Who Cares About Him When I'm Married to the Richest Man?-Chapter 171: Cecilia Quincy Must Not Be Allowed to Live
After Elara Hale told Mason Jacobs about this, she felt calm instead and didn’t care what Mason Jacobs said over there. She directly hung up the phone and casually blocked Mason Jacobs’s number again.
Having done this, she took a deep breath and said to the taxi driver, "Mister, sorry, I’m not going to Lumire Apartments. Please continue taking me to the pharmaceutical company."
The taxi driver had just listened to the gossip and didn’t say much, simply agreed and turned the car around again.
Meanwhile, Mason Jacobs looked a bit upset after being hung up on and immediately called Elara Hale again, only to hear a busy tone on the receiver.
He was directly amused by this; having her remove him from the blacklist when she had something to tell him, then blacklist him again after speaking?
He had been with her for three years and didn’t realize that she could be such a shameless woman!
Yet, she was also the first woman to dare to treat him this way.
To be honest, Mason Jacobs found himself more intrigued by Elara Hale.
He liked Elara Hale when she was submissive, but not as much. However, after the divorce, with her cutting off all ties and being completely different from before, she fascinated him even more.
Unable to reach her, Mason Jacobs wasn’t anxious. After all, there would be plenty of opportunities in the future; he would eventually take that woman back.
At this moment, he was concerned about what Elara Hale had said over the phone.
Cecilia Quincy wants to kill Jasmine?
His brow furrowed. Elara Hale wouldn’t throw out a statement like that without reason. She’s not the kind to scheme just to get close to him anymore.
So, did she really get this information? Where did she get it from? Was it possible Cecilia Quincy made the call to her?
Thinking of this, Mason Jacobs’s eyes turned cold. He had just received a call from Cecilia Quincy, offering to talk one last time, after which she’d hand Jasmine over to him. He was on his way to Cecilia Quincy’s address.
If what Elara Hale said was true, then Cecilia Quincy’s motives were apparent.
Mason Jacobs’s face turned sinister as he pressed hard on the accelerator, the car sounding like an arrow leaving the bowstring with a roaring noise.
Recently, he hadn’t been too harsh with Cecilia Quincy to facilitate taking Jasmine away, and everything had been going smoothly. However, a few days ago, he discovered injuries on Jasmine. Upon probing, he found out Cecilia Quincy had abused her.
Cecilia Quincy had always been acting in front of him, claiming how well she treated Jasmine, while secretly abusing her daily. Under Jasmine’s clothes were shocking scars.
Recalling the instances when Jasmine was injured at the Jacobs Family residence before, his patience with Cecilia Quincy reached its limit.
Unexpectedly, after falling out, Cecilia Quincy became even more aggressive, straightforwardly demanding three million, or she wouldn’t hand Jasmine over to him.
The adoption papers were under Cecilia Quincy’s name, leaving Mason Jacobs with no choice but to accept the loss.
Yesterday, he had already paid Cecilia Quincy one million as a deposit. Today, he planned to take Jasmine and deal with Cecilia Quincy without leaving a trace, but he didn’t expect Cecilia Quincy would call Elara Hale and even threaten to kill Jasmine.
Obviously, Cecilia Quincy had guessed his plan.
Mason Jacobs, feeling the violence in his heart, understood the whole cause and effect, his face growing darker.
He was blind back then to think Cecilia Quincy was pure and kind, a hundred times better than Elara Hale.
A vicious wolf disguised as a lamb!
Amidst Mason Jacobs’s turbulent thoughts, he had arrived at Lumire Apartments.
This was an apartment complex, with two police cars parked under one of the apartment buildings, as the police seemed to be handling a case.
Mason Jacobs knew these should be the police Elara Hale had called.
He parked the car under the diagonal apartment building, about six or seven hundred meters in a straight line from the building the police were investigating.
Even if they decided to investigate over here, it would be hours later.
He got out of the car, walked into the apartment entrance quickly, having been here several times for Jasmine during this time, he navigated easily to Cecilia Quincy’s apartment.
Mason Jacobs, impatient inside, knocked on the door with a rough motion, "Open the door!"
Inside the room, Cecilia Quincy was wearing a black slip dress, her hair a mess draped over her shoulders, her eyes somewhat red and swollen, her face showing an expression of numbness and madness.
Hearing the commotion at the door, a slow smile crept on her lips, a bit eerie. She slowly stood up to open the door for Mason Jacobs.
