What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?-Chapter 81: Using My New Skill
The giant Anomaly tried to swing around but Jia Lian smacked at its side with her sword, prompting it to pause and try to turn in the other direction.
As soon as it turned halfway towards Jia Lian, I attacked it from the other side, smashing my fist into its armour and cracking another crystal.
That made the Anomaly turn back around to try and attack me again, giving up its initial plan of attacking Jia Lian.
We’re lucky that this Anomaly wasn’t really that smart either as it just tries to attack the most recent person that was trying to attack it.
For now, this was the only way that we could keep it occupied but I’m not sure whether we could keep this up.
While the train of bunny girls were still moving into the portal, the longer our fight, the larger the possibility that it could attract more Anomalies here.
I had been trying to attack the Anomaly at the exact same place to see if I could break through the armour but... Even after hitting it so many times, the crack on the crystal barely got any bigger.
I looked behind, trying to see if any of my other Guardians were arriving anytime soon.
Right as I delivered another punch at the crystal, I saw Sergei turning around the corner, the former assassin taking a moment to look at the giant Anomaly we were facing before he rushed into the cavern in a blur of darkness.
He appeared beside me, his eyes still locked on the Anomaly that was trying to turn towards Jia Lian, "Mortal God... What is the plan?"
"We’re just taking turns distracting it so that it can’t actually attack, can you take my place for a moment? I want to try something."
"Of course, Mortal God."
He immediately jumped in front of me and struck the Anomaly with a shadow spike, forcing it to turn its attention towards him.
While he worked together with Jia Lian to distract it, I went ahead to jump on its back.
I was afraid the Anomaly would try and throw me off but it seems like it did not consider that as an attack so it just ignored me.
Perfect.
The reality manipulation skill of mine should be used as my last resort. So instead, I will try this other method first...
I steadied myself and placed my palms on its back, focusing my senses once again to reach my meditative state.
It only took a moment for me to be able to see the life energy that was underneath me and the amount of energy that entered my vision was one of the biggest concentrations of energy I have ever seen.
But as I concentrated on it a little more, I found something weird about the energy underneath me.
I’m not sure why but there’s a different feeling coming from this Anomaly, even comparing it to the previous Anomaly that I had absorbed the life energy from.
I’m not sure how to explain it but... It felt like the life energy below me wasn’t... Coherent?
After absorbing so many different Qi from around me, I could kind of recognise that the life energy came from different sources.
It’s like... There’s a different taste for the different sources of life energy I absorbed. Like the life energy in this rift felt just slightly different from the life energy on Earth.
But all of them at least had a sense of cohesion about them even if they are from different sources.
For the life energy below me, however, it felt like a mess... Like it came from different sources instead of one singular source.
Wait... If I am not wrong about this feeling... This is basically a combination of several Anomalies mashed together...
Ok, I understand now... This Anomaly is created by fusing several Anomalies together. No big deal, I can still do this...
I concentrated on the energy and started siphoning it out from the Anomaly.
I felt the life energy flow into me and this time, because I am actually fully cognizant and aware of what I was doing, I made sure to purify the life energy before I absorbed it into my core.
As for the black miasma that I purified, I gathered them in a bunch to prepare myself to expel them.
But after holding this position for at least a minute, I realised that the life energy inside this Anomaly had not even dropped by half and the black miasma was getting a little too big for my liking.
In fact... It felt like the ratio of life energy to black miasma was on a twenty to one ratio, making it really inefficient for me to absorb it.
I paused in the absorption to expel the black miasma out of my body through my mouth which ended up being released in the form of a plume of thick, black smoke.
The Anomaly underneath me seemed to slow down a little and it even looked more sluggish than before, meaning what I did must be working somewhat.
But with all that time I spent on it, I don’t think this was a viable way to get rid of it.
Seeing that I really didn’t have any other choice, I decided I should just use that new ability of mine here to get rid of it quickly.
"Sergei, Jia Lian!"
Both of them looked up at me.
"I’m going to kill it but that’s going to drain me of all my energy in a moment! I’ll leave things to you two after this, alright?!"
Sergei nodded, "Da. We will take care of this."
"Yes! Leave it to us!" Jia Lian agreed.
Alright... Focus on the same feeling the first time I did it...
I sucked in a breath and exhaled slowly before I extended my will to the world around me.
Nothing happened for a few seconds as the Anomaly underneath me continued to sway back and forth, not knowing which of my Guardians to attack.
I focused more into the feeling and it felt like a switch had been flipped before the world around me seemed to slow down and the colours became saturated again.
Very slowly, I extended my will to direct it towards the Anomaly below me, taking a moment to consider how I would deal with it.
The first time I did this, I willed the Anomaly to stop moving and that drained all my energy out from me.
And I had wondered if the amount of energy being drained is tied to the difficulty of the command.
Thus, I figured this time, I should just go with what I believe would be a simple one and might even help me deal with the loss of energy.
I focused my will and ’demanded’ that the Anomaly below me had all of its purified life energy drained and absorbed into my body.
Almost immediately, I felt extremely lethargic like I had just ran a marathon and was still in the midst of running.
Then the life energy of the Anomaly started to flow into me and since I specified it to be the purified life energy, I didn’t hold back and just absorbed them all into my core.
But the problem was that it felt like I was trying to pour water into a bucket that had a giant hole in the bottom. All of the energy that I was absorbing was flowing straight out as the reality I willed took effect.
I then realised that because my command was to have all of the Anomaly’s life energy flow into me, I had to spend my own energy to maintain that reality until it had passed.
And to maintain that energy requires way more life energy than what I can absorb from the Anomaly.
So despite the torrent of life energy that I was absorbing into my core, a greater amount of energy was being expanded to keep the new reality up.
It was not all for naught, however, as the life energy I was absorbing would still strengthen me in the long run after I recover and this also means that I would be able to drain this Anomaly of its life energy and kill it this way.
Sure enough, as my body started to feel heavier, I felt the flow of life energy coming from the Anomaly cut off and my body felt like lead.
The creature below me gave out a groan before it slowly toppled forward, crashing into the wall and flinging me off its back.
I didn’t even have any energy left so all I could do was ragdoll through the air and I could see the wall coming straight towards my face.
Right before I smashed my face into it, however, I felt a pair of arms snatching me out of the sky and I found myself in the arms of Olivia, the red Oni looking down at me in worry.
Nice catch, Olivia...
