Virtual Reality Cultivator-Chapter 34: Blindfolded Training
Chapter 34 - 34: Blindfolded Training
Ethan stood tall in the middle of the room, observing Lazarus, who stood a few steps ahead. The training room was very simple—no advanced equipment, no holograms—just wooden floors, concrete walls, and a quiet atmosphere that created a deep impression.
"This training will be different from anything you've experienced," Lazarus said.
Ethan nodded. "I'm ready."
Lazarus gave a thin smile and then pulled a black cloth from his pocket, tossing it to Ethan.
"Tie this around your eyes."
Ethan caught the cloth and frowned. "So, this is a training exercise without sight?"
Lazarus nodded. "Exactly. If you want to develop true combat intuition, you must stop relying on your sight. Your Qi must become your eyes."
Ethan took a deep breath and tied the cloth around his eyes. Instantly, the world went dark.
Silence.
He could only hear his own breathing and the faint sound of Lazarus's footsteps on the wooden floor.
"Listen, feel, and trust your instincts," Lazarus said.
Suddenly—
Swoosh!
A punch came at Ethan!
His reflexes made him jump back, but—
BAM!
Another strike from the side hit his shoulder!
Ethan staggered, wincing. "Damn, I didn't even feel it coming!"
Lazarus chuckled. "Of course not. That's because you're still thinking like an ordinary human."
Ethan gritted his teeth. "So, I need to think like a cultivator?"
Lazarus stepped closer. "Not just think—you need to feel. Don't just wait for the attack to come, feel the movement of the air, the change in pressure, the intent that arises from your opponent."
Ethan took a deep breath and tried to focus.
He concentrated on his surroundings. Without sight, he began noticing things he had previously ignored—the sound of Lazarus's breath, the vibrations in the floor as he moved, and even the shift in the air before an attack came.
Swoosh!
Another attack came!
And this time—
Ethan moved sideways just in time, perfectly dodging the punch!
Lazarus smiled. "Interesting. You're starting to understand."
But before Ethan could feel satisfied, a sudden kick flew toward his abdomen!
BAM!
He couldn't react in time, his body was knocked back and fell to the floor.
Ethan muttered under his breath. "I'm still not fast enough."
Lazarus helped Ethan up. "You're on the right path, but your journey is far from over. Now, try again."
Ethan steadied his breath and stood calmly once more.
The training had just begun.
Surpassing the Limits of Instinct
After repeatedly falling and taking blows, Ethan finally began to feel a shift.
He wasn't just avoiding Lazarus's attacks—he started predicting the next move.
In one moment, Lazarus tried to trick Ethan with a quick movement, but Ethan—without hesitation—darted in the opposite direction before the attack even happened!
"I can feel it..."
Ethan smiled slightly. "I can feel his intent before he even moves."
Lazarus raised an eyebrow. "Good. That's what we call Combat Will— a state where your body doesn't just respond, but acts before the danger even arrives."
Ethan removed the cloth from his eyes and looked at Lazarus with excitement. "So, this is what you meant by true combat intuition?"
Lazarus smiled with satisfaction. "Yes. But that's just the beginning."
Ethan looked at his hands, still trembling after the long session. He wasn't just faster now—he felt more in tune with the world around him.
"If I keep honing this... I might be able to defeat Specter without relying solely on speed or strength."
Lazarus patted his shoulder. "Rest now. Tomorrow, we'll begin with more difficult training."
Ethan nodded. "I'm ready."
That night, he lay in his bed, but his mind was still full of all the lessons he had learned that day.
