Wasteland's Only King-Chapter 125 - 113: You Become the Blue Star Civilization Pioneer!
"S-680 Spaceship?"
Yu Jin listened to the hint provided by the "Strongman’s Spoils" ability, glanced down at the dying Eureka on the ground, and rubbed his chin.
"This Eureka guy... is really weak..."
"But honestly, not a bad dude."
"Travelled all this way, just to deliver an interstellar spaceship?"
Tap—
Yu Jin landed, letting the Light Wings behind him dissipate.
Though Eureka seemed "nice enough", Yu Jin was still planning to give him a seriously rough interrogation.
Intel about high-level civilizations, the rules of the Star System Wasteland—this stuff was all crucial.
Yu Jin really didn’t want to end up like when he just landed on A3 Planet from Blue Star—maxed out in Tier, but totally clueless about the game’s rules.
Except, Yu Jin didn’t expect—
He hadn’t even opened his mouth yet.
Eureka, struggling to sit up, flashed a bizarre grin.
"You..."
"You lowly bed bug..."
"Don’t even think you’ll get any information from me..."
Eureka was perfectly clear: he’d totally lost today, utterly and completely.
This "Yu Jin" guy—this cheater-tier bug player—was nothing but a hack!
On this A3 Planet, the max Tier cap was supposed to be Tier Nine, but the bastard was Tier Eleven!
And to make it worse...
When Eureka was being "pinballed" around by lasers and thunder earlier, he frantically contacted A3’s planetary rules to "report" Yu Jin as a cheater bug player.
The result—
[Strict determination in progress...]
[Player ’Yu Jin’ game actions comply with program!]
[Not identified as a suspected bug-class player!]
[Please continue investigation!]
A3 Planet’s rules’ answer made Eureka cough up blood!
Comply with the program?
He’s freaking Tier Eleven!
And that’s "compliant with the program"!?
Then came the kicker: "Please continue investigation"—Eureka’s psyche was totally fried.
Investigate?
He was about to get killed, and they want to keep investigating?
How about a little rescue, huh?
Eureka screamed for help like mad.
A3’s planetary rules just ignored him completely.
So...
Eureka fell into utter despair.
He knew he was going to die at the hands of this lowly bed bug named Yu Jin today.
Even at death’s door, he still kept a stiff upper lip.
Eureka could tell Yu Jin wanted information. Facing the end, he chose to cling to his dignity as a high-level civilization player.
"You can defeat me, you can kill me..."
"But there’s no way I’ll ever submit to a lowly bed bug like you!"
Eureka, in the sorriest state possible, still managed to spit out the toughest line.
"6!"
Yu Jin gave him a thumbs-up, ready to hit him with a major Memory Recovery Spell.
But—
"Old Yu?!"
"Whoa... It really is you?!"
Not far off—
A familiar voice rang out.
Yu Jin looked up. Sure enough, it was none other than his old college roommate, Wu Yufei.
At this point, Yu Jin and Eureka were just outside Alpha City’s main gate.
The earlier "Tier Nine brawl" had left the hundreds of thousands of refugees in Alpha City both awed and terrified.
Only Yu Fei dared to step out the city gate and make his way here.
"Yu Fei!"
"Haha, long time no see!"
Yu Jin put Eureka on the back burner for now and walked over to Yu Fei.
Their familiarity clicked right back—fist bump, just like old times.
Yu Jin sized up Yu Fei. The Eye of Insight showed—
This guy who used to be obsessed with grad school exams was now a Tier Four Evolver.
And Yu Fei sized up Yu Jin.
His "Knowledge" attribute delivered the info—
This bro, once an eco-warrior, was now scarier than the high-level player lying on the ground.
"Tier Nine?"
Yu Fei went silent for a moment, then suddenly spoke up.
"More or less."
Yu Jin smiled, nodding.
Lying on the ground, Eureka heard this "more or less" and his face flushed with rage.
Pffft—!
Eureka coughed up blood again.
This time, his pale purple blood was mixed with bits of shredded organs.
...
...
Bang—!
Bang bang—!
On the ground, the sound of sharp collisions rang out.
Yu Fei half-kneeled before Eureka, wielding a "steel shovel," and was smashing it furiously into Eureka’s head.
"You sure you don’t need help?"
Yu Jin watched Yu Fei struggle with the digging and couldn’t help but ask again.
"No need, I got this!"
"His head is full of knowledge—I have to dig it out and analyze it myself!"
"If you help, I might end up losing some of that knowledge..."
Yu Fei said, then swung the "steel shovel" again with renewed ferocity.
This "steel shovel" had just been crafted by Yu Jin, using his Tier One Metal Ability to condense metal elements together.
Otherwise—
With his Tier Four Evolver body, even with Eureka completely unable to fight back, Yu Fei couldn’t have broken through a Tier Nine’s defenses.
Time ticked by.
Bang—!
Yu Fei’s efforts finally paid off.
That last swing split open half of Eureka’s skull.
"Aaaargh—!"
Eureka, previously passed out cold, screamed in agony.
Swoosh—!
Yu Jin finished him off with One Laser.
Eureka passed out again.
"Knowledge..."
On the other side, Yu Fei looked a little unhinged.
Bare handed, he dug out Eureka’s big purple brain, holding it up with extreme care.
"So much knowledge!"
Yu Jin actually felt a bit creeped out by the scene.
Buzz—!
The next second—
Strings of symbols emanated from Yu Fei.
These symbols converged into a stream of energy, which blasted straight into the purple brain in his hands.
Sizzle sizzle—
The sound of burning echoed unceasingly.
No one knew how much time passed.
