Two weeks had passed since that crazy night when I made Mina my personal slave.

Many things had changed, and among them, two were the most important.

The first was my status screen.

Compared to the time when I upgraded my stats after reaching level 14, my status screen now looks something like this:

────────────────────

The stat points I received for reaching level 30 were already allocated, and the extra points I had were the result of my daily training with Rapid Growth.

Speaking of Rapid Growth, not only did it increase my stats, but it also greatly aided me in learning Basic Swordsmanship, which moved from the temporary skill column into the permanent one after I attained a 100% link.

Unfortunately, my second acquired skill, Chaos Ritual, was still stuck at 57%.

I knew it was because I hadn’t used it for anything other than summoning Chaos monsters, and those were only low level ones.

However, there wasn’t much I could do about it since I knew that in order to go farther, high level Monster cores would have to be sacrificed.

’Gosh! Why are these Monster cores so hard to get?’

There was no conventional market for high level Monster cores, and I wasn’t powerful enough to farm them from high level Dungeon Cracks myself.

In addition, I couldn’t bother my father about it since he had supplied me with enough of high level Monster Cores.

But I couldn’t use those because I needed to save them for my final plot against Daisy and the protagonist.

Sigh!

’I had finally reached the bottleneck.’

My level was 30 now, and even a low level Chaos Monster couldn’t create enough havoc for me to level up.

The pace was painfully slow, and the risk was high.

I had no alternative but to stop my leveling spree and concentrate on my Academy plan.

Which also brings us to the second important thing—the start of the Hunter Academy.

....

It had been approximately a week and a half since I first began attending lessons at the Academy.

"Everyone pay attention... Today I will teach you The Right Thumb Theory of wrapping Mana around your weapons, and after that we will have a duel amongst cadets."

The deep voice belonged to Isaac, an Instructor with ash gray hair who was sponsored by my family and had helped me during my Class awakening.

His job was to instruct us in the proper use of mana in combat, in tandem with our weapons.

Surprisingly, he ended up becoming our Warrior-type Battle Class Instructor, even though the novel said that someone else would hold that position.

’The butterfly effect came faster than I expected.’

Due to my intervention, the storyline had already greatly deviated from its original path.

Making me feel like I had to deal with the protagonist quickly before something bad could happen.

In addition, I had gotten the distinct impression that he was dangerous.

His growth was even faster than in the story.

’Should I just kill him?’

Suddenly, I couldn’t help but had that thought.

’Maybe this time I should focus on completing the mission instead of the Grade.’

However, that thought only stayed for a second in my head before I shook my head and cleared my mind.

’No, no, what am I thinking? In the future, I will face even stronger protagonists than him, and who’s to say I will always face them in their weakest state?’

My expressions hardened at that possibility, and I became determined.

’I will get stronger the fastest, by taking everything available.’

Phew~!

With that resolve, I inhaled deeply and turned my attention back to the class, where Isaac had already finished explaining the theory.

"That’s it for the theory, practice it at home; this is your homework, and now let’s resume our session of duels from the last class."

Whoah~!

Hearing the word duel, the shouts of excited cadets resounded throughout the space.

And a red haired boy raised his hand, shouting out loud.

"Professor! Call me, me."

Everyone stopped shouting and stared between him and Isaac, but Isaac did nothing except shake his head.

"Harry, you have already gotten your turn in the last class, so now unless someone challenges you personally, you cannot come."

"Oh, no fair."

The red-haired boy Harry grumbled, but sat back obediently.

From there, Isaac began bringing cadets down to the stage one by one, until he got to Daisy, who faced off against another female cadet and easily won.

Noticing the results, Isaac nodded and asked.

"Alright Daisy, you have won the duel, and as per the rules, you can now challenge any onecadet you like, so who do you want to call down? Or go back to rest?"

"I..."

Daisy said, then paused in the middle.

Her eyes darted around the classroom, pausing on me and Mina as she gritted her teeth and pointed her finger.

"I call him."

Looking at where Diasy had pointed, Isaac nodded his head.

"Very well, Cadet Richard, come down on the stage below."

Our dear protagonist, Richard, who heard the call for a split second, couldn’t believe that Daisy had called him.

Nonetheless, for a simp like him, it didn’t take long to delude himself that his goddess had finally recognized his efforts and had started to see him as an equal.

Thinking as such, Richard came down on the stage and picked up the sword.

He was excited for the duel against Daisy, where he thought they would both exchange swords and might as well exchange feelings.

Unfortunately for our hero, he saw personally how unforgiving reality can be.

"I lost..."

The duel was over, Daisy won.

Daisy subdued Richard as easily as twisting a child’s wrist, surprising everyone, even the protagonist himself.

She took out all her anger on Richard, leaving his face bruised and bloodied, so the fight couldn’t even be termed a duel.

Nonetheless, a simp wasn’t called the best licking dog without reason.

And our protagonist, Richard, proved that point once again.

"Good match."

Daisy stared at Richard, her loyal dog, who was now raising both hands in surrender and congratulating her.

But she didn’t reply to him, instead, she turned her head and heard the commotion amongst the cadets with a strange smile on her face.

"Hey, wasn’t Richard an Ultimate potential? I heard he even beat a cadet from the second year. How come he lost to Daisy?"

"Haven’t you heard the rumors? It seems that Daisy’s actual combat power is way above her potential, and even that Richard is just her dog."

"Wait, are you for real?"

"Certainly the rumor wasn’t a lie..."

These were also heard by me, but I ignored them all and looked at Daisy.

Just looking at her expressions, I could tell that she was extremely enjoying this new fame.

A sign of reverence from those watching the duel in the room.

Surprise and astonishment.

It was proof of her improvement, and confirmation of her existence.

A testament that she would never live under someone’s shadow.

That she was still the queen.

But to me, she was just a fool.

’Stupid!’

Others might not know, but I—the culprit behind it all knew the reason behind Daisy’s sudden surge of power.

[Chaos curse]

A person infected by the Chaos curse becomes stronger for several days because the Chaos energy that had spread throughout their mana pathway ignites the pathway itself as the fuel.

Which means that once the energy released by the pathway had evaporated, all that was left was a person unable to use Mana.

At which point the Chaos curse would spread throughout the body and start eroding it until the person died and was completely turned into a source of Chaos itself.

Daisy must have felt the pain in her heart increasing and spreading throughout her body, but she didn’t even care a bit about it.

The addiction to this new found power was so great that Daisy knew nothing else except it.

Which made me curious.

’How would you feel, my love, if the power you’re so proud of turned out to be a poison that erroded you from the inside and rendered you an awakened who couldn’t even utilize her mana?’

’Would you feel the despair at that moment, my dear?’
