Wicked Husband-Chapter 101 - 100
Cesare stared intently at Eileen. Although she had asked to be held, she was already in his embrace. It seemed he was questioning whether there was a deeper meaning behind her request.
To confirm his thoughts, Eileen reached for his uniform with trembling hands and carefully began to unfasten a button. His crimson eyes followed her every movement. When she reached the third button, his hand swiftly intercepted hers.
"There’s no need to do this," he said in a firm yet gentle tone.
"I would have told you anyway."
Cesare stepped back from Eileen and began to rebutton his uniform, his voice soft as he continued.
"Lucio Zaetani has harbored feelings for you since your university days. His affection was not pure; he also engaged in inappropriate behavior."
Eileen had always known that Cesare had been watching over her during her university years, providing her with his protection.
But she hadn’t expected him to know such specific details about someone’s feelings and actions. Eileen herself had been unaware of these details until now.
"He would, for instance, stain objects meant as gifts with his s*men."
Eileen’s lips parted involuntarily at Cesare’s chilling words. Despite clearly hearing them, she struggled to process the gravity of what he had said. Cesare observed her bewildered expression and continued.
"Recently, he attempted to commit vile acts in your lab. Under the Duke of Farbellini’s orders, he tried to steal research materials."
"Senior Lucio?" Eileen muttered, her face paling.
"I didn’t know..."
"You wouldn’t have."
Cesare cupped Eileen’s cheeks, gently holding her face steady so she had no choice but to meet his gaze. He searched her trembling eyes with his own, trying to convey something unspoken.
"That’s what I hoped for."
The realization hit Eileen with a jolt. Cesare had kept the truth from her, not out of deceit, but to protect her from the sordid details. He had chosen to handle the unpleasantness himself, shielding her from the impurities that lay outside their carefully maintained world.
"Eileen," he said softly, drawing her back from her thoughts. His gaze remained steady, reflecting her image with a hint of sorrow.
"I won’t tell you everything."
His crimson eyes locked onto hers, and Eileen saw her own reflection, blurred and almost distorted by the emotions and the truths she had yet to fully grasp.
"I promise," Cesare continued, "I will treat you differently from now on."
Though he would still withhold certain truths, he was willing to be more open about what lay beyond the boundaries he had set. It was a step toward greater honesty.
Eileen’s voice trembled as she responded, her emotions still raw.
"...I didn’t know. I almost misunderstood you again."
Eileen had briefly entertained the troubling thought that Cesare might have executed Lucio. It was a fleeting, unsettling notion, but it had crossed her mind.
"Ordinary people don’t get killed."
"Then Senior Lucio..."
"Eileen."
Cesare’s smile twisted slightly, betraying a hint of mischief.
"If you keep bringing him up, it might make your husband think less of you."
He tightened his grip on Eileen’s face, causing her lips to pout. Though his demeanor was playful, his tone remained cold as he added,
"Like thinking my wife might have had feelings for him."
Eileen’s eyes widened in shock. Cesare had misunderstood her entirely. She tried to defend herself, her lips forming small, uncertain words, but Cesare spoke first.
"I know. It’s impossible."
There was a certain confidence in his voice, a certainty that Eileen would never look at anyone else. Cesare was well aware of her loyalty and feelings.
"Still, it’s not a pleasant feeling."
He released his grip on her face, and the tension eased.
"Did you receive the gift? It was obtained from the Duke of Farbellini."
As Cesare shifted the topic, Eileen instinctively reached out and grabbed his hand. The contact sent a shiver through her body, making her acutely aware of the warmth of his skin against hers.
"I... I..."
Just holding his hand made her feel a mix of emotions, the physical touch intensifying her response.
"Let’s talk about this later..."
"Later?"
Cesare’s gaze was sharp, as if daring her to say more. Eileen felt her face flush, and she spoke hesitantly.
"Now, if it’s not too much trouble... are you still, perhaps, avoiding such things...?"
Cesare tilted his head slightly, wordlessly. The thought of escaping through the ominous forest beyond the back door crossed her mind. It seemed a preferable option to standing here, unable to lift her gaze in embarrassment.
After observing Eileen’s discomfort, Cesare swiftly unfastened the top button of his uniform and proceeded to unbutton the rest. His shirt underneath became visible. He asked calmly,
"Do you want to?"
Eileen struggled to find an answer. She had previously summoned the courage to ask for a hug, hoping to confirm Cesare’s affection. Now, she faced a cold and unresponsive demeanor.
"Has it been a duty until now?"
Rumor had it that newlyweds engaged in such activities daily, but the frequency between Cesare and her was notably low. Even when they had been intimate, Cesare had firmly rejected her pleas for more pleasure.
The more she pondered it, the more it seemed that their past intimacy had been a matter of obligation rather than genuine connection.
"Have I acted thoughtlessly again?"
Now, Cesare seemed to be trying to embrace her out of duty. Realizing the situation, Eileen shook her head slowly and replied.
"No... I’m sorry for taking up your time."
Unable to endure the embarrassment and eager to escape, she thought it might be better to quickly return to the Grand Duchy. Eileen took a step back, hoping to hide.
"Thank you for telling me. I’ll... go home first..."
But as Eileen retreated, Cesare moved closer, calmly closing the distance like a predator cornering its prey. Soon, Eileen found herself pressed against the wall with Cesare standing in front of her. Confused, she looked up and mumbled her unfinished words.
"I’ll be going..."
"Eileen."
"Yes, yes?"
Her voice wavered. Trembling like a cornered mouse, she watched as Cesare leaned against the wall, casting a dark shadow over her. He spoke as though he were trapping her.
"Where are you going when I’ve started undressing you?"
To be precise, he had undressed her earlier, and now he was simply continuing the process. But there was no time to argue about details.
"Um, I mean, home."
"Why?"
"There’s a lot of work to do... Ah!"
As Eileen’s voice trailed off, swallowed by her growing sense of panic, Cesare made a decisive move. There was a ripping sound as he tore her dress.
Eileen’s eyes widened in shock, her gaze fixed on Cesare. His expression was a mix of amusement and intensity, as though something inside him had shifted.
As she puzzled over what she might have done wrong, Cesare swiftly removed the upper part of her dress. Exposed to the daylight in nothing but her underwear, Eileen hurriedly wrapped her arms around herself.
As she stared up at Cesare, he gently took her left hand and guided it to his lips.
"Do you want to go home after hearing about the senior?"
"No, it’s not that..."
Before she could finish her response, Cesare bit the fourth finger of her left hand. He bit down hard enough to leave a noticeable bite mark just above her wedding ring.
"Don’t go, Eileen."
Cesare licked the bitten finger and then kissed the palm of her hand. His long, dark eyelashes framed his eyes, which had taken on a seductive gleam. As he gazed down at her, his voice softened into a sensual whisper.
"Stay with your husband."
