Warlock of Oceans: My Poseidon System-Chapter 464: Fifth Floor: The Molten Cavern of Lava Lizardmen (8)
Cyrus leapt onto the drake’s back, driving his blade into the base of its wing. The creature roared in pain, thrashing wildly as Cyrus clung on, using aetheric energy to keep himself anchored. Jesua seized the moment, sending a massive wave of shadow spikes toward the pack, forcing the other drakes to scatter.
The battle raged on, each movement a calculated dance of survival as the trio fought to push deeper into the lava drakes’ fiery domain.
The battle against the lava drakes intensified as the trio continued their relentless push through the fiery domain. Each step forward felt like a small victory in a war where retreat was not an option. The drakes, emboldened by their leader’s presence, attacked with greater ferocity, their molten scales shimmering like living fire.
Sylus shifted into a defensive stance, his frost sword glowing coldly in contrast to the searing heat around him. A drake charged at him, its claws swiping downward with the speed of a falling meteor. Sylus sidestepped at the last moment, bringing his sword up in a sweeping arc. The frost-coated blade met the drake’s claw, ice spreading rapidly across its arm. The beast snarled, its movements slowed by the numbing chill.
Using this opening, Sylus planted his foot firmly and pivoted into a spin, slashing horizontally across the drake’s midsection. The frost blade left a deep gash, steaming as the molten flesh recoiled from the cold. Another drake lunged from behind, but Sylus dropped into a crouch, its claws passing inches above his head. He rolled forward, coming to his feet and thrusting his sword backward in a blind stab, the blade piercing the drake’s thigh. It roared, limping as it withdrew, but Sylus didn’t let up. He turned, pressing the advantage with a series of rapid strikes aimed at its legs, further hampering its mobility.
Cyrus moved like a whirlwind, his aetheric sword glowing with a sharp, radiant light. Two drakes charged him simultaneously, their coordination a deadly threat. He feinted left, drawing one of them in, then spun to the right, his blade slicing cleanly through the softer scales near its neck. The beast stumbled, its roar cut short as Cyrus followed up with a downward slash that cleaved into its shoulder.
The second drake took advantage of the opening, lunging at Cyrus with jaws wide. He planted his foot firmly and swung upward, his blade clanging against its teeth in a shower of sparks. The impact sent vibrations up his arm, but he gritted his teeth and pushed forward, using his body weight to shove the drake’s head aside.
Cyrus then leapt onto its back, gripping its ridged scales with one hand while plunging his blade repeatedly into the creature’s spine. The drake bucked wildly, trying to shake him off, but Cyrus held firm, driving his weapon deeper until the beast collapsed under its own weight.
Jesua was a blur of motion, her form shifting between shadow and substance as she danced around the battlefield. A drake snapped at her, its molten jaws closing on empty air as she vanished in a swirl of darkness. Reappearing above it, she conjured a massive shadow spike and drove it downward into the creature’s back. The drake howled, twisting its body in an attempt to dislodge the spike, but Jesua was already moving again.
Two more drakes flanked her, their claws slashing at her with synchronized precision. Jesua backflipped, the tips of their claws grazing her as she landed gracefully on the smoldering ground. She extended her hands, shadow tendrils erupting from her palms and wrapping around the drakes’ throats. With a sharp tug, she slammed their heads together, the sound of cracking scales echoing through the air.
Jesua smirked as she conjured twin daggers of pure shadow, spinning them deftly in her hands. She darted between the dazed drakes, slashing at their vulnerable joints and leaving deep, blackened gashes. Her movements were almost playful, each strike calculated to disable rather than kill.
The pack leader roared, its molten wings flaring as it took to the air. From above, it unleashed a barrage of fireballs, each one exploding on impact and scattering molten debris across the battlefield. Sylus raised his frost sword, using its cold aura to shield himself and the others from the worst of the heat. "We need to ground it!" he shouted, his voice barely audible over the chaos.

