Chapter 237 Mountain Surfing

Having stored everything, Arthur checked his current MP as well as the stored amount of Rock Bee Wax that he had.

<MP: 98 -> 49%>

'Considering the amount that regenerated while I was scraping the Rock Bee Wax, this is decent enough.' Arthur thought and took a look at the next window that was floating in front of him.

12. Rock Bee Wax : 97 Kilograms

——

"97 Kilograms… Damn." Arthur didn't expect he would get this much of Rock Bee Wax at once.

With the amount that was spilled on the ground, he had only estimated about half as much as this.

'If I sell it all, the average price would turn out to be about 10 Gold coins per Kilogram.' Arthur counted as he factored in the price reduction with the amount he would sell.

"But if I can space it out, I can get that much even with 50 Kilograms… And keep the rest for me." Arthur reckoned.

Of course, he didn't intend all of it as he only needed a certain amount of coins for now. Even with the basic amount that he would sell, Arthur would still end up the richest player in the game.

This even included the E-sports teams who were using multiple members to gather funds. They were unable to form a guild as of now, and thus they needed to do it manually.

But once they would form a guild, they would be able to pool in their funds directly through the Guild System.

'They'll have to get to the first city before they can make one. Wonder if they're prepared for the requirements though… it was rather shocking for most.' Arthur smiled at the future prospects.

"Ki?" The voice of Brambles was heard coming from the top at that moment.

"Everything's fine Brambles. I'm done and coming up now." Arthur responded to the beetle's query.

With that said he started to climb up and soon reached the top.

~Thud~

"Hah, if I have to do this more I probably should go to the Rock Climbing places to practice more." Arthur reckoned.

His real body might still be a bit weak and he might not be able to climb as well as he did in the game, but the practice he would get from it would form an innate ability which would make it easier for him to do the same in game.

There was even an expert rock climber who had joined Morpheus Online and had taken on a rather peculiar class that focused on acrobatics and grappling.

Due to the higher gripping strength that most rock climbers had, it allowed them to replicate the same in game. And with the game's assistance in adapting them into offensive skills, it became even better.

"Let's get back now, Brambles. We might just be able to get down by night time." Arthur said looking at the sky.

It was around 4 PM and it would turn dark in two more hours. Of course, it didn't matter much to Arthur due to his passive night vision, but it also meant that there would be more creatures coming out.

While they might not threaten Arthur, they would certainly slow down his journey back to the town.

"Ki!" Brambles responded in affirmation and added something more. "Kihi ri."

"You can just glide down? Hmm, yeah that'll work for you but if I do the same I'll get injured. Plus me being on your back will make you hard to fly too." Arthur explained to the beetle. "But thank you for your suggestion." He added.

"Ki!" Brambles nodded.

They turned around and took the previous path. Arthur was on the other side of the Trunel Woods and as such needed to face it first before descending down the mountain.

If he descended from this side, he would just end up even further from there. There were only more mountains and hills from here and it would take a few days to traverse them.

Though he would end up in a new area if he did take this path.

'The messenger who found the location of the Rock Bees should have taken this path too… though for them to go thorough here instead of the much simpler path… guess they were in a hurry.' Arthur thought. 'Or they were carrying something that could not be seen by others.'

A couple of hours passed before Arthur reached a dead end.

"Ugh, we can't go any further. The path is entirely gone." Arthur frowned.

It was clear that the battle between the Night Slayer and the unknown Silver eyed game was the cause behind this. He couldn't even climb down, as there were not enough places to hold on.

'How do I get down now… climbing down isn't possible at my level, and I don't have a feather fall scroll either.' Arthur pondered on his options.

While he was glancing down though, he noticed something.

"Huh, the rocky outcrops that were there originally have all been knocked out… the path is mostly slanting." Arthur muttered to himself as an idea formed in his mind.

'Can I use that method? But I don't even have the shield for it…' The method that Arthur was thinking of using was something bit crazy for most people.

It was to use a shield to slide down the mountain side. If a normal human did it, there was a very high chance they would die or sustain injuries. But in the game, even if one died they could revive.

The method had been created by several adrenaline junkies who liked to do extreme sports like sky diving, cliff diving and more. In the game since they had no fear of death, they simply did whatever they wanted.

One of them was a snow boarder and tried to do a deadly jump. Of course he died, but the fun was worth it. Other junkies saw that and wanted to go even more extreme.

That was when a few had the idea to do the same, expect off mountains using just their shields.

Of course they died too.

Until someone managed to perfect their balance along with the right kind of luck.

"Kiri?" Brambles let out a chitter, asking what they were going to do.

"No wait… I have the perfect shield here already." An idea popped up in Arthur's mind. 'But first… I got to check if he'll be able to withstand it.' He didn't wish to harm the beetle unnecessarily after all.

"Pet status," Arthur called out.

Looking at the stunningly high stats, Arthur felt ecstatic. While he had known that so many level ups would make Brambles quite strong, looking at the stats really brought it to reality.

'A Toughness of 64… almost halfway to what Captain Fredric was at.' Arthur compared.

"This will work!" he was sure of it now.

"Kiri?" Brambles asked what they were going to do.

"We're basically doing what you suggested but in a different way. Instead of gliding down, we'll just slide down. That way you won't have issues maintaining your balance." Arthur explained.

The beetle tilted its head, as if not grasping it fully. Arthur didn't mind that and simply explained a bit more to the beetle, as well as what they would do if they faced some obstacle.

"KIHI!" Brambles finally understood it all and turned around. "Kizzie!" he raised his outer carapace and chattered, asking Arthur to get on his back.

Brambles iridescent wings were revealed under the thick carapace and allowed Arthur to climb on. He then gripped the inner edges of the two carapace wings and spoke. "I'm ready!"

"KRRRRRRR!" The Dragon Horn Beetle let out an excited cry and jumped down the side of the mountain.

~THUD~

He landed on his belly with a loud thud, making Arthur tremble on the back. The man held on tightly though and wasn't knocked off.

[-0% HP] [Fall damage]

>Dragon Horn Beetle's defense has resisted the fall damage!<

"Haha, it's working." Arthur was joyous.

~RUMBLE~

The man and beetle started to slide down with Brambles putting his legs to the side. This allowed the beetle to control their direction somewhat and basically acted as a rudder like steering.

"Wooohoo!" Arthur shouted in excitement as adrenaline coursed through his body.

Wind blew through the gaps between Bramble's carapace wings, making the dark cape flutter behind Arthur.

If anyone were to look at the mountain from afar, they would see a large object trailing down its side, carving a shallow canal behind it.
