Villain in a Fantasy World; I Level Up by Conquering Villainesses-Chapter 59: A Necromancer’s Requiem [1]
Elena’s raid plan was thorough, the strategy had no loopholes and every member of Zaratul’s inner cabinet had a role to play except Lilith.
Dante, Pandora, and Xoreth’s roles were already defined.
Pandora and Xoreth were to isolate and obscure the Central Bank building to hide what was going on inside, while Dante’s role was to be the armed robber and actually execute the money heist.
As for those in the floating Demon castle, Sir Alfred’s sole role was to stay at Lord Zaratul’s side and protect him in the case that something went wrong.
This was extremely necessary.
Afterall, the Lord had many powerful enemies and they didn’t know if some of his enemies already noticed his awakening.
As for Puck, her only role was to provide a channel to play out and watch Elena’s masterpiece heist plan as it was being executed, showing it to Lord Zaratul in a cinematic format so he could follow and enjoy the process of the raid.
They weren’t just doing this for the money and the potential gains, they were also doing this for the sake of it and to enjoy it.
But apart from Lilith who was excluded from the planning, there was someone else with a role... Bruno.
The Necromancer’s only role was not to provide weak skeletal zombies to help Dante during the heist. Personally, he had another even more important role that was assigned to him by Elena.
Bruno’s role was to cause chaos and death in the city.
Elena had no intention of underestimating the terrifying perception of a Level 90+ A Rank Warden of the Archer Class who already had access to Domain Amplification.
As she occasionally sparred with Puck in training, she knew just how terrifying the perception of an A Rank Archer was.
And using Puck’s perception as the benchmark, she was not confident in simply letting just Xoreth and Pandora hide what was going on inside the Central Bank of Falaniondor successfully from the Archer Councilor’s gaze.
This is why she drafted a plan to misdirect the Councilors, and this is where Bruno’s role came to play. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Earlier in the day when Xoreth and Dante had a tour around the city, they weren’t just sight-seeing, they were also marking the different warehouses and food stores of the Centaur city for the Necromancer.
Another part of Lord Zaratul’s raid plan apart from stealing riches in terms of qi crystals, gems, gold bars and coins was to steal enough food that would be able to sustain Dreadmoor’s Demon army for at least a year.
The food in the multiple warehouses in the City of Centaurs was more than enough to meet Lord Zaratul’s requirement.
Bruno’s role in the plan was two-fold.
He was to target the warehouses and food stores in the city where the Falaniondor Council kept food, raiding them, while at the same time causing a massacre in the city to attract the attention of the authorities.
Compared to raiding the Central Bank of Falaniondor where the wealth of the city was concentrated, a single daring Awakened raiding the food stores was not enough to alert the Councilors of the city and make them personally take action, but it would attract their gaze and that was what mattered.
Bruno’s job was to keep the gaze of the Councilors on him.
Of course, even if the Councilors themselves didn’t make a move immediately, the local guards and police would go after the Necromancer but in doing so their attention will also be distracted from the main raid in the bank.
This was Bruno’s role.
...
Silver moonlight shone from the sky, illuminating the mountainous city of Centaurs with a gentle silvery glow as the night bustled with activities in the city.
Far in the valley below the mountain, a jade river flowed.
In the streets, night markets opened as qi lanterns levitated in the sky, illuminating the city with bright orange lights.
Night in the City of Falaniondor was not quiet.
Traders conversed with customers, customers discussed prices with merchants- the atmosphere was rowdy.
Amid the hustle and bustle of the city, a pale-skinned Demon with 2 curved black and red horns walked through the streets with a neutral look on his face.
This Demon was built like a giant, he was even taller than most Centaurs on the streets. He had short black hair, black beards, and a neat mustache. He wore casual black pants with a red jacket, with both his hands tucked inside his pant pockets.
His black eyes were deep and unfathomable.
He looked out of place in this street.
The weaker Awakened in the street didn’t perceive it but looking at this Demon unnerved the stronger and more perceptive Awakened, they felt like they were looking at an abyss of endless dark qi.
"Who is that?" They mumbled among themselves, discussing idly.
"He’s walking towards the warehouse, who is he?"
