I say and rubs his jaw to feel his stubble scratching my skin.

The way he growls comes out softer makes me proud and I smile fondly at the softness and the effort he’s putting into respecting my wish.

"I promise I’ll tell you everything" I say and he opens his eyes again, they are flickering between red and brown, he is struggling for me and that’s not what I want for us right now.

"When we get home, we will a long relaxing bath together" I say and his eyes drift shut again, "I can’t" he says.

"Why?" I ask, smiling softly at the way his bottom lip juts out in a pout.

"My bandages" he says and I chuckle, "I’ll let you watch" I say, successfully changing his scent from harsh and flickering to soft and familiar.

A knock distracts us and we stare at the door as Yeon walks in, "hello" he greets us and we both bow to him in greeting.

The luna walks over to me and hugs me without further words, he bends forward and left me rest my nose on his scent gland, I let out a purr at the motherly scent.

"You two, I don’t know what threat to give to make you careful" he says and I sigh into his neck, he pulls away slightly and hugs me again. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Mom..." Jaehyun calls softly.

The omega’s hug feels warm and secure, the way he holds me takes me back to when he shared his losses with me, he’s worrying for me like a male omega that has gone through when I’m going through.

He understands. He’s just like me, rare, impossible and a myth to others.

"I will be careful, I promise" I say, "mom" I add shyly and I feel a drop of tear on my forehead.

He pulls away and turns his head to the side.

"You really have to be careful, I went through your report Yujun-ah, male pregnancy is not something easy" he says and wipes his tears away secretly.

"Yes, I will be careful, I have been told by the nurse too"

"I will tell you again and again till it sinks in" he interrupts me and Jaehyun laughs under his breath, amused by his mother scolding me.

"It’s time to go" Yeon says and checks my IV before leaving to get the nurse that is supposed to be attending to me.

"You’re okay?" Jaehyun asks and I nod, "I’m okay" I say in response and he nods once, wincing as he sits with his back straight.

"You should see a doctor for your shoulder" I point out and he shakes his head, "it’s fine, doctor treated it well, it will heal in a day or two" he says and shrugs with his good shoulder.

When the nurse returns and attends to me, I change back into the clothes I was brought in, the lingerie and Jaehyun’s shirt.

"Can’t we have something to borrow?" Jaehyun asks after taking one look at my half-exposed body, "wear this" Yeon says and hands me a scrub pants.

"Thank you" I say and put them on.

"Mask" Yeon says and hands me a mask, he sounds like a real luna, a mother protecting his clan member.

"Thank you" I whisper again and we finally leave the hospital together, leaving behind the unsettling fear of Chan watching.

Once we are in the car, I lean against Jaehyun and fall asleep, using the alpha as a pillow and he holds me close to him.

I hear him and his mother conversing but I can’t make sense of it, letting myself relax and fall asleep, even my omega wags his tail happily at the closeness to our alpha.

’Family’ he says and I hum.

The car finally comes to a stop, Jaehyun kisses me to wake me up, "we’re home" he says and I open my eyes, we are back home at Hwangyeon.

Jaehyun gets out of the car, and almost immediately I hear a scream of pain that makes me get out of the car in panic.

"Jaehyun!" I yell as I find him on his knees with two guards holding and twisting his arms to pin him down.

"What are you doing?" Yeon says from inside the car.

"Take him away" Lord Hwang says and I can only stare with my eyes wide open.
