When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 1041: Still Can’t Bear It
The lights were warm yellow, and in the steamy bathroom, Adrian Lancaster’s mood wasn’t as cheerful as during the day.
He tilted his head back and closed his eyes under the shower, his jawline perfectly enticing, his handsome profile captivating, and that stabbing feeling in his heart became more and more apparent.
He was afraid, truly afraid she wouldn’t fall in love with him like she did last time...
He especially wanted to have her quickly, a man’s possessiveness, yet feared he couldn’t control himself.
Another ten minutes or so passed.
Adrian Lancaster sorted out his emotions, turned off the faucet, dried his body with a towel, put on his pajamas, and gently opened the bathroom door.
The bedroom lights were still on, and she was already lying on her side under the covers.
He walked lightly forward to turn off the main light, wanting to give her a good sleeping environment.
As he walked towards the window, he stepped softly on the carpet, making almost no sound.
His tall and slender silhouette sat down in the armchair, pulling a blanket over his legs.
Leaning forward, he picked up a philosophy book from the table and turned on the desk lamp.
There was a bookmark inside, and he had already reached page 87; this was his tenth reading of the book.
Every time he read it, his state of mind was different, gaining a strength that made his heart stronger, more at ease through various experiences.
She heard the sound of the light being turned off, also hearing that almost inaudible sound of footsteps gradually moving away.
The night was too silent; with her eyes shut, Faye Turner seemed to hear the gentle sound of pages turning.
After a while, she slowly opened her eyes, seeing in the faint glow from the desk lamp, the profile in the chair by the window.
Adrian Lancaster’s profile was exceptionally beautiful, somewhat gentle and refined, gently turning pages with a captivating manly charm.
In him, there was also a depositional depth.
Faye Turner laid quietly on the bed like this, just gazing at him turning pages, managing such a large company at such a young age... She could even imagine him in a suit, orchestrating everything in his office.
His capabilities and status were his halo, an admiration and reverence for President Lancaster arose naturally in Faye Turner’s heart.
Just watching him like this, it was unclear how much time passed before Adrian Lancaster put down the book in his hand, reached over to turn off the desk lamp, and the room abruptly darkened.
By the faint light from outside the window, she saw him lean slightly back into the single armchair, draping the blanket over himself.
It seemed he planned to spend the night there...
Faye Turner looked at him like this, suddenly feeling a bit uneasy, her thoughts somewhat disordered.
This was his home, yet he could only sleep in an armchair?
Moreover, he was so tall, he couldn’t possibly lie down... That wasn’t a sofa; it was a chair.
The blanket on him was also thin.
He had to go to the company tomorrow, so after struggling internally, Faye Turner gently lifted the covers and got out of bed.
She didn’t know, this spontaneous action was her subconscious concern for him.
Slipping on her slippers, under the night light filtering through from outside, without turning on any lights, Faye Turner walked towards him...
Adrian Lancaster was a light sleeper; hearing footsteps, he opened his eyes.
When he saw Faye Turner standing in front of him, he immediately sat up straight, instantly waking from any drowsiness.
"What’s wrong? Can’t you sleep?" He looked up at her, instinctively worried, "Or are you uncomfortable somewhere?"
"You should sleep on the bed." Faye Turner spoke softly, a hint of heartache in her eyes.
Adrian Lancaster was stunned for a moment, then shook his head, "I can’t let you sleep on the chair." Knowing she carried a heavy mental burden tonight.
"I’ll sleep on the bed too." Faye Turner smiled slightly, "The bed is quite big, you have work tomorrow, and sleeping here for a night... you’ll have a sore back."
Is she showing concern for him?
Adrian Lancaster was a bit taken aback, but more so, he was delighted and moved; he pulled back the blanket and stood up, "You... really willing?"
He was a whole head taller than her, standing in front of her, still somewhat imposing.
She didn’t answer whether she was willing or not, just avoided his eyes and turned towards the big bed.
Adrian Lancaster watched his wife’s back, a smile spreading across his face as he followed her.
How nice! President Lancaster has a bed to sleep in tonight!
