Chapter 57: First Dungeon Issues

Finally the call to move out spread through their group of misfits, as they started to head into the dungeon. By sheer coincidence, it was at this same time that a group of three exited.

Not because they had failed, but because they were guild members doing the same thing as the streamer, ferrying newer players through.

Although in the guilds case, it was also a test to see if anyone exceptional was in their groups to give them a chance to join the guild, as well as to grind. Leading this group of three was a handsome, blonde haired man in shining armour that looked straight out of a story book.

The handsome prince idly glanced at the dungeon entrance, just in time to see a familiar face with shimmering black hair and pale features.

Percy stopped for a moment when he saw Belladonna, his eyes locked on her smile as she laughed and joked with her friends.

"Hey! Ray!" He stepped forwards and called out, but before his voice could reach her she had disappeared through the entrance and into her own instance. Even if he wanted to follow, he couldn’t.

But as if that wasn’t disheartening enough, a soft and seductive voice came from behind him as a delicate hand slid over his shoulder.

"Well, If it isn’t my prince in shining armour. Come to whisk me away and save me from these dreadful monsters, have you?"

Percy glanced at the delicate hand belonging to the beautiful woman with a face of utter disgust and contempt, but when he turned around to face the hands owner, he had changed that to a reserved and professional smile. Even if he couldn’t hide the disdain in his eyes, she didn’t notice or care.

She would most likely be distracted by her own reflection in his shiny armour.

"Hello Lox." He said, matter-of-factly, completely shutting down her flirtatious attempts, but she was anything put persistent.

LusciousLox pressed herself against Percy’s chest, her perfectly manicured fingers - even in this world - tracing patterns on his chest plate as she looked up at him with fluttering eyes while biting her lip seductively.

At least that’s how she saw it. In Percy’s eyes, it looked more like she had dust in her eyes and was trying to get it out by devouring her own mouth. It took everything he had to keep his professional smile.

"Mm, I heard a little rumour that you were waiting for someone. I mean, why else would the Golden Prince’s guild master, the great Ruler of Stars, still be slumming it in the starter area conducting apptitude tests with these noobs?

You’re better than that." She said with an overly breathy voice as she tried to gnaw her own lip off.

"Unless of course, you were waiting for little old me~ Well, I appreciate the gesture but I have my little friends over there who say they are going to help me. But of course if someone else were to ask..."

"That’s good, you’ll do fine with them." Percy spat out, grabbing her shoulders and peeling her off of him. He gave her another forced smile and stormed off, quickly collecting another group of applicants before heading into the dungeon.

This time, he wasn’t planning on coming out again. Especially not if she was here.

LusciousLox watched Percy leave with a hunger in her eyes, before clicking her tongue and storming off to go meet up with her gaggle of simps and sycophants that were going to carry her through the dungeon.

It was only because of that blood sucking bitch that she took this long to get to this dungeon. But perhaps, if it allowed her to make a connection with her beloved Prince, then it was destiny.

Even still, she still wasn’t going to forgive that girl. In fact, she already had plenty of ideas on what to do the next time they met.

***

The inside of the dungeon was not a cave, like one would expect from a door on the side of a mountain. Instead it was a forest filled to the brim with twisted trees with dark wood, jagged branches and deep red leaves. A clear pathway through the grass kept them on track, but movement in the treetops kept them on edge and there were a few temptations to be seen just off the beaten path.

Ripe and juicy Fruits hung from their branches, just daring them to climb up and take them. But the streamer quickly warned them away from it. Not all of these were regular trees, after all.

That was made perfectly clear when the first encounter of the dungeon broke out.

A few of the trees uprooted themselves, their roots wriggling through the dirt like tendrils and carried their immovable masters onto the path to block the party. Twisted branches turned into arms, plucking fruits from themselves as the trees began to throw their glistening red apples which erupted into miniature fireballs on contact.

They wouldn’t have been so bad on their own, as there was only a few of them, if it wasn’t also for the treetop inhabitants.

Giant Baboon-like beasts, easily a head taller than their tallest man, and with bodies covered crimson fur dropped down in front of them before they let out deafening roars and howls.

The living trees sat in the back, ignoring the Baboon’s, as they pelted their group with flaming apples whilst the Baboons used their large, pitch black claws to attack.

Skills were quickly cast and the group moved into their messy, barely organised combat formation as they started to chip away at the baboons and pelt the trees with long ranged attacks.

With Giddy excitement, Belladonna burst forwards, shooting out of the group and dodging through the flaming apple barrage, she leapt over the shield wielding player and swept her leg through the air.

A sickening crunch echoed out as her foot collided with a Baboons neck, snapping it instantly and throwing its body into one of its friends with enough force to throw the latter easily off of its feet.

The living Baboon clambered to its feet, let out another roar and immediately lunged back at Belladonna. It’s claws whistling through the air as she weaved between the feral swings with a smirk on her face.

Compared to the Ardent Bear, this was nothing. She could easily handle this thing without even breaking a sweat. Which made it so surprising when the streamer in charge suddenly screamed at her,

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, YOU GOD DAMNED IDIOT!"
