All of them are descendants of his brother men that had died and Khunbish sighed

Seeing all of this Khunbish could not help but think this is one of the reasons why the Khan had never been defeated

How could Nergui tribe defeat the Khan right now?

From the very beginning, the method of attack of the Khan is very different.

He attacks the people and attacks the hearts. Not many people could withstand such attack.

"Sending spies to infiltrate the tribe and persuade the warrior to defect. How many tribes could use such tactics" Khunbish sighed and then close his eyes.

Even though he had betrayed his tribe, this did not mean he wanted to hear the outside battle.

After all, these are still people he knows and hearing them die and defeated is not something he takes pleasure on.

While Aeryon is breaking through the defence line of the Chagai tribe and Belarion and his deputies are breaking through the Karaldyk settlement forcing the Nergui tribe to be pinned down in their own territory, in the north of Nergui tribe was the Ultar tribe.

And the one that is attacking this tribe is two Noyan.

It means twenty thousand men. Twenty thousand horsemen.

There is Noyan Burchu and there is Noyan Mukhulai.

They at first attack different region of the tribe.

Mukhulai had even once attack some of the Nergui tribe defence and settlements bringing ten thousand men with him to raid and rob the tribes of the west. But now the gathered around a plain

Around thirty-five thousand horsemen in in the plain against thirty thousand men of the Ultar tribe.

Nergui tribe did not fight a decisive battle yet with Belarion.

It is the same for the Chagai tribe.

This is only a few weeks after the expedition to the west and there is time and place for such a decisive battle.

But somehow, the Ultar tribe and the forces of the Brolgadhr tribe that has been sent to the Ultar region has managed to force the Ultar tribe to meet them in a decisive battle

And today they would fight that battle that would decide whether Ultar tribe could continue fighting in these five front battles or if they are forced to retreat from the battlefield and could only defend their own territory.

Burchu and Mukhulai both commanded their own army, and both have their own objectives.

As Noyan they have considerable freedom to act, and they are beholden only to the Khan. As long as they fulfil the order of the Khan everything else is permitted

But Burchu and Mukhulai, these two great men who have been elevated and trusted by the Khan did not have such arrogance and before they attack the Ultar tribe, they both coordinated with each other

This is because their objective is the same and they did not have such arrogance to look down upon the other.

Which is rare considering that Mukhulai is a former slave and some people would take time to ignore this fact.

But Burchu did not look down on Mukhulai and instead cooperated with him. It is precisely because of this they managed to force the Ultar tribe to an early decisive battle

Most battle in the steppe is fought on the open fields. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Their armies depended on horse mobility, and an open plain is their natural battlefield. The horse and the Steppe people are like something harmonious matched together.

And everyone knows how they fight each other

Fast cavalry manoeuvre, hit and run attacks, encirclements, feigned retreats.

There is no one better in this kind of method than the people of the Steppe.

It is the same reason why those empires could never subdue them for long

They could curse them with a thousand words yet, in the end, when the horse of the Steppe enters their city, a thousand curses and a thousand articles could not stop them

But Burchu and Mukhulai has mastered this method.

They mastered the method of using space to deploy multiple mounted wings, from let right and centre.

And they are more lethal at it.

Their men are armoured and their heavy cavalry and light cavalry complimented each other.

And most decisive battle happened always some distance away from the settlement

Why?

Because yurts, encampments and settlement were vulnerable and the horse needed pasture

And those who fight wanted freedom to manoeuvre.

But mostly it is even if you are there to destroy your enemies, you wanted the land to thrive and you did not want to go scorched earth on a land you wanted to occupy for your horses and for your people.

As for the decisive battle between Ultar tribe and Brolgadhr tribe today, they are in an open grassland.

To achieve this battle today, Burchu and Belarion had fought the Ultar in ambushes and counter ambushes and field skirmishes along river valleys and plains all over the territory of the Ultar.

One must understand something about the Steppe.

The fight and battle in the Steppe is rarely fought in the settlement itself. Most of them are fought...near...the settlement

But this attack is unlike the siege battle in Roma or in Yan but in raids.

In the Southern Great Steppe, some great tribes do have some permanent settlements

But even this so called permanent settlement is not really permanent.

When the fertility of the land receded, when there is threat so powerful that it threatens the tribes the tribes of the Steppe did not have so many attachment and could easily relocate unless there is something special about some place
