what if I'm an undead! then so what?-Chapter 51: Aurelia and the Pandora’s box
"Why get so emotional over a little transformation like that?" the worm-like yokai asked, his tone laced with genuine confusion. He hadn’t anticipated Elias to react so strongly, so violently—to what, in his eyes, was merely a casual shift in form.
Elias didn’t even look back at first. His voice was cold, venomous. "Ask me that again, and I’ll kill you."
But when he did finally turn around, what he saw made him pause. His anger caught in his throat.
The grotesque, undulating form of the worm yokai had vanished.
And in its place stood a girl or what appears to be one.
She was real. Breathing, blinking—every detail undeniable. Her hazel eyes shimmered, flecks of gold and green dancing like autumn sunlight through rustling leaves. She tilted her head slightly, caught somewhere between surprise and amusement, as though Elias’s astonishment mirrored her own.
Golden hair, long and windblown, cascaded over her shoulders, each strand catching the ambient light. It framed her face with a soft radiance, glowing with an almost celestial ease. She looked effortlessly beautiful, but not fragile. There was strength beneath the glow.
She wore a sleek, silver combat suit that hugged her feminine athletic build with d-cupped breast, laced with faint streaks of iridescent blue. The outfit shimmered subtly as she moved, reflecting light like silk under moonlight. Her figure was unmistakably feminine—well-proportioned and toned, the kind of body one might expect from someone honed for battle. She exuded calm, not drama. Presence, not dominance. No theatrical entrance, no menacing aura. Just a quiet sort of power that commanded attention.
Elias blinked hard. "...What the fuck?"
The girl smiled—a soft, mischievous grin. "Hey, don’t fall in love with me. I’m still your almost like your uncle deep down!"
Her voice was gentle and playful, strikingly feminine. Elias immediately face-palmed, groaning in disbelief. "This is abuse. Whatever twisted transformation technique you used, you’ve crossed a line. You’re a guy, aren’t you? Then why the hell turn into a girl—an average man would be okay, even retaining my uncle’s form was alright!"
"I don’t think using a female body when you’re actually a man is appropriate," Elias continued, his brow twitching. "I mean, sure, it’s... pleasing to look at. But that’s not the point!"Elias stated with a sour look on his face.
The girl frowned at his objection. "Are you assuming my gender? The concepts of ’man’ and ’woman’ are human constructs. I’m a yokai. I’m genderless. I don’t have a dick, nor do I have a pu—"
"THAT’S ENOUGH, YOU FREAK!" Elias barked, cutting her off before she could finish. His sanity was already slipping, and this abomination was speeding it along.
"Well, since things have escalated," she said, brushing a golden lock from her face, "I’d appreciate it if you stopped calling me ’worm’ or ’freak.’ It’s demeaning. Let’s pick a name, shall we?" She rubbed her chin, deep in thought after about few seconds if idleness. "That’s it! From now on, I’ll go by ’Aurelia.’ It matches my aesthetic perfectly, don’t you think?"
She twirled playfully, flaunting her curves with pride. Elias’s expression turned to stone, black lines of exasperation forming across his face.
"Suit yourself," he grunted. "Now that we’ve... settled down," he made air quotes with a grimace, "you said you fed on my uncle’s memories. So, what am I supposed to do now that you know everything he knew?"
Aurelia raised a hand to the back of her head, sheepishly. "Well... remember when I said he only had about two days of memories left? Yeah, the details of your mission are mixed up in that little window."
Elias’s eyes narrowed. "ARRRGHHH, YOU FREAK—I’LL KILL YOU!"
His aura flared violently, crackling with barely contained fury. But before he could lash out, Aurelia raised both hands in surrender.
"Wait! Don’t move faster than your own shadow. Like I said, I do have some idea of what we’re supposed to do."
Elias took a deep breath, grounding himself. "Then talk. Now."
"Your father told me you’d be coming to me carrying the ’Gift of God.’ It’s sealed inside a container—what he called Pandora’s Box. But this box isn’t just a trinket. Only someone who meets certain divine criteria can open it. That’s your task: to prove yourself worthy of unlocking it and discovering the gift. If possible, when you manage to succeed you’re supposed to use it’s power or what ever it is before it falls into the wrong hand."
"So I’m supposed to guard this box until I’m ’worthy,’ whatever that means?" Elias asked.
