When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 978: Sorting Things Out
Nathan Xavier didn’t ask further because he had more important things to do, and he knew his sister was kind. "Okay, just be careful in the future."
Gia nodded.
Nathan Xavier stood up and instructed the servants, "Take good care of Miss Gia, I’m leaving now."
"Yes, young master." Before leaving, he bent down to pick up the bag from the trash can, calmly saying, "I’ll take the trash out so the room doesn’t smell of blood. Replace it with a clean bag."
"Okay." The servant quickly turned around to get a garbage bag.
"Gia, rest well." He instructed again, this time looking at her not just admiring her beauty, but deliberately searching for resemblances to his sister Shane in her demeanor.
Maybe she resembled her more before. Now with the disguise, only the forehead and bridge of the nose bore a similarity to his sister.
"Thank you, Nathan." She expressed gratitude again, sitting on the sofa, looking up at him.
After Nathan Xavier left, he didn’t throw away the trash bag but took it back to his place.
Even as the minutes ticked by, he wasn’t in a hurry to go to the company.
Instead, he dialed a number and instructed calmly, "Come over and collect a sample. I need a paternity test done."
The other party was stunned upon hearing it, "President Xavier, have you... been approached by an illegitimate child?"
"Nothing of the sort." He was speechless, "Just come quickly."
"Okay, okay, I’m on my way right now!" Relieved, there’s no romantic entanglement outside.
Taking advantage of the time, Nathan Xavier found Mrs. Rhodes, an observer of the incident.
Mrs. Rhodes saw him coming and felt a bit apprehensive, respectfully greeting, "Hello, young master."
"Tell me, what exactly happened today? Explain everything clearly."
Mrs. Rhodes remembered what Miss Gia had told her, worried that the madam would blame Gia, so she smiled, "Are you asking about Miss Gia’s fall?"
"Does it have anything to do with Rhiannon Xavier?" He asked directly, his expression not looking good.
"No, it doesn’t." Mrs. Rhodes answered quickly, "Miss Gia fell on her own; it had nothing to do with your sister."
Nathan Xavier continued watching her eyes, so he didn’t believe what she had just said.
How could someone running a big corporation not have some ability to read people?
The man’s lips opened slightly, lightly reminding, "Did you forget there’s surveillance there?"
Mrs. Rhodes’ heart skipped heavily, her expression changed slightly, "..." She admitted through silence that she had been lying.
"I’ll ask again, what exactly was the situation then?"
Mrs. Rhodes knew she couldn’t lie anymore, or she would lose her job, so she truthfully recounted what she had seen and heard.
Nathan Xavier asked again, "So why did you lie just now? Was Rhiannon Xavier threatening you?"
"No, no, not at all!" Mrs. Rhodes didn’t want to wrong her either, so she quickly relayed Rhiannon Xavier’s words to him—
"After you left, I helped her up, and I noticed she was in a very off state, as if she had lost her spirit. Then, she told me she’s been having trouble sleeping lately and took some medication, which caused her emotional instability... and she acted out intensely towards Miss Gia."
As she said this, Nathan Xavier watched her intently and asked, "Like she’d lost her spirit? Describe her expression at the time. I remember she was sitting on the floor; why was she sitting on the floor?"
Mrs. Rhodes thought back, not daring to lie, organizing her words, "It seemed like... she was frightened, as if she felt guilty—with shock and fear."
So, did Rhiannon Xavier also see the birthmark on her sister’s leg? Did she know Gia was Shane?
Moreover, was the disappearance of his sister in childhood related to Rhiannon Xavier?