The door opened, she smiled at Mason Jacobs, speaking in a calm but creepy voice, "You’re here."
Mason Jacobs glanced at her, pushed her aside casually, and walked in with large strides, looking around and frowning, "Where’s Jasmine?"
Cecilia Quincy leaned against the door with a light laugh, looking at him, "Where’s the money?"
Mason Jacobs’s gaze darkened, walking over to her in a few strides, gripping her neck fiercely, "Where’s Jasmine?"
Surprise flashed in Cecilia Quincy’s eyes, soon realizing, she laughed aloud, "Did Elara Hale call you? She told you everything? Hahaha...I really didn’t expect she wouldn’t even bother to come! I thought she had some loyalty, turns out she’s just like this!"
After speaking, she yelled towards the window furiously, "Little brat, did you hear that? She doesn’t care about you at all! You were expecting her to come and save you, hahaha! You’re so stupid! I already told you, you betrayed her, how could she care about your life or death?!"
As if venting, her face was full of disdain, sarcasm, a sneer, distorting her beautiful face like a demon.
Mason Jacobs tossed her aside, walking over to the window with large strides, and just as he reached the window, he saw a small figure hanging outside the window.
Jasmine’s hands were tied, hanging outside the building. Cecilia Quincy lived on the top 38th floor of this apartment building.
Jasmine was trembling with fear, her whole body covered in blood as if she had been beaten. Her wrists were tied with a rope, rubbed raw till they were bleeding splendidly.
She was so scared...so scared...
Cecilia Quincy was crazy, and there was no one to save her. Even Elara Hale was unwilling to come to her rescue...
She closed her eyes, daring not to look down, feeling weak just with a glimpse.
It seemed like she heard Uncle Jacobs’s voice, was it an illusion?
Cecilia Quincy said that even if Uncle Jacobs gave her money, she wouldn’t let her go. Cecilia Quincy only wanted her dead; could she still survive?
Jasmine felt panic, fear, and deep regret.
If she had chosen Elara instead of Cecilia back then, she would be living well now, studying diligently at that elementary school. Even if she couldn’t become a wealthy lady, she wouldn’t have to worry about food and clothing, with a future full of hope.
Instead of like now, never having had a good day, being tossed around by the Jacobs Family and Cecilia like a piece of trash, unwanted by anyone. To survive, she had to work as a maid for Cecilia, enduring daily beatings and scoldings, and has now become Cecilia’s object of venting anger.
She is about to die.
Mason Jacobs stood at the windowsill, staring at the blood-covered Jasmine, his expression terrifyingly grim.
He reached out to untie the rope, intending to pull Jasmine up. Jasmine, feeling pain in her wrist, looked up at him, overjoyed, "Uncle Jacobs, are you here to save me?"
Mason Jacobs responded coldly, not having any feelings for this child. Seeing her in such a miserable state didn’t stir much emotion, but the only thing he cared about was that he still needed Jasmine to get close to Elara, so Jasmine couldn’t be harmed.
Meanwhile, Cecilia had taken a million from him yesterday, clearly promised to settle the remaining two million today so he could take Jasmine away, yet she wanted Jasmine dead.
As for his planned matter of dealing with Cecilia today, he wouldn’t take it into consideration now.
He kept a grim face as he untied the rope, and Jasmine eagerly awaited, when suddenly a cold voice came from the living room, "I’ve tampered with that rope. The switch is with me. If you try to untie the rope without me pressing the switch, she’ll fall straight down."
Mason Jacobs abruptly halted his actions, turning to look at her, eyes suppressing restrained anger, warning, "Cecilia, don’t play this game with me, get her up quickly!"
Cecilia sat back on the sofa, putting her legs up as well, hugging herself, looking up at Mason Jacobs, "If I get her up, won’t I be dead?"
Mason Jacobs’ expression paused.
Cecilia then laughed, mockingly and self-deprecatingly, "I knew, given your way of doing things, how could you allow me to walk away with three million unscathed? Mason Jacobs, I know you too well. When I took that one million yesterday, I knew, you wouldn’t leave me alive."
Mason Jacobs spoke in a calm voice, "How could that be? I’m not some mobster, this is a law-governed society now, doing something like that is punishable by imprisonment, with so many eyes on me, how could I dig my own grave? Your worries are a bit excessive."
Cecilia chuckled coldly, not speaking further.
