Villain : Nonchalant Greedy-Chapter 16: Clone Fusion
Chapter 16 - Clone Fusion
Arsene was stunned. "The entrance... from the edge? What's he rambling about? Does he want to commit suicide?"
But Arsene knew that Sarl wasn't stupid enough for that. So he decided to check it out. There was a sloping path down the cliff, clinging to it, leading to a hole in the outer wall that seemed like an entrance to the lower part of the cave.
"Damn it, how are we supposed to do this?" Arsene asked.
"Just jump on the slope and cling to the cliff wall. The wind's fierce there, if we fall, we're dead," Sarl explained the method.
Arsene stared at him, his expression shouting, What the fck?*
But in the end, they jumped!
BEEEFF!! The fierce wind at the base of the cliff hit them as they made their way toward the hole, holding onto the rocks jutting out from the cliff's wall. The path was narrow and, of course, slippery.
"Look! Some stones fell down," Arsene glanced down the cliff, and it looked like a black, endless abyss with no bottom.
"Don't look down!" Sarl warned. "You'll get dizzy and fall."
Sarl had his eyes shut tight, biting his lower lip hard, his face an amusing mess. Arsene scolded him, "Open your eyes, idiot. What if you misstep and place your foot wrong?!"
Sarl opened his eyes, but of course, they immediately locked onto the bottom of the cliff, and he closed them just as quickly. "No thanks, I'm good like this."
Arsene chuckled at him.
"Fiuuu! Finally, we made it!" Sarl sighed in relief.
Arsene frowned. "There's a rock blocking the way!"
"Don't worry, I came here yesterday and placed it myself. I made sure no one was watching. If they knew I was here, I wouldn't be with you now. I'd probably be in detention," Sarl explained.
Now everything made sense to Arsene. No surveillance equipment surrounded the place, but why had they sealed the main entrance to the cave? Were they afraid of students intruding?
But what the hell created this secondary entrance at the bottom of the cliff? A hole like this couldn't have just appeared by chance. Did Sarl dig it last night? He didn't think so.
And where did he get a rock like that to block the entrance?
Those were the thoughts running through Arsene's mind, but he didn't want to ask Sarl. He was staring at something else.
Something was coming from the deep darkness below. The air was breaking apart, making a noise. Sarl's clone was staring down at it from the ledge. Arsene approached him, both of them watching, while Sarl tried to push the rock blocking the entrance further in.
"What's that? Maybe the wind and air pressure are causing this—Wait, what's that?!"
Arsene was shocked by what he saw. A bird! A huge bird—no, those wings were way too big!
A bat! A giant bat, with completely pierced black wings, was speeding towards them. Arsene quickly turned and dashed toward the entrance. Sarl had managed to move the rock, but—
The clone of Sarl was still staring down, frozen in place. Arsene rushed back toward him to drag him away.
"Woof, finally moved it! Let's get in!" Sarl said, before suddenly being blasted by a loud sound.
BOOM!!! What the hell was that?! Damn it, Arsene! Where are you?! Sarl screamed and called out to Arsene as the dust cloud blocked his vision. When his sight cleared, he was in complete shock.
The spot where he and Arsene's clone had been standing had completely disappeared! They had fallen down!
Sarl didn't know what happened. Maybe the spot they were standing on was too sloped and couldn't hold their weight!
He carefully approached the edge and looked down. He heard some rocks shifting, and then his face lit up when he saw Arsene clinging to one of the rocks, holding his clone in his hand.
Sarl smiled and tried to help, but Arsene shouted, "Sarl, above you!!!"
Sarl looked up to see the giant bat, its pierced wings preparing to dive back down.
Damn, what is that monster?!
Sarl grabbed Arsene's hand quickly and tried to help him climb as fast as he could toward the entrance. But both Sarl and his clone were heavy as hell.
Sarl cursed loudly, "Damn it, I've never done this in front of anyone before! But what can I do?"
Arsene didn't know what Sarl was saying, but soon realized half of Sarl's body was melting, his features changing into something grotesque. Arsene felt something slimy in his hand.
Looking down, he saw Sarl's clone melting away slowly. Due to the slime, he couldn't hold onto it, but for some reason, it didn't fall. The slimy mass floated in the air, sticking to the other half of Sarl's body.
The clones merged into one, but it wasn't a perfect fusion. Arsene could see the mismatch and the distorted veins and organs stretching from their head to their feet.
Sarl felt the weight drop after merging with his clone, and his strength increased. Without hesitation, he dragged Arsene in one swift motion and threw him toward the entrance, hurrying before that beast could reach them again.
Boom! Fortunately, they both made it inside the cave entrance. If the beast had hit them, they would've been dead by now.
Sarl and his clone had separated and were lying on the cave entrance floor, exhausted. There was some blood on his lips. As for Arsene, he was staring into the hole.
"Damn it! We might be stuck here! Sarl, come take a look!" Arsene called out to Sarl.

Sarl, breathing a sigh of relief, got up and approached Arsene to see what he was pointing at. His shock was evident.
The path they had taken to get here had been destroyed! There was no path left, and nothing for them to step on to reach the top anymore.
Even if there were, they wouldn't be able to reach it, because on the other side of the cliff, the giant bat-like monster was hanging upside down by its feet, staring at them with its blood-red eyes. Its hair was tangled in a grotesque way from the top of its head.
Arsene stared into its eyes, which glowed like mirrors, reflecting light, like a TV from his old world broadcasting events. He saw no way out of this situation.
Of course, the only option was to venture deeper into the cave. But if there were monsters like this outside, what kind of creatures could be inside?
Arsene looked at Sarl. The latter apologized, "Sorry, Arsene. I got you into this mess and almost got you killed—!"
Arsene stood up and extended his hand to Sarl, smiling the way friends smile at each other. "Don't say that, idiot! You saved me. I was about to die back there."
Sarl was stunned but still wanted to add something, "Thanks for saving my clone. I don't know what would have happened to me if I had fallen. I was the one who got you into that danger in the first place, so—"
Arsene cut him off, "Stop rambling. This feels like an adventure to me. Let's dive into it. Don't forget, there's a secondary entrance. There'll be more ways out, I'm sure. I have my doubts about this cave and what it is, but I don't think there's anything too dangerous."
Sarl smiled, as if he had forgotten everything that happened just moments ago. Arsene's words reassured him, and he took Arsene's hand and stood up.
Arsene added, looking at Sarl's clone, "Also, without your clone, we wouldn't make it out of here. Like I said before, he's good at finding places.
He found a secondary entrance, and he'll find an exit too. It's time to delve deeper into this cave and discover its secrets. The path's open." He spoke as if to Sarl's clone.
Was that truly his nature?
