Wicked Husband-Chapter 126 - 125
Catching himself before he got too carried away, Senon cleared his throat and concluded, "Anyway, that’s how it is."
Eileen felt a wave of calm wash over her after Senon’s passionate outburst on her behalf. She simply nodded, and when Senon noticed her mood had lifted, he beamed at her.
"Actually, my lady, the reason I came to see you today is that I thought you might want to visit a pharmacy to see how *Aspiria* is doing."
Eileen’s eyes widened in surprise. She had heard that the medicine was selling well, but she hadn’t fully grasped the extent of its success. The suggestion to visit a pharmacy made it feel real.
"Do you think I should go?" she asked hesitantly.
"Absolutely. His Grace even suggested you see it for yourself. We’ll need to keep it discreet, though—the crowds in front of the pharmacies have been large, so it would be best if you went in disguise."
Senon proposed using a hooded robe to conceal her identity, but Eileen quietly reached into a drawer and pulled out her old pair of glasses. She let her bangs fall over her forehead to complete the look.
"How do I look?" she asked.
Senon gave her a thumbs-up. "Perfect."
The two of them took a carriage to Benieu Street to avoid drawing attention. When they arrived, Eileen was taken aback by the sight before her. A long line of people stretched down the street.
"We need to get in line here! This is the end!" shouted pharmacy workers holding signs, trying to organize the waiting crowd.
"All these people..." Eileen murmured.
"Yes, they’re all here to buy the medicine," Senon replied.
It was hard for Eileen to believe that so many people were waiting to buy Aspiria. Her eyes widened as she tried to take it all in. Just then, several military vehicles pulled up in front of the line. Soldiers quickly exited and took their places at the back, moving with practiced efficiency.
But that wasn’t all. Another vehicle arrived, and this time, tall men and women emerged—the Grand Duke’s knights.
"Wow, what the hell..." Michele muttered under her breath as she surveyed the long line. Leaving Diego and Rotan behind, she sprinted to the back of the queue, glaring at the soldiers ahead of her.
"Hey! Only buy one bottle each, got it? Anyone caught buying two is in trouble! I see you all know how good the lady’s medicine is, huh?"
As she barked at the soldiers, Michele glanced back to check on Diego and Rotan, but instead, she locked eyes with someone else—Eileen.
Michele’s eyes widened, and she swallowed hard.
"My lady...?"
Michele and Eileen stared at each other for a moment, shock written across Eileen’s face. She knew well that Michele was a soldier with a fierce temperament.
Typically, Michele maintained a polite demeanor around Eileen, speaking softly and using formal language. But now, for the first time, Eileen saw Michele behaving like a street thug.
Eileen stood with her mouth agape, unsure how to respond. Michele, who had worked hard to uphold her composed facade in front of Eileen, suddenly felt exposed. She shot a glare at Senon, standing beside Eileen, silently cursing him with her eyes.
Senon struggled to cover his mouth with his hand, trying to stifle his laughter. Rotan and Diego, having finally grasped the situation, bit their lips to hold back their own amusement.
While everyone was wrestling with their laughter, Michele, like a malfunctioning toy soldier, awkwardly approached Eileen.
"Uh, Madam, I mean... fancy meeting you here. What a... coincidence."
Michele was sweating nervously. Eileen, still in shock, finally found her voice.
"Sir Michele..."
"T-That... just now! I was a little startled! It was a mistake, I promise! You know how it is when someone gets surprised—some rough words just slip out, right?"
Then Michele suddenly elbowed Senon in the side.
"Brother Senon! If you were bringing Madam, you could have told me!"
Senon, bewildered by being called "brother," groaned in pain and crouched down, clutching his side as if it had been pierced.
Ignoring Senon’s theatrics, Michele quickly redirected her attention to Eileen, putting on a pleading expression reminiscent of a forlorn kitten. She bent down to meet Eileen’s gaze.
"I don’t normally act like that. Today, I was just worried and upset about not being able to get your medicine."
Like a kitten gently nudging with its paw, Michele lightly tugged at Eileen’s sleeve, gauging her reaction. Meanwhile, Rotan and Diego, having finally managed to suppress their laughter, approached to greet her.
"Madam, you’ve arrived!"
"We are truly honored to witness the creation of your new medicine," Rotan said, giving a respectful bow while Diego pretended to stand in line.
"I was planning to wait quietly and buy just one bottle as a keepsake. Just one."
At Diego’s comment, Michele’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at him.
"Are you trying to make me look like the only fool here?"
Unable to hold back her frustration, Michele snapped, then quickly realized her mistake and covered her mouth.
"Ah, this is embarrassing. Please, forget I said that, Madam..."
She once again donned her pitiful kitten eyes, but Eileen had already seen through it. With her eyes wide, Eileen let out a small giggle.
Initially shocked, she now found Michele’s earnest efforts to impress her endearing. Eileen wasn’t afraid of Michele; she knew the soldier wasn’t truly a threatening figure.
Seeing Eileen smile, Michele noticeably relaxed, as if she had narrowly escaped a perilous situation. With newfound confidence, she boasted, clearly pleased that Eileen favored her after all.
"We should move to a different spot."
Rotan stepped forward, positioning himself to block Eileen from view. It was then that Eileen noticed the crowd’s attention had shifted toward them.
The soldiers had already recognized Eileen’s identity but hadn’t approached, respecting the knights’ presence. Meanwhile, the people in line were curiously peeking at the commotion.
Eileen fiddled with the glasses she hadn’t worn in a while. The knights, tall and striking, drew attention wherever they went. Even if Eileen could blend into a crowd on her own, escaping notice would be impossible with them by her side.
