Vampire God in the Apocalypse-Chapter 330 - 327. The archives (3)
An entire crowd gathered at the front of the central building. In front of it, Rameses stood at the front, with Dexter and other supernatural leaders behind him.
Rameses glanced back at all of them before starting the announcement.
"We have come a long way. From many parts of the world, we are building an unstoppable nation that won't fall easily. But things are happening…" Rameses paused briefly, spotting his little sister, Flair, in the crowd in front of him.
"The titans—we have fought them at sea and won. But there is an unknown threat lurking. This might be our toughest fight yet." He raised his hand.
Instantly a golden light shot from the clouds down to his hand, forming the golden spear he used for battle.
"We stand strong and tall. Strive to be even more powerful, for these next few days, we take the fight to all the mutants and zombies out there. We prepare for war!"
*Clank!*
He hit the spear on the ground, causing a small crack to form. The soldiers in black at the front got riled up, and many of the werewolves and vampires were happy with the announcement.
Many of the ordinary levelers felt nervous and scared about the entire thing their leader said.
Most of them had been forced to adapt, and some had even been avoiding going outside the camp for any reason whatsoever.
"Flair." Rameses called his sister, signalling her to come to him. "Come here."
The little girl ran to her brother with sparkling eyes, and Dexter smiled, looking up at the Sunwalker camp floating in the sky.
There were some of them coming to greet him, but he didn't answer at all. He went to the building where his mum was supposed to be staying, and then he looked away.
He leapt to the top of the roof and lay there, staring at the sky.
"What happened to him?"
"Does it have something to do with the snow coven leader?"
"Aye, just leave him be. I'm sure he's just stressed."
Dexter, on the other hand, found it hard to filter the voices he could hear.
All of a sudden Dexter sprang up, striking a clawed hand behind him. He paused as he saw that it was just Collins standing behind him.
*'What's going on, bro?'* Collins asked telepathically.
Dexter let out a long breath and sat back down. He looked visibly tired and stressed, and Collins had been following him from the hospital.
*'I'm not used to leading people or being in charge. How do I want to grow and protect people? I'm a selfish person. I do what I want. But I've grown close to a lot of these people, bruh.'* Dexter let his mind race, and Collins sighed.
*'I cannot relate. But about what you are feeling, it's good. If you didn't care, you would've lost that human side of you. It's exactly because you care that we're here today.'* Collins put an arm around Dexter's shoulder.
*'The coming enemies are mysterious and powerful. I had the thought of running away to hide and be on my own—'* Dexter paused, making Collins smile nervously.
*'But what is life if you're all alone to enjoy it? We have to grow stronger, past third class.'* Dexter said with determination.
He soon gave a speech to the sunwalkers and encouraged them to start hunting the creatures instead of waiting for them to come.
The entire camp was a vibe throughout the day. Most people began to gather around and sing for their last days. They were only in the second phase of the apocalypse, and no one knew what the third phase was going to be.
And before that, they were already facing powerful threats. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
…
Inside a desolate hallway with doors lined along the sides, a man wearing a black cloak walked through the corridors with soft steps.
It almost seemed like he wasn't walking at all, leaving no sounds behind.
Dexter came to the front of Rose's room and walked into a strange scene. The temperature in the room was almost at zero degrees, and even Dexter felt the chills as he entered.
"Have you come to mock me?" Rose's voice startled him, and he looked up to see a bat hanging off a thick ice shard.
The bat fell down, turning into a cloud of black smoke that came together to form a woman.
Dexter examined her wounds. She was bandaged from her neck to her waist, and he shook his head.
"What is he like?" he asked.
Rose didn't answer immediately.
The black smoke that formed her body thinned for a moment, as if even holding shape cost her effort. Frost crawled along the walls behind her, spreading like veins under pale skin. Her crimson eyes dimmed.
"He didn't walk in like a monster," she finally said, her voice low and hollow. "That's what made it worse."
Dexter stayed silent, shutting the door behind him.
"He came alone. No army. No dramatic entrance. Just… stepped through the gates." Her fingers curled slightly. "The guards thought he was some arrogant wanderer. They laughed."
Her lips trembled.
"They didn't even get to finish."
The air grew colder.
"He moved without effort. He just walked forward. Heads rolled. Every vampire that lunged at him was torn apart like paper." She swallowed. "He wasn't fighting."
Dexter's jaw tightened.
"My coven—centuries old. Warriors who survived hunters, wars, plagues. He cut through them in minutes."
Her eyes flickered with something darker—shame.
"I ordered a full assault. Blood arts. Shadow domains. Everything we had." She laughed bitterly. "He let us."
Dexter's brows furrowed. "Let you?"
"He stood there and let our strongest techniques hit him." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "They didn't even scratch him."
A thin layer of ice cracked under her feet.
"When I finally stepped in, I thought I could at least slow him down. I've fought elders. I've crushed rogue lords. I believed I was strong."
She closed her eyes.
"He overpowered me with one hand."
Dexter felt his chest tighten.
"He grabbed my throat. Not tight enough to kill me. Just enough to show me." Her fingers subconsciously moved to her neck. "Then he spoke to me, and I burned."
"I have not screamed in three hundred years."
Silence filled the room.
"I used an artifact to survive before he killed me. That's why I'm here today."
Dexter stepped forward slowly, pacing back and forth as he thought about the future.
Rose's eyes met his finally, and she said,
"If he turns his attention fully to this camp… you will not survive."
Dexter inhaled deeply.
For a moment, he said nothing. Then he let out a tired laugh, yawning.
"You think I don't know that?" he muttered.
Rose watched him carefully.
"I'm not confident," Dexter admitted. "I act like I am. I shout. I give speeches. I tell people to grow stronger." His hands trembled slightly before he clenched them into fists. "But every night, I think about losing them."
Images flashed in his mind—Rameses standing tall, Flair smiling in the crowd, Collins trying to act calm, the sunwalkers singing earlier that day.
"I wasn't born to lead," he continued. "I didn't ask for people to look at me like I have answers." His voice lowered. "Half the time I'm just figuring it out as I go."
"I used to think I was selfish," Dexter said. "I only cared about surviving. Getting stronger for myself. Running if things got too heavy."
He looked at his clawed hands.
"But now when I think about running… I see their faces." His throat tightened slightly. "And I want power."
Rose's expression softened just a fraction, and she placed her palm on his shoulder.
"I don't want to be the only one to suffer. I would enjoy seeing this place go to ruins haha." Rose laughed, making Dexter's face twitch.
"Forget about that. How about you convert to my side? Would you like to see the sun?" Dexter smiled, and Rose had a scared expression as she watched Dexter tear his wrist.
