What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 813: Beating Back Insurgents
I was fully expecting the first salvo to hit at least a few of the fighters but...
"Wah wah wah!! I can’t hit them, Daddy!!"
Aside from the High Intensity Lasers that barely had any travel time when she shot them... The railguns completely missed their marks.
Heck, even the lasers were not fired with a hundred percent accuracy either and when she did hit a target, it’s never more than just one target going down.
Yumiko chuckled, "It’s alright Renata. This is actually what is normal... The fact that Lea is able to use a ship’s main guns to hit multiple small targets with a single shot is exceedingly abnormal."
I nodded, "It’s alright Renata. Look, you’re already breaking up their formation and forcing them to scatter. The main guns aren’t designed to deal with small targets, that’s what the medium turrets and point defense lasers are for."
"Uuu... Daddy, I love you..."
I’m not sure why she said that out of the blue but I responded in kind, "I love you too, Renata. Keep up the good work."
Though... To be honest... This really made me realise just how insane Lea was with her aiming...
It wasn’t just that she could properly aim her gun at her targets but she could actually predict and subtly guide them with each of her shots to line them up for her kills where every single shot she took was meticulously calculated.
And she’s able to do that pretty much instantly and on the fly in a constantly changing environment.
Yeah... That’s pretty insane.
Still... This means that our situation is still a little dangerous here as we’re still facing quite an overwhelming number of enemy ships.
Right now, our hope is that the Exo-Knight pilots would be able to mobilise in time to help tilt the odds in our favour but the insurgents were obviously not going to let us get that advantage if they could help it.
They were already almost within firing range of our ships so we would have to move to engage them soon enough.
The good thing is that we would also be in the support range of the guns on both the Iridescence and the station itself so we should be able to deal with it somewhat.
The security team leader watched the fleet of ships rush towards us intently and as soon as they got inside the engagement threshold, he yelled out a single order.
"Charge!! Keep them away from the station at all costs!!"
I pushed the throttle lever forward and the ship shot forward, boosting towards the wall of enemy ships ahead of me.
"Yumiko! Weapon’s free!" I called out, flipping the safety off my ship’s guns as well.
She shouted back an affirmative and I concentrated on the enemies in front of me as I boosted straight towards a group of three fighters.
They shifted their angle of approach to meet me, one of them breaking off to try and flank me.
I lined up the crosshair with the lead fighter before pulling the trigger, firing the photon laser that was mounted at the nose of the ship.
The laser easily broke through the fighter’s shields and shredded through its hull, its engines exploding a second later before the ship spiralled out of control and into the void of space.
The other one tried to break away as well since it realised I had a weapon that could literally kill them in a single shot but they had nowhere to go anyway as I just adjusted my aim before pulling the trigger.
The second fighter had its hull pierced from the bottom as it banked away, the laser shredding through almost half the ship before it broke into two and exploded.
The third fighter tried to boost towards me to close the distance, only for Yumiko to fire the railgun at it before it could even get close.
The kinetic round smashed through the entire ship and split it into two, the debris floating off in opposite directions.
I pushed the thrusters and engaged the engines again, speeding towards the next group of enemy ships that were chasing after one of the security ships.
I pulled hard on the flight stick to turn my ship to face them before I unleashed a barrage of energy projectiles from my chaingun.
Two of them immediately went down while a third managed to bank away to avoid it.
The security ship immediately turned and went after that ship, blasting it apart with its own lasers before banking away, the ship giving a little wiggle as a sign of thanks to me.
I turned the ship around to look for more prey, right as the console started giving out a warning chime about my ship being locked onto.
I eyed the map to see a missile indicator heading straight for my ship from behind.
While I could just leave it to my shield to take the hit, I didn’t really fancy that happening if I could help it.
Pulling back on the throttle and pushing the flight stick to the side, I executed an emergency turn so that I was now facing the missile that was flying straight towards me.
I let loose a hail of energy bullets again from the chain gun and quickly shredded the missile apart, the projectile exploding a short distance away and leaving me untouched.
Using the map as reference, I quickly found the ship that had shot the missile at me earlier and sped over to it.
The Heavy Bomber tried to run as it realised its attack failed and I was seeking them out for retaliation.
Well... There was no chance for it to actually succeed in escaping since my ship was already faster than it.
Not like I needed to catch up to it either since a shot from my photon laser broke the shields before Yumiko shredded the ship into two with a railgun shot.
Unfortunately, our side was not without casualties as I spotted one of the security ships being blown apart by another insurgent ship.
My shield flared to life as several laser projectiles struck me from the side and Yumiko quickly turned the turret to fire in that direction.
Her shots went wide but it was enough to force our attackers to break off as they scattered to avoid getting shot at.
Of course, I wasn’t going to let them get away with that as I spun to chase after one of them shredding it with my energy chaingun.
I then sent my ship spinning to the side as a laser pierced through the space I had been occupying just a second ago.
Pulling back on the thrusters again, I slowed my ship down right as another ship barrelled past me before I reengaged my engines once more, realigning my crosshairs with the enemy ship.
My finger touched the trigger and the ballistic cannons were fired, blasting the fighter to shreds before I banked away.
Taking a moment to check the map, it looks like the fight was pretty even for now.
There were a few bombers that attempted to attack the Iridescence but Renata quite easily shot them down.
As expected, when she’s using the guns that were designed for this purpose, she would excel at it, especially since she was quite literally controlling the entire ship like an extension of herself.
Right as I was looking for another target however, I saw a mass of new dots appearing on the map coming from the station.
I turned to look, only to see an Exo-Knight blowing past me to fire the gun attached to its arm at one of the insurgents and blowing it apart.
It then spun around before firing several missiles out of its missile pod which blew up a few more ships before it finished the attack with another shot from its arm mounted gun to blow up a fighter trying to retreat.
More Exo-Knights followed and the tables were suddenly turned as the insurgent ships were quickly falling one after the other.
The previously rather balanced battle turned completely one sided as the Exo-Knights tore through them like they were toys.
"You weren’t kidding when you said it would turn things around for them huh..."
"I did say that the pilot does matter, Mistress."
Right as she said that, the Exo-Knight that had flown past us initially came flying back to wiggle its ’hips’ at us, as though it was mimicking the motion of shaking its ass.
Ah... That’s definitely Amber...
I’m going to spank her for doing that later.
Another Exo-Knight flew over me and pointed the rifle it was carrying forward before firing a single shot that pierced through four ships at once.
Yep... That’s definitely Lea.
I wasn’t sure if Mara and Ries were also in there somewhere but I figured they probably were.
With the Exo-Knights here, the insurgents went on a full retreat towards the freighter turned ship carrier with us chasing after them.
But the freighter seemed to have other ideas as it abandoned its allies and went straight for the warp gate, warping out of there without waiting for its comrades.
Needless to say, the insurgents that remained either surrendered or died very quickly.
Geez... What a day...