Cyrus nodded and focused his energy into his blade, creating a glowing spear of aetheric light. He hurled it with all his strength, the spear streaking through the air and striking the leader’s wing joint. The impact forced the drake to falter, its flight becoming unsteady.
Jesua capitalized on the moment, vanishing into shadow and reappearing on the leader’s back. She drove her daggers into its shoulders, using them as anchors as she channeled a wave of dark energy into the creature. The drake screamed, its flight collapsing as it spiraled toward the ground.
With the leader momentarily grounded, the remaining drakes redoubled their efforts to protect it. Sylus, Cyrus, and Jesua regrouped, their breaths heavy but their resolve unshaken. Sylus used his frost magic to create a barricade of ice, forcing the advancing drakes to funnel into a narrow path where they were easier to manage.
Cyrus stood at the chokepoint, his blade spinning in wide arcs to deflect the drakes’ attacks. Jesua flanked the creatures, her shadow tendrils wrapping around their legs and yanking them off balance. Together, they carved a path deeper into the fiery village, the fight far from over as the drakes regrouped for another assault.
The trio pressed forward, their boots crunching against molten-crusted stone as the ambient heat thickened, beads of sweat forming even on Jesua’s usually impassive face. Before them, a deep rumble echoed through the fiery caverns. Emerging from the shadows were colossal lava drakes, their scales glowing a molten orange-red as if their bodies were made from living magma. Each of them was at least twice the size of the previous drakes, their wings spreading wide and creating gusts of blistering heat that forced the trio to brace themselves. Their eyes burned with an unnatural intelligence, and their movements were unnervingly fast for their size.
The largest drake let out a thunderous roar, shaking the cavern, and charged, its claws sparking against the ground as it launched itself forward.
Sylus darted forward to meet the charge, frost sword trailing a shimmer of cold mist as he aimed a diagonal slash toward the drake’s foreleg. The drake anticipated the attack, twisting its massive body mid-charge and swiping its tail with terrifying speed. Sylus barely managed to duck under the swinging tail, the force of its passage sending a wave of molten debris flying.
Reacting instantly, Sylus spun on his heel, using the momentum to slam his frost sword into the drake’s side. The ice spread along the beast’s molten scales, but the drake’s intense heat cracked the frost almost immediately. Sylus narrowed his eyes and shifted his strategy, feinting left to bait another tail swipe. When the drake complied, he vaulted over the swinging tail and landed on its back. Driving his frost blade into its spine, he channeled every ounce of ice magic he could muster, the blade glowing an intense blue as the temperature around him plummeted. The drake screeched, bucking wildly as steam erupted from its molten body.
Another drake lunged toward Cyrus with terrifying speed, its jaws snapping shut inches from his face as he leapt backward. He landed on a chunk of cooled lava, balancing precariously as the drake’s claws came down in a hammering motion. Cyrus rolled to the side, the impact sending shards of molten rock flying.
"Alright, big guy," Cyrus muttered, his aetheric blade flaring to life as he charged forward. He ducked under a sweeping claw and slashed upward, the blade leaving a glowing trail of energy as it cut through the softer scales beneath the drake’s arm. The beast snarled and retaliated with a blast of molten breath, forcing Cyrus to dive to the side.
Recovering quickly, Cyrus grinned and dashed toward the drake again, sliding beneath its massive body. As he slid, he slashed at its unprotected belly, leaving a searing line of aetheric light. The drake roared in pain and reared up, but Cyrus was already behind it, unleashing a concentrated burst of energy that struck its hind leg, forcing it to stumble.
Jesua stood still as a third drake fixed its molten gaze on her, its wings flaring as it leapt into the air. The beast circled above, raining down fireballs that splashed molten rock in all directions. Jesua didn’t flinch, her shadowy form melting into the ground to avoid each fiery impact.
Reappearing behind the airborne drake, she extended her hands, conjuring massive black tendrils that shot upward and wrapped around the beast’s wings. With a sharp yank, she dragged the drake out of the air and slammed it into the ground. As it roared and thrashed, Jesua conjured a shadow spear and hurled it with deadly precision, piercing the drake’s eye.