When Mason came back looking for her, she was so happy initially, thinking they had got another chance, but unexpectedly, he came for Elara. He wasn’t missing her, not even Jasmine; he just needed a pretext to get close to Elara, and she and Jasmine were merely being used in this process.
Who could understand the emptiness when expectation falls short, and her hatred?!
She hated Elara, with a gnawing resentment! That woman, who took everything she had and yet was disdainful!
Since none would let her have peace, then everyone shall perish together!
She called Elara today, originally intending for her to come and personally witness Jasmine falling off the building, but Elara never showed up. How laughable, whether it was Jasmine or Mason, Elara didn’t care, yet she herself clung on relentlessly!
Elara must be very pleased, right?
Cecilia bit her lip, letting out a cold laugh.
Never mind, if she couldn’t disgust Elara, she would disgust Mason Jacobs instead.
Wasn’t he after Jasmine? Wasn’t Jasmine his hope to approach Elara? Ha.
Then let him watch this hope being destroyed by her, right in front of his eyes!
Mason Jacobs saw the unyielding craze in Cecilia’s eyes, his brows furrowing tightly, unwilling to see things fall apart when they were within reach. He softened his voice, "Cecilia, Jasmine is too young, get her up first, and we’ll talk about our matter later, alright?"
Cecilia hadn’t felt tenderness from this man for a long time. A bit startled, then she looked at Mason Jacobs mockingly, smiling, yet looking uglier than crying, "Brother Mason, did you ever love me?"
Mason Jacobs remained silent.
Cecilia chuckled, shaking her head, "You never loved me. We were so good, weren’t we? You said you liked my kindness and innocence, you said you could give up everything for me, you said you would love and cherish me for a lifetime, you would give me the greatest happiness in the world... you said Elara was like a piece of wood, devoid of feeling, you said you were fed up with such women, you said she nauseated you... these were all things you said to me, weren’t they? How could it all change in less than a year?"
"I’ve become the mosquito blood rice grain on your heart, while she’s become the cinnabar mole white moonlight... Brother Mason, tell me, why is this? What did I do wrong?"
As she spoke, Cecilia was already in tears.
Though she had vanity and a mind to use Mason Jacobs, her feelings were genuine. Otherwise, she would have already schemed to climb up to the Warner Family, which was a hundred times stronger than the Jacobs Family, wasn’t it?
Mason Jacobs didn’t want to listen to the rants of a deranged woman. Now, looking at Cecilia, he felt like he was looking at a tattered rag, with absolutely no desire to speak to her.
But to save Jasmine, he endured and spoke patiently, "Cecilia, those things are in the past, let’s not mention them again. The road ahead is still long, right? Get the child up first."
"It’s your road that is long, your and Elara’s road, isn’t it?" Cecilia’s lips curled into a sarcastic smile, "You don’t need to say it, I can guess, you take Jasmine away today, I won’t see tomorrow’s sunrise. Anyway, you’ve done this so often, haven’t you?"
Mason Jacobs’ pupils contracted sharply, and there was a cold glint in his eyes as he asked, word by word, "What do you know?"
Cecilia laughed as she looked at him, like a madwoman, "You did it so secretly, what could I know? Would you believe me if I said I was joking?"
Mason Jacobs took a deep breath, desperately suppressing the violence within.
If Cecilia didn’t know something, she wouldn’t have said such things.
Yet his doings had always been hidden, deliberately kept from her, how could she know anything?
But in any case, Cecilia, to him, was a ticking time bomb.
He’d handled too many dirty matters, and couldn’t allow Cecilia to hold any evidence. Now, Cecilia was like a sword hanging over his head; if it came down, the entire Jacobs Family would be doomed!
The best way to eliminate danger is to strangle it in its cradle!
A ruthless glint flashed in Mason Jacobs’ eyes.
Just as he was about to act, Cecilia spoke, "Do you want to save Jasmine?"
Mason Jacobs’ gaze deepened, "You get her up first, I’ll give you four million, you can take the four million, and live well anywhere."
Cecilia seemed convinced and stood up from the sofa, "Really? You’ll really give me four million?"
Mason Jacobs nodded, "Really."
As for whether she would live to spend that four million, that was uncertain.
Cecilia appeared to believe him, turning towards the door, "Then wait for me; I’ll get the switch. I need to turn off the system before pulling Jasmine up."
Mason Jacobs exhaled in relief.
Thankfully, Cecilia was a fool, and today’s outcome was still within his initial plan.
