Chapter 378: Giant palace

This was a palace that was completely different from the palaces that were in the capital of the different empires.

That was because this was a different style of palace.

Now that I was looking more closely at it, I realized that this entire city was in a completely different style than the cities of this cultivation world.

The cities of the cultivation world were built in an Eastern style since this was a cultivation world.

But the city and this palace that was hidden under the Tarask Desert was built in a Western style. It was reminiscent of a medieval town with the way that everything was built.

Though the buildings of this underground city were made of quite sturdy materials instead of just wood.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have lasted for as long as they did.

It seemed like these buildings weren’t made of just normal stones either. Based on the spiritual energy fluctuations that came from these buildings, it was clear that they were made from a very powerful material.

One that could be used to make powerful artifacts and weapons.

The fact that they were being used to make buildings instead could be considered a waste of these materials.

But it wasn’t as if I was in a position to judge the people of the past for what they had done. These materials and this city belonged to them, so they were free to do whatever they wanted with them.

Only...it seemed like the civilization that lived here in the past was quite powerful or else they wouldn’t have been able to build such a city.

Just what had happened to them?

As I was thinking this, there was a map that popped up in front of me.

It was the 3D map that I had asked the system for, but it wasn’t exactly the map that I wanted.

It was a 3D map, but it was a 3D map of the palace alone.

There was only the palace that was on the 3D map and not a single trace of the buildings in the surrounding area. It was almost as if the system didn’t even bother looking at the surrounding area and just focused on the palace alone.

So I couldn’t help asking, "What about the rest of it?"

The system was silent for a bit before saying, "This is the map."

It said it in a way that seemed definite, as if there was no further discussion of this matter.

A bitter smile appeared on my face as I asked, "If you only give me a map of the palace, what if there are things that are in the surrounding area. What will happen if they get in the middle of my fight with the invader?"

"There’s no need to worry, there is nothing there." The system just calmly replied as if it wasn’t its problem.

The bitter smile on my face became even more bitter when I heard this.

If you’re saying this, doesn’t that mean that you’ve already checked the area. If that’s the case, can’t you just give me the results of your check?

I’m sure that a map would have been generated as a result of this.

But the system just remained silent after saying this.

It was as if no matter what I said, the system wouldn’t react.

In the end, I had no choice but to give up since I knew that it would be impossible for me to convince the system to give me the map that I wanted.

The system was strangely stubborn when it came to things like this...

So with a sigh, I headed into the palace while following the map.

I had to admit that although the system was a bit stingy when it came to the map, it didn’t slack on its work. The map that it gave me was a perfect map that routed out all the different paths through the palace.

It almost seemed like it had completely scanned the palace with how detailed the map was.

That made me complain even more since if it could do something like that, it should have been able to scan the surrounding area. I didn’t understand why it was being so stingy about its things.

That was because I didn’t know the truth.

"Do you know how hard it is to do this kind of stuff? I’m being restricted by god because this is a lower realm and you want me to do all this?" That was the complaint that the system wanted to make, but it didn’t make it in the end.

With the 3D map, I came closer and closer until I was right outside the room that the red dot was in.

But I didn’t go in right away.

I could see that there were piles of sand that were at the door of this room showing that there was something that was inside. This was different from all the other rooms which seemed clean.

I didn’t head in right away and instead started moving to the other rooms that were in this area.

I was slowly looking over the area to see if there was anything that I could use and to familiarize myself with the area instead of rushing to attack the invader.

Last time I had made the mistake of letting my guard down and then I had been hit with the soul attack of the bookworm. This time, I wouldn’t make the same mistake and would make sure that everything was safe before heading in.

Only there wasn’t much that I could use in the other rooms.

It seemed like all of these rooms were made so that they would be separated from each other. There were too many windows and the balcony was too far for me to reach without making any sound.

It seemed like the only option was the main door...

So I called out the four beasts that were with me and stood there in front of the main door.

Taking a deep breath, I pushed the door open.
