Chapter 54: The raid on Falaniondor [1]

Around 7pm in the evening, the sun finally fully set in the west as the veil of night slowly started enshrouding the mountain city.

While this happened, inside a certain Demon Castle.

Inside a massive balcony that opened up at the Eastern end of the gigantic black castle that seemed like it was carved out of obsidian, Julian sat on his high-back throne that was transported here for him to get VIP view of the raid.

Standing beside his throne on the right was Sir Alfred, and on the left were Elena and Puck.

They all had calm expressions on their faces as for the first time in years, Dreadmoor was prepped for another teleportation.

The energy from thousands of qi crystals in the obsidian castle were drained at once as a shimmering gray qi energy engulfed the Castle, making it turn invisible as it entered its stealth state.

More energy from thousands of more qi crystals were drained as the Castle levitated, floating into the sky.

It still wasn’t enough. Even more energy from more qi crystals were drained and then with a subtle sound like that of ripping a paper, the sky squeezed and folded then the invisible Castle disappeared from the valley!

BZZZ!

...

Bzzz!

With a slight buzzing sound, Dreadmoor appeared above the city of Falaniondor!

The ancient black Demon Castle floated in the sky above the bustling city even as night approached, and yet no one noticed its presence.

It was invisible with no qi fluctuation being detected around it.

Dreadmoor was in its stealth state.

From the vantage point of the Demon Castle, sitting in the balcony on his throne, with his enhanced sight, Julian had a great view of most of the city with his focus being on the Central Bank that was directly below the floating castle.

The raid already started.

The Central Bank of Falaniondor was not just heavily protected by powerful guards, the main surveillance of the Central Bank to keep track of everything happening inside the bank and to detect robbers and thieves is a mix of Mage and Illusionist abilities.

The ruling Council of the Kingdom weren’t stingy as they spent a lot of money many years ago to employ the services of powerful Mages and Illusionists to set up a qi surveillance system.

But in the world of Awakened, nothing is inviolable.

Below S Rank, there is always a stronger existence out there and even S Rank beings were not invincible. Zaratul’s fate was a perfect example of this.

Compared to the Mages and Illusionists that the Council of this Centaur City hired to set up the intricate qi surveillance system of the bank, Julian had more powerful Mages and Illusionists under him.

The infiltration at night into the Central Bank was seamless, and the raid already started!

Unknown to the bustling city, one of the major landmarks of the city was already compromised by powerful robbers.

Sir Alfred, Elena, Puck, and Julian remained in Dreadmoor above as they watched it all happen from the floating castle.

From the scattered memories that he inherited from Zaratul, Julian already had an idea on the tendencies of his subordinates outside. Outside, they were true Villains and Villainesses and he already accepted it since day 1 in this world.

During the few days that he already spent in this world, Julian already realized that in a world where every being is an Awakened no matter weak or strong, he realized that morals could not really cut it in this world.

This is a world where only the strong thrive and oppress the weak.

This is a world where power was the only law.

Even in the so-called righteous factions, Kingdoms, and Empires, the strong Awakened who called themselves Heroes still oppressed others one way or another.

In Gomorra, power is everything.

Power equates wealth.

Power is how the Kingdom of Falaniondor came into existence, forcing all the nearby Towns to swear fealty to them and pay tributes and tax every year.

Power is how every major organization, Kingdom, and Empire rose to power in this world. Power is also how Zaratul previously rose to the peak of this world as one of the strongest existences alive.

Julian already accepted his situation, and this was why he didn’t go out of his way to set any laws to restrict his subordinates’ tendencies.

Instead, he let them indulge themselves.

Afterall, since transmigrating here, he was already indulging himself too so why restrict his subordinates from being just as indulgent?

A slaughter was currently going on inside the Central Bank!

Having disguised as customers again to enter the bank that night, even as there were far lesser customers now, Xoreth and Dante finally shed their disguise as they let loose inside the Bank.

