Chapter 135 - 135: Conversation With Elenora!

Somewhere within the Inner Sect...

A heavy silence filled the chamber as a disciple knelt low before a man seated on an ornate, throne-like chair. Shadows flickered across the walls, cast by the dim glow of jade lanterns.

Niu Ling leaned back, one leg crossed, his eyes cold and sharp.

"Speak, Min Shing. What news have you brought?" His voice carried the weight of unquestioned authority.

Min Shing pressed his forehead to the floor. "Young Master... the traitor, Xue Taiyang—he's recovered."

Niu Ling's eyes narrowed.

"Recovered?"

Min Shing nodded quickly. "Yes. He fought Yi Ran—the second-ranked outer disciple. He didn't just defeat her, Young Master... he crushed her. Brutally."

For a moment, the air seemed to chill.

Niu Ling's lips curled in disdain. "So that bastard dares to defy me... That explains his arrogance."

"But does he really think he can oppose me so easily? He's grossly overestimating his own worth.

But then—another thought flickered through his mind. His brow furrowed.

"Wait... Yi Ran?"

His fingers tapped the armrest of his chair.

"Isn't she the one Ma Chen—the fourth-ranked inner disciple—has been pursuing for nearly a year now? I heard he's harbored feelings for her since childhood."

A cold shiver ran down Min Shing's spine. He said nothing, only nodded.

"Tsk..." Niu Ling's jaw tightened. "Even I don't dare to provoke Ma Chen... and now Xue Taiyang has humiliated the woman he loves?"

He leaned forward, eyes gleaming with cruel amusement.

"He's done for. He'll die a dog's death"

He straightened with a smirk, satisfied.

"Don't concern yourself, Min Shing. That traitorous dog has stirred the wrong hornet's nest. He'll suffer a death more painful than he could ever imagine."

Min Shing hesitated. Then, cautiously, he spoke again.

"But, Young Master... there's more. According to reports, Xue Taiyang used some kind of mysterious artifact during the fight—one that can reflect opponent's attacks."

Niu Ling froze.

"...What?"

"Are you sure that's true?"

"I am, Young Master. My men saw it with their own eyes—Yi Ran's attack was stopped mid-air and then turned back on her. I believe that's how he regained his former strength so quickly."

A flash of greed gleamed in Niu Ling's eyes.

"An artifact... like that?" He clenched the armrest. "If what you say is true, that item could tilt the balance of power in the Inner Sect. It must not fall into someone else's hands."

He stood abruptly.

"Min Shing, take a team. Find him. Challenge him—artifact against artifact. Defeat him... and bring it to me."

His eyes narrowed darkly. "With that power, I'll become undisputed in this sect."

"Yes, Young Master!" Min Shing responded, still kneeling.

Niu Ling's voice turned colder.

"Also... about Yang Lie."

He paced slowly, each step deliberate. "He was supposed to leave the sect a month ago. But he didn't. Now there's talk that he'll leave tomorrow."

He glanced over his shoulder.

"Take those failures who couldn't kill Xue Taiyang last time. Use them however you wish. If they die, so be it."

Then his voice dropped an octave, deadly serious.

"But kill Yang Lie. No matter what. That's an order from His Highness."

Min Shing bowed lower. "Understood, Young Master. I won't fail."

Elsewhere...

In a grander abode than even Niu Ling's, a young man sat cross-legged in deep meditation. The air around him pulsed with raw, oppressive energy.

A butler stepped inside quietly, whispering something into his ear.

The young man's eyes snapped open.

"...What did you say?"

The temperature in the room plummeted as a suffocating Spiritual pressure exploded outward.

The butler was flung like a ragdoll across the hall, slamming into the wall with a sickening thud.

Cough!

Blood splattered from his lips as he crumpled to the floor, gasping for breath.

The young man stood—his expression thunderous.

"Xue Taiyang... touched my Yi Ran?"

