Chapter 186 Quarrel Of Deities

Loki's offer was rather tempting for Arthur and he knew that with the plans that he had set in his mind, things would probably be getting chaotic in the future.

Chaotic was what Loki liked a lot, as could be seen from his words.

'After all, he is a Deity of the Chaotic alignment. Even in multiple pantheons, he's caused enough chaos to be considered an outlier among the chaotic gods. The most dangerous part about him though is the fact that he's survived all this time despite the fact that he's offended hundreds of gods at this point.' Arthur thought to himself.

If Loki had the means to do all this, Arthur couldn't help but wonder what other things he could provide.

But just as he was thinking this, a new notification popped up. The notification was red and black in color.

>The Boar that swallows all guts roars in anger<

As soon as Arthur saw the words, he knew that this was another deity. The red color meant that it was a warning for Arthur and the Black color showed that it was an Evil Deity.

'The Boar that swallows all guts… Bulung.' Arthur recognized the title.

>The Boar that swallows all guts senses the decimation of his followers that had taken a vow upon his name<

>The Boar that swallows all guts is looking for the accused<

'He's looking for me?' Arthur narrowed his brows.

Normally, the death of Orcs wouldn't trigger their deity to take an interest in anyone who did that. But in the current case, Arthur had done a lot more. He had taunted an entire tribe and triggered the Shaman to take a vow.

As such a link was formed between the Shaman and the Deity Bulung. His death along with hundreds of Orcs had caused the deity to take an interest and grow angry.

And while his disguise had worked to fool the shaman, Arthur didn't think the trick would work on a Deity.

'If he causes trouble for me, things will get bothersome… he might set aggro curse perhaps.' Arthur knew the most common curse that the evil deity's like this placed.

They wouldn't attack the players directly as that would be beneath them. Plus there was also the issue of other gods taking notice. After all, players could have an affiliation with multiple gods.

A god directly attacking the devotee of another god could be taken as an offense against that god. The deities wouldn't be that careless, even if they were of the evil alignment.

Being evil did not mean they were foolish. Thus at most, they would place a curse, which was still tolerable to the other gods.

'Considering that many players had offended Bulung in the past, he placed a curse of aggravation on them.' Arthur recalled.

>The Boar that swallows all guts curses the player that has harmed his devotees<

>The Boar that swallows all guts has attempted to place a Curse of Aggravation on the player<

And just as Arthur had expected the deity attempted to do exactly as he had thought.

'Thankfully it isn't as bad of a curse. It simply attracts the anger of all other Orcs. If they see me they'll instinctively attack me.' Arthur thought to himself.

This was still something he could deal with.

But just as he was prepared for the curse to take effect, a miraculous thing happened.

>The Warmth of the Hearth prevents the curse of aggravation from reaching the player<

>The Mother of the Hearth, Hestia gazes upon the foul deity with a cold face<

>The Trickster who likes plays is hiding his presence from the Mother of the Hearth<

>The Trickster who likes plays is intrigued that the Mother of the Hearth has chosen to act<

"Goddess Hestia?" Arthur hadn't expected this.

>The Goddess smiles gently at the Player before looking at the foul deity. She questions whether the foul deity knows what he is attempting to do<

>The Boar that swallows all guts grunts and says that it is the player that has offended him<

>The Goddess Hestia scoffs and says that the player has done is no sin. It is just and the filth of the forest should have been cleansed long ago<

>The Boar that swallows all guts roars and says that does she really intend to overreach for one person<

>The goddess Hestia says that she will do as she wills and protect her children. She warns that if the foul deity does not desist, she shall call the Mistress of the Hunt<

Arthur couldn't help but feel rather amazed at that quarrel between the deities.

'She's even threatening to call the Mistress of the Hunt… but considering its Hestia, Artemis might really listen.' Arthur thought to himself.

>The Boar that Swallows all guts shivers at that name and becomes silent<

>The Goddess Hestia says that the Mistress of the Hunt has been yearning to hunt the boar for a long time and will be glad to hear about his appearance<

>The Boar that swallows all guts panics and disappears<

"He… ran away?" Arthur had never heard of a deity running away like that before.

>The Goddess Hestia chuckles and says that it is the fate of the foul boar to be hunted down one day<

"I thank the goddess for her help. I am grateful." Arthur said while bowing his head lightly.

>The Goddess smiles and says that it is her duty has a mother to protect her children. She says that even if the player has used trickery to kill the Orcs, it was still done for good<

>The Goddess is pleased that the player did this to protect the town and is happy with his work. She wishes the player good luck and takes her leave<

Arthur couldn't help but let out a breath of relief after everything was over.

"Guess the goddess had to take note because the town was being threatened." Arthur muttered to himself.

The temple of Hestia was in the town and was patronized by many of its residents. As such the goddess couldn't simply sit still while someone who was striving to protect the town was getting cursed.

But things were not over for Arthur just yet. There was still one god that hadn't taken his leave yet.

>The Trickster that likes Plays whistles and gives an appreciating look to the player<

"You liked that?" Arthur asked the deity.

>The Trickster that likes Plays says that his effort was saved due to the appearance of the Mother of the Hearth< 𝑏𝑒𝘥𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝘭.𝑛𝘦𝑡

"Oh? You were going to take action too?" Arthur asked.

>The Trickster that likes Plays nods and says that he doesn't wish for the player to suffer just yet. The player still has a lot of fun plays to set up for the Trickster<

"I see…" Arthur said, noticing the wording of the deity. 'Just yet, huh… guess he's still a chaotic deity in the end.' He thought.

>The Trickster that likes Plays says that he doesn't like the small boar either and would much rather see him on his plate. He wonders if the Mistress of the Hunt would be willing to share<

'Guess Bulung is just a 'small boar' to him. Makes sense considering their standings…' Arthur chuckled inwardly.

If one considered the rankings among the deities, Hestia and Loki were quite high up. Artemis would be slightly below them but would still be considered a major deity.

As for Bulung, it was just a small deity that could be killed according to the whims of other gods. The reason he was even left alive was due to the fact that he actually kept the Orcs under control.

Under his teachings, the Orcs learned to make settlements and had some semblance of society albeit a primitive one. This prevented them from going on random rampages, and even when they wandered the forests it was just to hunt for food.

Of course, the gods also had to follow the cycle of life and free will, not minding if the Orcs attacked other humans. It would be according to the will of life and would be considered 'natural'.

In fact, the boar god Bulung lived under the grace of another god which was none than the goddess of Forests.

She allowed him to let his devotees live in the forest such that they maintain the balance in the forest. The Orcs hunted down excess beasts and also humans in case they started poaching beasts.

On the other hand, humans would be motivated to hunt down the Orcs when their population exceeded a certain level.

This way the balance of nature was maintained and the gods were kept satisfied.

>The Trickster who likes Plays says that he'll leave now, but hopes that the player can show him another fun play soon<

>The presence of the Trickster who likes Plays has faded away<

~Sigh~

"Guess that brings this to an end… at least things didn't go too far." Arthur muttered to himself.