Soon, one of the Centaurs finally mustered the courage to block the towering Demon as with a polite look on his face, he asked. "Who are you? I’ve never seen your face around before, are you looking for someone?"
The Demon looked at the Centaur coldly but he didn’t stop walking.
He simply raised his right hand and as he did, a sinister blueish gray qi flared around his hand.
Bone Shard!
A sharpened bone fragment appeared on the Demon’s hand and before the Centaur could react, this Demon plunged the sharp bone straight at his skull.
BAM!
The Centaur’s skull popped like a watermelon as the bone shard pierced straight through his skull!
"...!"
For a moment, there was silence as all the onlookers looked on in shock and surprise, then the marketers screamed loudly in horror.
"MURDERER!"
"MURDERER!"
"He just killed that man!"
Instantly, the night market in the street scattered as people ran, abandoning their stalls but not everyone ran.
A few Centaur Awakened watched the Demon with cold eyes as they stood up to surround him while others already left to report to the local police.
The Demon didn’t even spare them a smile.
He casually dipped his right hand back into his pocket, then the sinister blueish gray qi erupted again, swirling around his body.
Grave Swarm!
BZZZ!
Around the Demon, the sinister blueish gray qi erupted outward as instantly, dozens of low-rank zombies and undead skeletons climbed out of the ground!
The zombies wore tattered clothes with decaying skin of varying degrees, each of them was armed with a strong wooden rod.
As for the undead skeletons, they wielded bone swords and a small bone shield. Both zombies and skeletons were just hollow shells with vacant black holes for eyes, they had no soul.
In no time, 30+ undead climbed out of the ground around the Demon and without hesitation, they turned towards the nearest Centaurs and began staggering towards them like a scene straight out of a zombie horror movie.
"A Necromancer!" One of the Centaurs hissed. "Kill him!"
They instantly rushed at the zombies and undead skeletons.
Maintaining a nonchalant look on his face with both his hands still on his pockets, Bruno’s qi kept on flowing outward as he activated more skills.
Raise Skeleton! ×50!
Instantly, 50 more simple undead skeletons with the same hollow black eyes rose up, joining the others.
Yet Bruno was not done as his qi flared again.
Raise Ghoul! ×20!
20 more undead skeletons rose up but these ones were different.
Unlike the earlier skeletons, these ones were more big-boned and bigger. Some of them wielded powerful bone Great Swords, others wielded bone Tower Shields and Spears, and the last type wielded bone bows and arrows.
They looked terrifying.
And unlike the lesser skeletons, their eyes burned with flickering sinister yellow flames. Each of them had a soul!
And unlike the earlier skeletons who only walked towards their targets, these Ghouls revealed aggressive auras from their big skeletal frames as the ones wielding melee weapons erupted in a sprint, rushing towards the Centaurs.
"Rahrrr...!" They snarled, pouncing on the Centaurs.
The skeleton archers pulled their bows as with sinister yellow flames burning in their eyes, they took aim at the living around them except their master.
Seeing this, the brave Centaurs who confronted the Necromancer braced for an intense battle but when the skeletons hit them, the script did not quite play out in the way that they thought.
Every single one of these skeletons to the weakest was at least Level 50!
The low-tier zombies and skeletons didn’t have the awareness of a sentient being, but they had the defense and the offensive output of Level 50+ powerhouses.
As for the Ghouls though, every single one of these skeletons moved and fought with the skill of a trained Warlord!
To these low-leveled Centaurs in the streets, they were monsters.
They slammed into them like an unstoppable tide.
BOOM!
And unlike the intense battle that they expected, a massacre was what followed in this street even as the Demon’s qi kept on spreading as even more skeletons and zombies walked out of his qi influence, spreading everywhere.
The Demon Necromancer was like a plague spreading the disease of undeath.
Under his influence, a massacre started!
Amid the screams of pain, fear, and terror, Bruno finally walked in front of the first food warehouse.
BAM!
One kick was all it took to take the door right off its hinges as the warehouse became exposed, but inside there were guards stationed to protect the warehouse.
The guards stared at the Demon warily and once they saw the massacre going on behind him, they realized what was happening as they instantly rushed at the Demon with their weapons.
"DIE!!!"