His voice was low, but every word rang like a death knell.

"Send my men." His gaze burned with murderous intent. "I want that bastard dragged to me—on his knees—his artifact in hand, begging for forgiveness before Yi Ran... in one hour."

The butler, bloodied and trembling, forced himself upright.

"Y-Yes, Young Master... it shall be done."

And so, like wildfire, the tale of Xue Taiyang's resurgence and the mysterious artifact spread through the sect.

Inner disciples whispered. Core disciples took notice.

Eyes turned toward the Outer Sect—hungry, envious, and vengeful.

A storm was brewing.

And at the center of it... stood one man.

Xue Taiyang.

...

In Xue Taiyang's room...

The atmosphere was quiet—too quiet. The soft flicker of candlelight danced along the walls.

Reon narrowed his eyes, his thoughts racing.

"Artifact...? What is she talking about? I didn't use any artifact—only the Core Void Eye techniques."

"Does she really think... my Constitution Art is just some borrowed trick, like Yi Ran's admirer claimed in the arena?"

A flicker of annoyance crossed his face, but he quickly masked it.

With quiet defiance, he sank onto the edge of his bed, his voice calm and resolute.

"I don't see why I should answer that. You're not even an elder of this sect, and I owe you nothing."

Elenora raised an eyebrow, an amused smile tugging at her lips as she drew closer.

"I figured you'd say something like that." Her smirk widened. "Didn't expect you to refuse so flatly, though."

Reon frowned. "What are you implying?"

Instead of answering, she tilted her head, eyes gleaming with mischief.

"So... how's your little beast doing?"

Reon stiffened slightly. His gaze sharpened.

"Why is she asking about Cloudia...?"

He kept his tone steady. "She's fine. But why the sudden interest, Miss Elenora?"

She took another step closer, the shadows in the room wrapping around her like a cloak of mystery, her elegant long gown trailing along the floor.

He stared into those radiant green eyes—completely unaware he was speaking to a being who could shatter an entire Earth with the flick of a finger.

Her voice dropped lower, silk over steel.

"Oh, just a passing curiosity. After all... does everyone in the sect know that you're harboring a living treasure?" she said, leaning in with a glint in her eyes.

"A beast with Dual-Bloodlines—one of them possibly Noble-Lineage or even higher."

Reon froze.

"W-What...?!"

"She knows...?"

A jolt of alarm surged through him.

"Was she spying on me this whole time?"

He gave a subtle mental signal—Cloudia instantly vanished into the Inner Beast Domain.

"I'm not sure what you mean by that," Reon replied cautiously.

Elenora chuckled softly. "Relax. No need to get so tense." She moved even closer, her breath warm against his ear.

"I'm not here to hurt you... or your beast. I don't want her, nor will I say anything about her to anyone—as long as you cooperate, just a little."

"She doesn't seem to know Cloudia is a Legendary-Lineage Nine-Tailed Fox," Reon realized with a wave of relief. "If I stay calm and careful, she won't dig deeper."

He drew in a slow breath, collecting himself.

Rising from the bed, he casually walked toward the window, golden sunlight spilling in and casting sharp, shifting shadows across his face.

"It seems, Miss Elenora, that you may be overestimating your leverage."

He turned slowly, his tone calm but firm.

"If what you say is true, and my beast's bloodline is as rare as you claim, then it's only a matter of time before others in the sect take notice. That's not something I need to hide."

"I'll simply report it to the elders. As a Beast Tamer of great potential, I'd gain the sect's full protection in a heartbeat." He met her gaze, unflinching.

"Do you really think the sect would ignore a valuable asset like me?"

"..Huh!"

Elenora blinked, her smirk faltering for the first time.

"Why didn't I think of that? she wondered, lips tightening..

Suddenly—

Knock!

Knock!

The sharp sound echoed through the room like a dagger slicing the tension.

Reon and Elenora both turned toward the door, the silence that followed more ominous than the knock itself.