"Exactly," Aurelia nodded. "The box recognizes you as the chosen one, It sees you as the chosen one just like what the prophecy stated, you’re the chosen one—or honored one, or whatever title you prefer. It might even lend you some of its power during your journey. But... I don’t know how to make you ’worthy.’ That part’s still fuzzy."
She paused, face turning serious. "What I do know is that there are four conditions. The first, you’ve already fulfilled—possessing the bloodline of Adam, your ancient forefather. The second... is something called Purgatory."
"Purgatory?" Elias repeated, rubbing his temples. "What the hell is that supposed to mean? How do I enter it? How do I clear it?"
"Wait... hearing you rant actually jogged my memory." Aurelia’s eyes lit up. "Your father said that the Pandora’s Box opens under four conditions. So far, we’ve confirmed two: bloodline and purgatory."
Elias scowled. "If you know something, spit it out. Stop repeating what I already know."
"Don’t ruin this for me, jerk. I’m in the zone!" Aurelia barked back, a vein visibly bulging on her forehead. "Anyway, the teachings of the ancient text mention four concepts: Origin, Transcendence, Fate, and Will."
"Bloodline corresponds to Origin," Elias muttered. "The first man, Adam. Makes sense."
"Right. And purgatory probably links to Transcendence," she added. "But that’s where it gets complicated..."
Elias nodded grimly. He remembered the ancient teachings—the fragmented doctrines passed down through generations. "No one really understood the teachings of the Four Ancient Texts," he said quietly. "Especially Transcendence."
Aurelia nodded in agreement. "Transcendence was said to be divided into seven categories—each testing the soul in a unique way." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
She took a breath and began to explain.

[The Seven Epochs of the Soul
Also known as the Sevenfold Purgatory
1. The Valley of Mirrors
A domain of reflection, both literal and metaphysical. In this realm, one confronts idealized and flawed versions of themselves. Every reflection speaks, mocks, accuses, praises, and lies.
Theme: Self-Hatred vs. Self-Acceptance
To pass through this valley, one must stop chasing perfection and accept their true, imperfect self. Only then can they walk forward without shame.
2. The Infinite Feast
An illusion of pleasure. An endless banquet stretches under starless skies, offering every temptation the soul could crave—luxury, comfort, indulgence.
Theme: Temptation and Control
The trial is not to resist the food, but the idea. Comfort breeds forgetfulness. Indulgence numbs purpose. To escape, one must willingly leave behind comfort for a higher calling.
3. The Garden of Ashes
Here, every flower is a memory, every tree a loved one lost. Ghosts walk the garden—some weeping, others angry.
Theme: Grief and Letting Go
To continue, one must mourn truly, release sorrow, and carry memories with strength—not sorrow. To grieve without being consumed.
4. The Pillar of Guilt
A monolith of judgment. It reflects all your past failures—every misstep, every regret. The voices are your own, amplified and merciless.
Theme: Responsibility vs. Self-Blame
The test is not to deny guilt, but to differentiate. Accept guilt that teaches, discard blame that destroys.
5. The Maze of Voices
A labyrinth of your mind echoing countless identities—some yours, some fabricated. Each whisper casts doubt on your worth.
Theme: Doubt and Identity
To escape, you must find your true voice amid the chaos, affirm who you are, and silence the lies within.
6. The Hollow Self
Here lies your darkest potential—a version of yourself without conscience, fear, or doubt. It offers strength, certainty, dominance.
Theme: Power and Purpose
The choice isn’t to defeat the dark version—it’s choosing not to become them. Power without purpose is corruption.
7. The Flame of Choice
The final trial. Two paths: Peace or Truth. Forget the burden or carry it.
Theme: The Ultimate Decision
Not every soul can bear truth. Not every hero chooses pain. To accept the truth and still walk forward is the mark of the truly chosen.]

Elias stood silently, absorbing every word. The gravity of what lay ahead pressed against his chest like a weight.
"So that’s purgatory..." he whispered. "Each trial, a reflection of the soul... and a forge."
Aurelia nodded. "Exactly. Pass through the Seven Epochs, and you’ll transcend what you are now. Only then will the box recognize you."
Elias clenched his fists. "So be it. I’ll face them all. I didn’t come this far to falter now, however how do we begin, from the ancient text purgatory is beyond our mortal world and that’s the concept behind transcendence."
