Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 153: Elle Was Born of Vivian Quinn
"What did you say?" Jett Sterling’s face darkened. "Say that again."
Wendy Reeves could feel his hostility. Her heart trembled with fear, and her voice unconsciously grew softer. "I was just making a suggestion. I thought it was the best possible outcome."
"Don’t even think about it!" Jett Sterling warned coldly. "And you are absolutely forbidden from saying anything like that to Vivian."
Wendy Reeves muttered under her breath, "But I already told her..."
Jett Sterling’s expression grew even colder. "When did this happen!" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Right when Elle came back..." The more Wendy Reeves spoke, the more a chill ran down her spine. She felt both terrified and wronged. "I was just thinking of what’s best for Elle..."
Jett Sterling said nothing, simply maneuvering his wheelchair away.
...
Upstairs, Vivian Quinn was helping Elle unbox his toys.p>
"Elle, do you like the gift I gave you?"
"I love it. I’ll love anything Vivian gives me."
Vivian Quinn couldn’t help but pat his head. "Elle, you’re so cute."
"Vivian is cute too!"
"Hmm, should I help you build the Legos?"
"Okay."
The next second, Vivian Quinn’s stomach started to GRUMBLE GRUMBLE.
Elle burst out laughing. "Vivian, your tummy is hungry! I’ll take you to eat."
Vivian Quinn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Watching him lead the way so bossily, he was the very picture of a tiny little tyrant!
At the dining table, Jett Sterling watched Elle as he ate. "Do you get into a lot of fights at preschool?"
Elle had already eaten lunch. He was sucking on a lollipop and said nonchalantly, "They made fun of me for not having a daddy. Of course I’m going to hit them. What am I supposed to do, save the fight for New Year’s?"
Everyone: "..."
Wendy Reeves’s heart ached for him. "Kids that rude deserve to be hit. And how could our Elle not have a daddy!"
Jett Sterling asked again, "You’ve known I existed for a while, right?"
"Yep. Mommy showed me your picture a long time ago. She said you’re the smartest person in the world, and that’s why I’m so smart."
Everyone: "..."
Jett Sterling looked at Wendy Reeves. "And you still don’t think she premeditated all this?"
"It’s perfectly normal for a mother to let her child know his father exists!" Wendy Reeves knew she couldn’t win an argument with Jett Sterling, so she immediately sought backup. "Vivian Quinn, wouldn’t you agree?"
Vivian Quinn nodded lightly. "If she told the child about you before we got married, I’d find that perfectly reasonable. But if she only told him after we were married, then I can’t approve of that behavior."
Jett Sterling asked Elle, "When did your mommy show you my picture?"
"A few days ago," Elle said, blinking his big, beautiful eyes. "Mommy said she was bringing me back to the country to find Daddy, and she was afraid I wouldn’t recognize you, so she showed me a picture."
Jett Sterling gave a faint smile. "Mom, do you have anything else to say?"
Wendy Reeves: "..."
"Jett, let’s take a step back. Even if she did all this, it was for the child’s sake. As long as it’s for the child’s good, I, as his grandmother, approve." Wendy Reeves pouted. "If Shirley Wentworth hadn’t sent the boy back, I might have gone my whole life without knowing I had a grandson!"
Jett Sterling was about to speak but was interrupted by Vivian Quinn. "Let’s not discuss this in front of Elle. It’s not good for him."
Only then did Jett Sterling fall silent. He placed some food on her plate. "We won’t talk about it. Just eat."
After lunch, Elle insisted on having Vivian Quinn accompany him for his nap.
Vivian Quinn had no experience putting children to sleep, but she couldn’t resist Elle’s persistent pleading and had no choice but to agree.
The two of them lay on the bed, and Vivian Quinn felt a little awkward. "Elle, do you need me to tell you a story?"
Elle looked at her with disdain. "Only little kids need grown-ups to coax them to sleep. I don’t!"
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"Then go to sleep by yourself."
"Vivian, hold me."
Vivian Quinn reached out and hugged him, and Elle immediately burrowed into her embrace.
Vivian Quinn froze. For some reason, a strange feeling stirred in her heart!
The moment Elle hugged her, she felt a missing piece of her heart had been filled!
Vivian Quinn didn’t know why she was feeling this way, but she couldn’t deny the affection she felt for this child.
His body was so small and soft, in need of protection, and she wanted to be the one to protect him!
Vivian Quinn gently patted his back. "Go to sleep now."
"Vivian, can you sing to me?"
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"Didn’t you just say you don’t need a grown-up to coax you to sleep?"
"I don’t need to listen to childish fairy tales, but I never said I don’t need to listen to music."
Vivian Quinn: "..." ’Er...’
"Then what song do you want to hear?"
"Anything is fine."
Vivian Quinn mentally reviewed the songs she knew well. "Alright, I’ll sing one for you."
"Okay."
Vivian Quinn sang a song she loved, "500 Miles."
She felt the song was fitting for the moment, written for her, and for Elle too.
Elle closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep to her sweet singing.
When the song ended, Vivian Quinn looked at the soft, adorable little face in her arms. She finally couldn’t resist leaning down slowly and kissing his forehead.
The feeling in that moment was so wondrous. She even felt more joyful than she had during her first kiss with Jett Sterling!
Vivian Quinn gazed at him for a long time. Unable to fight off her sleepiness, she yawned and soon closed her eyes, falling asleep as well.
The bedroom door was pushed open. Jett Sterling maneuvered his wheelchair inside and saw the two figures embracing on the bed. His heart stirred inexplicably.
He knew Vivian Quinn liked Elle, but he hadn’t expected her to like him this much.
But seeing her sleeping while holding the child, his desire to have a baby with her grew even stronger!
He couldn’t help but think, ’How wonderful would it be if Elle were his and Vivian Quinn’s son...’
...
Vivian Quinn was woken by a kiss.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw a miniature version of Jett Sterling’s face.
"Good afternoon, Elle."
"Good afternoon, Vivian. Can you take a nap with me every day from now on? And sleep with me at night, too."
Vivian Quinn smiled. "I can consider napping with you, but not sleeping here at night."
"Why not?" Elle pouted. "Mommy always sleeps with me at night!"
A pang of sorrow suddenly hit Vivian Quinn. "She’s your mommy. That’s why she can sleep with you."
"Oh, so that’s how it is." Elle hugged her neck. "But I like sleeping with Vivian."
"Today was an accident." No matter how much Vivian Quinn liked him, she had to maintain boundaries. "I fell asleep by accident. I’m not supposed to sleep with you. You can only sleep with your mommy."
Disappointment showed on Elle’s face. "Okay then..."
Vivian Quinn smiled and patted his head. "Let’s get up. I’ll go build Legos with you."
"Okay."
The two of them hadn’t had their fill of playing when Nanny Jenner knocked and entered the room. "Young Madam, there’s a visitor outside."
"Who is it?"
"The young master’s mother, Miss Shirley Wentworth."