Xoreth started a slaughter!

Starting a blatant slaughter inside one of the major landmarks of the Kingdom of Falaniondor was going to definitely attract the authorities, but it didn’t matter because they were prepared.

The Illusionist Class is feared as the most insidious Class in the world for a reason, their catalogue of skills when combined are downright terrifying.

From his own knowledge read in the library and from his bed talk with Pandora, Julian already had a detailed knowledge of the Illusionist Class.

At Level 5, they unlock Minor Glamour and Disorient- Minor Glamour to slightly alter appearance and Disorient to induce dizziness or confusion in a target.

At Level 10, after their first Class Awakening, they unlock False Image, Auditory Distortion, and Mental Veil.

False Image creates a simple visual illusion, Auditory Distortion manipulates or fabricates sound, while Mental Veil slightly obscures a target’s thoughts, making them forget thoughts and plans that they made.

Mental Veil is an especially insidious skill in battle.

At Level 15, they unlock Blur Reality and Calm Mind. Blur Reality makes visuals around a target to blur and distort, causing greater confusion than Disorient.

Calm Mind is a passive skill that grants resistance to fear and mental pressure, Illusionists are always calm.

At Level 20, they unlock Phantom Touch and Enhanced Focus. Phantom Touch creates tactile hallucinations while Enhanced Focus is a passive skill.

At Level 25, they unlock Suggestion and Sense Scramble. Suggestion implants subtle psychological cues in a target to influence behavioral impulses, while Sense Scramble can temporarily swap sensory inputs!

For example, Sense Scramble can enable a Level 25 Illusionist swap an enemy’s vision with an animal like a frog, disorienting him!

Illusionists can also swap sensory inputs between themselves and allies.

At Level 30, after the second Class Awakening, they unlock Full Sensory Illusion, Mirror Step, and Emotional Manipulation.

Full Sensory Illusion is a skill that combines visual, tactile, and auditory illusions. Mirror Step enables an Illusionist to reposition while leaving a convincing illusion behind, while Emotional Manipulation enables them to control emotions in themselves and targets, inducing fear, calm, rage, or despair.

At Level 35, they unlock Illusory Terrain and Persistent Mirage. Illusory Terrain alters perceived environment, while Persistent Mirage is a passive skill that make illusions last longer without focus.

At Level 40, they unlock Phantasmal Duplicate and Mental Feedback. The first one creates multiple semi-autonomous illusions, while Mental Feedback causes mental damage to targets when illusions are forcibly dispelled.

At Level 45, they unlock Nightmare Induction and Reality Mismatch. Nightmare Induction traps a target in a waking nightmare, while Reality Mismatch cause victims to misjudge distance, speed, or threat.

And then at Level 50, after the third Class Awakening that forces a Specialization, Illusionists can choose between the 3 Class Specializations- Dreambinder, Deceiver, and Phantasmist.

Pandora is a Level 90+ Illusionist of the Deceiver Specialization.

At Level 50, a Deceiver unlocks Perfect Disguise and False Authority.

Perfect Disguise enables an Illusionist to become indistinguishable from another individual, they can even change genders and disguise as the opposite gender! It is a perfect disguise like the skill name suggests.

As for False Authority, it’s a skill that forces targets to instinctively trust or obey an Illusionist.

At Level 60, a Deceiver unlocks Identity Theft and Command Override.

Identity Theft enables an Illusionist to temporarily steal someone else’s identity. This means an Illusionist can infiltrate a kingdom, kill the King, and for a period of time use Identity Theft to steal the identity of the King!

This is beyond mere disguise, fate itself becomes deceived. Family that have known the target for years will believe that the Illusionist is their family.

There’s no way to detect it unless the skill duration fades.

As for Command Override, it enables a Deceiver to issue irresistible mental commands to target or prey.

With the combination of these insidious skills, Pandora was the first to truly infiltrate the Central Bank of Falaniondor!
