Yujun’s POV

The next day feels a lot easier.

The weight of Chan is slightly lighter, but then...Yunah, the sooner I see her, the sooner we sort it out and kill any potential misunderstanding.

She’s the only family member I have left, I would hate to lose her because of Chan too, determined to make it all end soon, I leave Jaehyun in bed with Haeri during her tummy time.

"Are we bothering you that much?" Jaehyun asks with genuine concern and I shake my head as I pull on his jellyfish hoodie, "no, I just need to get something sorted" I say and he stares at me with worry.

I love them to death but unfortunately, those two are a force to reckon with and I don’t have any strength for them. The baby enjoys being flown around like an airplane by her dad and it amuses her dad to frustrate me.

While I want to coddle her and kiss her forehead, she would be actively squirming around to be played with, that little girl is such a Jaehyun mini.

I walk down the hall to the room where I spent my first heat at Hwangyeon in, from outside I can already smell her vanilla, she smells happy for a person that should be hurting.

Bringing her is the best decision I have ever made, back at home she would have been locked in a dark room and left to scream through the pain for three days.

Without knocking, I enter the room and find her lying on her side, her long hair looks ruffled, and her small body is covered by a simple yellow blanket.

"Oppa, I could be naked" she whines tired as I walk in.

"I’ve seen it all, remember?" I joke and she rolls her eyes, I used to chase her naked around the house, trying to get her to take a bath and behave herself.

"How are you feeling?" I ask gently as I sit next to her on the edge of the bed.

"My body hurts, but I feel so spoilt, Yeon mom has been wiping my sweat and kissing my head" she says with a soft giggle, her eyes look tired but the happiness she always carries is still there.

"You like being spoiled" I say and she burrows into the sheets, "just like Haeri" she says and I chuckle as I take her hair out of her face.

"Where is Gawon?" I ask and she sighs, "we had a little fight" she pouts and I say a small ’O’.

"Being in love is so hard" she says, still pouting, "if anyone can do it, then it’s you YuYu, you’re a love child" I say and her face softens.

"I love Gawon too much and I never want to hurt her, oppa, but I did" she says and without knowing the context, I keep patting her head, "it hurts when we hurt those we love...even by mistake" I say.

"I’m sorry, Yunah" I say preparing to speak about the ’betrayal’.

"I don’t want to talk about that right now" she says softly and I wince.

"I know baby and I’m sorry...but I’m leaving to face the council tomorrow morning and I don’t know when I’ll be back" I say and she sighs, bottom lips shaking.

"I’m scared..." she says, "I’m scared because you mean the world to me..." the young girl adds, clenching the sheets tightly and I hold her hand gently to make her release her grip.

"Baby, we have to cross this bridge eventually...it kills me too, but I...I did you wrong" I confess and she nods slowly.

"Sehwa left a mark on us all, she was murdered and...you know the effect of the death of one has on a mated pair" I say and she stares blankly at me for a few seconds.

"Sehwa...was murdered?" she asks and I nod, her hand shakes in mine, "I can’t remember anything about her...I just know she’s gone and it means nothing to me" my innocent little sunshine says.

"That’s because I asked Chan to take away the pain and the memory" I say and she blinks slowly, the reveal seems big to her as she lets out a heavy sigh, "he...he took my memory?" she asks.

"Yes, I asked him to use his alpha voice on you" I whisper and she pulls her hand out of mine for a minute, "why would you do that?" she asks with a breaking voice, but her scent remains stable.

"Because...because you were hurting and I couldn’t take it...it felt like I was going to lose you" I say and she squeezes her eyes shut, "it’s all gone, I can’t remember anything" she says.

"I’m sorry" I say softly, waiting for her to get angry but she doesn’t, she just opens her eyes to give me dry smile.

"I’m not mad, you did it because you love me" she says and my shoulders fall, I feel even more disappointed with myself, I did it because I love her, yes, but I also crossed a line.

"It hurts but...at least I’m free from Sehwa" she says and shudders as she says the name, I see sweat beading at her temple and with the way her words are starting to come out slower, I can tell that she is about to get into another wave of heat.

"Should I get Gawon?" I whisper and she nods, "I want her" she says and I lean down to kiss her head, "I’m sorry pup" I say.

"I love you" she says to me and folds in on herself, wrapping her arms around her stomach to soothe the pains.

I leave the room and find Gawon standing at the door.

"Oh" I say and she sighs.

"I heard everything...you’re lucky he’s dead or you’ll be the one dying" Gawon says as she walks past me into the room, deliberately bumping into me.

I know I should be offended at her disrespect, but I am also proud, Yunah has someone willing to fight for her without fear of the opponent, my little sister is in safe hands.

I can leave tomorrow and be confident of her safety.
