Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 257 - 251 Shocking Change
"Master, have you figured out what the problem is?"
Ever since the renowned physicians of the Cai family had failed to diagnose Wang Jian, Xu Qian had been like a lost soul. She only regained some of her spirit when Xu Changqing arrived. Seeing him finish his examination, she asked quickly, hanging on his every word.
Xu Changqing naturally noticed the change in the woman’s expression. Wang Jian certainly has a good sister-in-law. Her affection for him is anything but ordinary.
Cai Qiong, standing to the side, wasn’t faring much better. Although she hadn’t lost her senses like Xu Qian, her heart was also entirely invested in Wang Jian. She was another devoted woman. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Xu Changqing sighed. He knew his disciple was popular with women, but unfortunately, even he couldn’t determine the cause of Xiao Jian’s coma. He could only say, "I couldn’t figure it out either. Let me go check on the person next door first."
Xu Changqing was, after all, highly experienced. Since he couldn’t find a solution with his disciple, he had to trace the problem back to its source. His words, however, made both women’s faces turn a shade paler, and Cai Xing didn’t look much better either.
Xu Changqing went to the adjacent room alone, which had also been quarantined on his orders. Hei Zi and Hu Ziyuan were confined inside, forbidden to leave. The two of them, who had initially harbored some schemes, fell completely silent after the soldiers arrived. They were told to stay put in the hospital room, and so they did, not daring to lose their tempers or even speak loudly. They had even been secretly discussing just who this Doctor Wang was to command such military backing.
When they saw Xu Changqing push the door open, followed by two military officers, they immediately knew a person of great importance had arrived. The two of them, who had been dozing by the hospital bed, were jerked awake in fright.
"And you are?" Hu Ziyuan asked in a low voice.
Xu Changqing ignored him and asked directly, "May I examine the patient?"
Though phrased as a question, his tone was anything but polite. Hu Ziyuan dared not object and hastily said, "Please, go ahead, please."
Only then did Xu Changqing approach Lu You’s bed. Just as he had with Wang Jian, he tried to use his energy to probe Lu You’s condition. However, having learned from what happened to Wang Jian, Xu Changqing was extremely careful this time. He also noticed the black energy within Lu You’s body, but he wasn’t as reckless as Wang Jian had been. Upon sensing that the black energy was highly sensitive to his own, Xu Changqing grew even more cautious, refusing to interact with it directly and only probing its edges. He even severed a small piece of his energy to use as bait to test the black substance.
That was all it took for him to see how the black energy affected his own. In that instant, Xu Changqing understood Wang Jian’s predicament.
Given Wang Jian’s personality, he must have been infested by this black energy and forced into a state of self-preservation.
"So that’s how it is!"
Only when Xu Changqing opened his eyes did Hu Ziyuan and Hei Zi dare to approach. "Sir, how is my father?"
"You said before that he was diagnosed with lung cancer?" Xu Changqing asked.
Hu Ziyuan nodded. "Yes, that’s what the doctors here said."
Xu Changqing simply shook his head. "Let him enjoy his last few days."
In a situation like this, even he was helpless. Besides, he still had Wang Jian to worry about. After saying this, Xu Changqing left the ward. Hu Ziyuan remained frozen in place, while Hei Zi stood beside him, sighing helplessly.
Back in Wang Jian’s room, the situation was not optimistic. In the short time Xu Changqing had been gone, Wang Jian’s vital signs had already begun to decline. As soon as Xu Changqing returned, Xu Qian and the others surrounded him. "Master, there’s another problem with Xiao Jian."
Xu Changqing sensed it too and quickly rushed to Wang Jian’s side, where he saw what they meant. In his eyes, two energies—one black, one white—were now visible on the surface of Wang Jian’s body.
This was unprecedented. To think his own energy would leave his body of its own accord!
The black energy was shockingly powerful, pressing down on the white energy as if intending to devour it completely. This phenomenon confirmed the conclusion Xu Changqing had reached next door.
Wang Jian’s energy was different from an ordinary person’s. Xu Changqing knew that it had undergone a qualitative transformation. That was why, even in the face of such terrifying black energy, Wang Jian had not been defeated quickly.
Xu Changqing watched in horror. Just as he was about to intervene and lend Wang Jian a hand, his apprentice’s condition changed again. This time, even Xu Qian and the others stared with wide eyes. Wang Jian’s body was actually floating an inch above the hospital bed, hanging motionlessly in the air. It was a terrifying sight.
No one dared to move a muscle; they all watched in stunned silence. It might have been a trick of the light, but Xu Qian and the others thought they saw the image of a Yin Yang symbol flash across Wang Jian’s body for an instant. Among them, only Xu Changqing stared intently, his eyes wide open, terrified of missing a single detail. Unlike the others, he could clearly see everything that was happening.
Inside Wang Jian’s body, the black energy was spreading like a virus, frantically devouring his own energy to expand its territory. The retreating white energy, finding no escape, was beginning to falter.
Wang Jian, though comatose, felt this more clearly than anyone. In truth, it wasn’t a coma. He had voluntarily entered a state of Taoist meditation to minimize the loss of his energy. While he wasn’t fully aware of the outside world, he could still sense Xu Changqing’s arrival. He only dared to begin his attempt to save himself after knowing his master was there. Just as Xu Changqing understood him, he understood his master and knew the man would do anything to save him. But Wang Jian didn’t want Xu Changqing to take such a risk. He feared that if his master were also infected by this black energy, his energy wouldn’t be able to hold out as long as his own had. During this time, Wang Jian had been studying the differences between the black energy and his own, and a plan had gradually formed in his mind. He hadn’t dared to act on it, however, because Xu Changqing hadn’t arrived to serve as a safety net. When Xu Changqing’s probing energy touched him, he knew his master had come. He immediately repelled the probe and set his plan into motion.
As he watched the black aura battle against the white aura of his own energy, he was struck by the concept of Yin and Yang. "All things bear Yin and embrace Yang..." If all things are inseparable from Yin and Yang, could it be that the energy they cultivated possessed an inherent dark side? He had always believed that his energy was a purely positive force—the energy of life, the kindest energy imaginable. He had never considered that it might have another side. But seeing these two forces devouring and repelling each other gave him a new idea, so he began to try and actively convert his own energy into the black energy.
The moment this thought emerged, it was like he had kicked a hornet’s nest. The energy inside his body instantly fell into chaos. Yet, within this chaos, a new kind of order was slowly being born. Wang Jian had already lost control of his body, allowing the two energies to transform until they reached a state of equilibrium. Devouring and transforming one another, they merged from head to tail in a ceaseless, self-sustaining cycle.
It was at that moment that Wang Jian’s body began to float.
