Walker Of The Worlds-Chapter 2806: Forgotten Presence
The incoming streak of Spatial Energy was far too powerful for Lin Mu to resist. Even if he wanted to use Meld again, his Qi simply wasn't responding—the recoil he had suffered was too severe. No matter what defensive technique he employed now, it wouldn't be enough.
Not against this.
This was Spatial Energy—the raw fabric of existence—and it didn't care about defenses. It bypassed durability, ignoring physical constructs and tearing through everything at a fundamental level.
Lin Mu tried—desperately—to do something, anything. But it was all for naught. The streak of energy was mere centimeters away, and he could feel its presence like an icy needle against his skin. It tingled, then burned, and blood began to bead at the points of contact.
HUMM
And then—right as it was about to hit him—everything changed.
The energy froze in midair.
Lin Mu blinked, stunned, as a cool wind whispered around him.
"Huh?" he gasped.
That's when he saw her—standing beside him as if she had always been there.
"Saintess?" he breathed, recognition dawning.
The Celestial Saintess stood tall, calm and radiant in the void, one hand extended casually. Between her fingers, she held the streak of Spatial Energy like a strip of silk—pinched and powerless. Then, with the flick of her wrist, she redirected it harmlessly away.
HUUU
Lin Mu exhaled sharply, unaware until now that he'd been holding his breath.
"Thank you… Saintess," he said, his voice hoarse with gratitude. He realized just how close they'd come to death—how close he had come to being obliterated.
In that terrifying moment, he had forgotten she was even with them.
The Saintess had joined them at the last second, stepping into the teleportation array just before it activated. But due to the sudden spatial distortion, she had been knocked off course, falling behind the group. Only now had she caught up.
Of course, for a Celestial like her, catching up wasn't difficult. But acting within a chaotic, collapsing channel still had its limits.
"It's fine," the Saintess said gently. "At least I'm not restricted here the same way I was in the world."
"That's good," Lin Mu replied, finally allowing himself to assess his injuries.
"Focus on recovering. I'll handle the rest," she said firmly.
"Alright," Lin Mu nodded, and quickly transmitted a message to the others, informing them they were safe—for now.
The others couldn't see anything in the corridor and hadn't noticed the Saintess's arrival. She preferred it that way. Better to handle things quietly.
Lin Mu sat cross-legged and began inspecting his condition in earnest.
He was a mess.
Multiple internal injuries rippled through his torso, the aftermath of his clash with Spatial Energy. He had sustained several physical injuries as well, his muscles bruised, some tendons torn. Fortunately, none were beyond repair.
With practiced precision, he swallowed a Qi Flow Stabilizing Pill, an Immortal Vitality Restoration Pill, and a general-purpose Healing Pill to expedite his recovery.
SHUA SHUA SHUA
While he did so, the Saintess handled the incoming Spatial Energy streaks with surreal ease. Each one was diverted, sent away before it could even threaten them. She didn't destroy them—doing so would only cause more turbulence. The released fragments of energy might tear open more fractures in the corridor.
Instead, she gently guided them along a new trajectory, allowing them to disperse naturally.
Lin Mu spent several hours like this—meditating, healing, regaining control—while the Saintess stood as their silent guardian.
"This should be enough, Saintess," Lin Mu said, finally opening his eyes. He activated his Spatial Perception and scanned the channel. "I don't see any more disturbances."
"Hmm… There haven't been any for the last hour," she confirmed.
Lacking Spatial Perception herself, the Saintess could only detect the streaks once they were near. With Lin Mu's confirmation, she finally relaxed.
"I'll take out the courtyard," Lin Mu said. "You can take my room."
"Alright," she nodded as Lin Mu brought forth the courtyard from his spatial ring.
The instability had mostly existed near the beginning of the channel, closest to the teleportation array. This deeper part was far more stable, and now they could move more freely.
"Waaaah! That was so scary!" Meng Bai cried out, collapsing onto the solid ground of the courtyard.
"It sure was," Daoist Chu agreed, his voice low. "Didn't expect to come this close to death…"
"Amitabha… Buddha had mercy on us," Monk Hushu murmured, still unaware of who had truly saved them.
Inside the courtyard's protective array, they could now see properly, no longer drifting blind through the dark.
"Ugh… I feel the nausea hitting," Meng Bai muttered, gripping his stomach.
Having floated weightlessly for so long, his equilibrium was shot.
GULP
He swallowed the anti-nausea pill Lin Mu had given him earlier and began to feel better within minutes.
Thankfully, it was his second time. His body had adjusted slightly, and he didn't feel quite as bad as before.
"Rest for now," Lin Mu advised. "I still need to recover, too."
It was then that the others noticed him properly—his pale face, the bloodstains on his robes, the lingering grimace of pain.
"Are you alright?" Daoist Chu asked, eyes narrowing with concern.
"I took some backlash from defending against the Spatial Energy. But I'll be fine," Lin Mu replied.
"It can injure you this badly?" Meng Bai asked, astonished. In his eyes, Lin Mu had always been invincible.
"Spatial Energy is far more terrifying than any attack from an immortal," Daoist Chu said solemnly. "Even a Transcendent would be torn apart by it."
"Whoa…" Meng Bai's awe grew. "And you blocked that?"
"Barely," Lin Mu admitted, sinking into a seated position once more.
He had done all he could. Now, it was up to the pills—and time—to restore him.
He let out a long breath and closed his eyes.
There was nothing more to do now but wait. This leg of the journey would take months to complete. Months in the depths of space, surrounded by the void, within a fragile thread of reality stitched between worlds.