The purple brain disappeared, Yu Fei lost consciousness, slipping into a coma.
For peace of mind, Yu Jin used the Eye of Insight to check on him.
[Wu Yufei]
[Mother Star: Blue Star]
[Tier: Tier Four (rapid ascension in progress)]
[Attribute: Knowledge]
[Abilities: Memory Inheritance Lv2, Knowledge Imprint Lv2, Knowledge Verification Lv3, Structural Torrent Lv1]
[Evaluation: ...Due to the rapid absorption of Ula Yurika’s vast knowledge memories, has fallen into a coma. Once he digests this data, his Tier and powers will skyrocket.]
Confirming Yu Fei was okay, Yu Jin finally relaxed.
Turning back, he looked at Eureka, who was barely hanging onto his last breath.
"Goodbye."
"You were a good guy."
Yu Jin raised his hand.
Swoosh—!
Level 9 Laser.
Eureka was utterly vaporized into nothingness.
But the next second—
Just as Yu Jin was about to heft Yu Fei and head back to Alpha City, his movements froze.
[With an ant’s body, you managed to suppress "Level II Selza Civilization Tier Twelve Evolver—Ula Yurika"!]
[Civilization Source Points +100!]
[You have acquired: Tier Twelve Energy Crystal *1]
[You have acquired: inheritance left behind by a certain Tier Eleven powerful being]
[Evaluation: Upon opening, you may get resources, abilities, attributes, memories, etc., from the Tier Eleven powerful being in their lifetime... or perhaps nothing at all.]
[Hint: Can only be opened at Tier Eleven or higher.]
"Reward?"
"System reward?"
Yu Jin was beyond shocked.
Up till now—
He only got system rewards for killing mutant beasts and infected bodies.
Killing Evolvers, like the Bright City Lord or Daluo City Lord... for those, the system never made a peep!
Yu Jin had always assumed that to the system, fighting mutant beasts and infected bodies—the "pollutants"—was the true goal, while killing Evolvers—cannibalism among your own—wasn’t encouraged.
If anything, protecting Evolvers (like Naiya, a High-tier Evolver) yielded big juicy rewards from the system.
But now?
Yu Jin stared at the text info on the system panel, lost in thought.
What caught his eye wasn’t the "Tier Eleven Inheritance loot box," but...
"Level II Selza Civilization?"
"Civilization Source Points?"
He understood the first part, but the latter...
Yu Jin asked the system in his mind.
[Searching...]
[Search complete!]
[Civilization Source Points: An important item used to raise your civilization’s permissions in the ’Wasteland’ game.]
"What exactly do ’game permissions’ mean?"
Yu Jin pressed on.
[Searching...]
[Search complete!]
[Your current Tier is too low to access this information.]
After that—
No matter how much Yu Jin probed, the system revealed nothing further.
Still—
A little while later—
Bee-beep—!
An icy mechanical notification blared in Yu Jin’s mind.
It was a message from the "Wasteland" game!
[Greetings, player ’Yu Jin’ from I-Level Civilization Blue Star!]
[Detected: You have acquired Civilization Source Points *100...]
[You are the first player on I-Level Civilization Blue Star to obtain Civilization Source Points!]
[You have received a reward from the ’Wasteland’ game—]
[You have acquired resource: Internal Testing Helmet *10]
[You have acquired title: Blue Star Civilization Pioneer!]
[Title effect: After accumulating 10,000 Civilization Source Points, you can unlock civilization authorization features ahead of time!]
[Please continue to acquire more Civilization Source Points, and lead your Blue Star civilization further in the ’Wasteland’ game!]
...
...
Alpha City.
City Lord’s Mansion.
Yu Jin sat on the City Lord’s throne, frowning and lost in thought.
He hadn’t expected that just killing a high-level civilization player would trigger so many aftershocks...
System reward, ’Wasteland’ game reward...
Civilization Source Points, Internal Testing Helmet, Blue Star Pioneer title, civilization permissions...
Compared to all that, Eureka’s "S-680 Micro Interstellar Spaceship" was just kind of an afterthought.
Since crossing into the Wasteland,
it had been over eight days.
Yu Jin’s understanding and knowledge of the ’Wasteland’ game had already been flipped on its head multiple times.
At first, he thought it was just an apocalypse survival game.
Then, he thought it was a lord-vs-lord war game.
Now?
Yu Jin realized this game seemed to be played "by civilization."
But—
Is it really only "by civilization"?
Yu Jin thought of Eureka—he came from the Level II Selza Civilization.
The Blue Star to which he belonged was only a Level I Civilization.
So—
Could there be Level III, Level IV, Level V, Level VI... civilizations out there?
What exactly was the ’Wasteland’ game to them?
Was it run by some mastermind, or was it just another participant like Blue Star and Celsa Star?
For a moment, Yu Jin’s mind was a mess.
Time passed slowly.
Outside Alpha City, daylight dimmed.
At the edge of the Wasteland Wilderness, the sun was about to set.
"Ugh..."
Before Yu Jin, Wu Yufei stirred awake, lying slouched on a chair.
He rubbed his eyes, thumped his head.
Clearly, in such a short time, he hadn’t fully digested the knowledge from "Ula Yurika."
"Old Yu?"
Yu Fei turned, spotting Yu Jin in the City Lord’s seat, and was clearly stunned.
He sat there for quite a while before finally coming to his senses, recalling what happened.
Next, he bowed his head in silence, apparently thinking and sorting out his words.
Another long moment passed.
Yu Fei finally looked up at Yu Jin.
He took a deep breath, then spoke two sentences that caught Yu Jin completely off guard—
"The pollution can’t be stopped."
"Blue Star is doomed to destruction."
