Villain Ch 1063. You Care

Kai's expression hardened as he considered Allen's words. It wasn't just about Mila anymore—it was about the larger game being played in the shadows, a game of corporate espionage, power, and influence. "That's… dangerous," Kai said quietly, his tone thoughtful. "She could be used without even knowing it."

Allen nodded, his face grim. "Exactly. I'm in a tough spot with this. The fact that she came with James today already says a lot. James probably knew about our arrival—he just didn't know it was me. And he brought Mila because…"

Allen paused, his thoughts momentarily interrupted as he recalled the moment when Mila had hugged her chest in that strange attempt to compare herself to Vivian. He had noticed, against his better judgment, the fullness of her figure in that fleeting moment, but now wasn't the time to dwell on such distractions.

Clearing his throat, he pushed the thought aside and continued. "James brought her to seduce me and help him secure the deal. Classic stuff. But doesn't that mean they've already started using her? Even if she doesn't realize it, her presence was meant to influence me."

Kai nodded in agreement. "If that's the case, then she's already a pawn in their game. Whether she's aware of it or not, she's been placed in a position to influence you. If she genuinely wants to be with you, sir, she'd have to make a choice—cut ties with her family."

Allen let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. "And if that happens, what does that make me? I'll be the guy who made a woman turn her back on her family for my sake."

Kai frowned. "It's not that simple, sir. If her feelings are genuine, then the choice would be hers. You're not responsible for her decisions."

Allen sighed, running a hand through his hair. "But that's the problem, Kai. It's never that simple. If Mila really does care about me, and if I care about her in return, what then? She'll feel forced to choose between her family and me. And if she chooses me, she'll lose everything—her connection to her family, her career, her life as she knows it.

I'll be the reason for that."

Kai remained silent. He had seen Jordan navigate difficult circumstances before, but this one was personal in a way that most business deals or rivalries weren't.

"And then what?" Allen continued, his tone growing more frustrated. "I already have seven girlfriends, Kai. Seven. I'm already walking a fine line with that. And now, if I make a woman leave her family, cut ties with the people she's known her whole life—what does that make me? A playboy bastard.

A villain. And this isn't a VR game."

The bitterness in Allen's voice was hard to miss. It wasn't just the pressure of managing multiple relationships or the complicated politics of dating someone from a rival family. It was the weight of knowing that if Mila chose him, she'd be giving up more than he was comfortable asking of anyone. He hated the idea of being the cause of someone's pain, the reason they turned their life upside down.

Especially if it was related to family stuff. He knew the pain of having a broken family and he didn't want anyone to experience it, just because of him.

Kai finally spoke. "I'm surprised you've thought this far ahead," he said, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Most people in your position wouldn't even consider the impact on someone else's life. It shows that you care for her."

Again, Allen chuckled softly. "I'm human. I still have a heart. Just because I live in this world of wealth and competition doesn't mean I'm completely cut off from my emotions."

Kai's expression remained thoughtful, but he shifted the conversation slightly, sensing the broader picture. "What about James?" he asked, his tone more serious. "He used Mila to try and influence you. Doesn't that make him dangerous? You didn't cancel the deal to use this building, even knowing what he did."

Allen's face hardened for a moment as he considered the question. "James is tricky, but not stupid. The largest shareholder in this building is the Marcus family. James, though close to MagicSword Interactive and his family's ties to them, is an investor here. And investors only care about one thing: profit and loss."

Kai raised an eyebrow, nodding slowly.

Allen continued, his voice steady as his thoughts flowed. "As long as it benefits him financially, James won't do anything reckless. He knows that if something goes wrong with the event because of this building or sabotage, his reputation will suffer too. He's tied to this place through his investments, so any failure on their part would reflect badly on him.

And even if he doesn't care about his reputation, the financial losses would still have to be dealt with. It's a business decision for him."

"That's why you didn't back out," Kai observed, his eyes sharp. "You made sure the contract was airtight."

"Exactly," Allen confirmed. "I asked for specific terms in the agreement—ensuring that the building must be in prime condition for the event. If anything goes wrong because of the venue's failure, I've negotiated for compensation. That way, if something does happen, it's on them. James might be willing to play games to get what he wants, but he's not willing to sabotage his own investments."

Kai considered this, nodding slowly. "It's a smart move. You've protected yourself and your event."

Allen's eyes darkened slightly as he thought about James's tactics. "James is dangerous, but not in the way you think. He plays the long game. He knows how to manipulate situations without getting his hands dirty. He lets others do the work for him, makes them feel like they're in control, all while he's orchestrating everything from behind the scenes."

Kai absorbed his words in silence. He had seen men like James before—charming, always laughing, never revealing the depth of their true intentions. But hearing Allen speak about him like this added complexity to James that Kai hadn't considered. He realized now that Allen wasn't just watching for the obvious moves, but for the subtle manipulations that could catch even the most prepared off guard.

Note: Some of you may be confused whether Allen will take Mila as his harem member or not. As usual, I will use a poll to determine this. The poll will be given after their (Mila and Azura) Character Development arc is finished. The first one will be Azura.
