Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 441: Wedding gift
From the street vendors, I actually learned a lot about Mu Bao Bao.
It turned out that all of them knew about her identity, but that wasn’t the reason that they approached her.
She hadn’t even bothered hiding her identity when she snuck out before and it was impossible for her to hide her identity when there were those guards that followed her.
The reason that they fed her in the first place was because they enjoyed watching her eat their food. The way that she always ate their food with a face filled with joy filled them with joy as well.
They just were happy to see her eating so happily.
They didn’t even care about the money that the servants from the palace offered them afterwards since they just wanted her to come back and eat their food more.
When I learned this, I couldn’t help looking at Mu Bao Bao with a faint smile on my lips.
She had been eating the entire time while the street food vendors had been telling their story.
With the way that she acted, it was almost as if she had been embarrassed by the stories that they told. That was partly why she had been stuffing her face the entire time, the other part was because she really was hungry.
Only when she saw me looking at me like this, Mu Bao Bao couldn’t help revealing a confused look as she asked, "What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"
I just said with the same smile, "Nothing, I just feel that I’ve gotten to know you a bit better now."
Mu Bao Bao still looked confused when she heard this, but the street vendors around us seemed to nod in agreement to what I said. That just made Mu Bao Bao even more confused and a little embarrassed, which was why...
"Uncle Zhou, what are you talking about?"
"Aunt Gu, why are you smiling at me like that?"
"Little Hu, you think that I won’t pinch you just because you’re a child?"
She was ’lashing’ out at them to hide her embarrassment, but no one seemed to mind at all. The way that they looked at her was almost as if they were looking at a child throwing a tantrum.
They weren’t upset by it, they just found it cute.
Seeing them all act this way, I understood why Mu Bao Bao had the personality that she had.
By all rights, she shouldn’t have this kind of personality if she had been raised in the palace. It turned out that she had developed this kind of personality because she had been in touch with the commoners the entire time, so she wasn’t the isolated kind of royal that didn’t know anything about the normal people.
In a way, it could be said that it was because of these street vendors that took her as one of their own that resulted in the current Mu Bao Bao.
That was most likely why Mu Huang had never stopped her even though he knew that she was running away from the palace.
Watching them like this was quite endearing and warm.
As I sat there watching, I could tell that there was someone who was looking at me the entire time. The look on her face made it quite clear that there was something that was on her mind, something that she wanted to talk to me about.
"Just say it if you have something to say. Is there a need to keep things between us now that we’re married?"
I knew that it wasn’t just now that she had something to ask me, she had something to ask me all of last night, but she never said anything because she thought that it was what a good wife would do.
But I never wanted to do that to my wife.
I wanted there to be open communication with us.
After hesitating for a bit, Liu Ao Xue asked, "What are you planning on doing?"
I looked at her and said, "I’m simply acting like a prodigal, there’s nothing else that I’m planning."
I could tell by the way that she looked at me that she was filled with doubt about this, but I really was telling the truth.
Well, not the full truth, but close enough to the truth.
Still, seeing her look at me like this made me feel a bit guilty, so I added, "It’s a way of getting stronger. You should have seen all the things that I’ve done before and how I’ve gotten stronger because of it, so I hope that you will just trust me when I say that this will make me stronger."
There was a strange look on Liu Ao Xue’s face when she heard this, but she slowly gave a nod in response.
If it was anyone else, she wouldn’t be satisfied with this answer.
But since I had said it so sincerely...
She figured that it was something that I just couldn’t talk about.
In that case, as my wife, she knew that she shouldn’t push this any further.
At the very least, Liu Ao Xue was happy that I had made an exception and told her a bit extra compared to everyone else. At the very least, I was giving her a bit of information that no one else had.
Seeing her look like this, I still felt a bit guilty.
So in the end, I said, "Speaking of which, we really did get married in a rush."
Liu Ao Xue was surprised to hear me mention this, but there was a trace of bitterness that appeared on her face after I said this. That was because what I said was the truth.
Because of the circumstances, we had gotten married in a rush, but she was happy about this since she knew the reason why I insisted on getting married before leaving the lower realm.
She didn’t really have much else to ask for until...
"I think that I should get you a few things as a wedding gift. So how about we go around and take a look later."
Liu Ao Xue’s eyes lit up when she heard this.
She looked at me with wide eyes before slowly giving a nod.
There was no helping the upwards curving of her lips after she heard this.
But beside this happy couple, there was someone whose hands became a bit slower when she heard this. There was this strange feeling that filled her after hearing the two of them talking about this.
A feeling that was hard for her to understand...
