Witch Monastery-Chapter 325: Spawn Point Occupied
Inside the monastery.
After finishing a new goddess scripture tome, Willo set the book down and stretched her neck, still feeling a bit off. She got up and headed out into the monastery, hoping a walk might help her loosen up.
But she'd barely stepped outside when, in the distance, she spotted that familiar male silhouette heading her way. There was only one man who belonged here, so she instantly recognized who it was.
Her face went bright red. Head down, she turned away, hurrying her pace toward the scriptorium.
Yes, she was deliberately avoiding him.
Ever since that crazy night, whenever Willo remembered what had happened, shame overwhelmed her. She couldn't believe someone as reserved and conservative as herself could have done something so wild.
And, to make things worse, she'd noticed that every night since, whenever she slipped naked into bed, Charles's figure would pop into her mind, and her body would grow restless, hungry.
After tasting such pleasure, her very flesh longed for more.
This change left Willo feeling lost, uncertain just what kind of person she might become. So, to try and keep herself from spiraling, she'd been dodging Charles for days, hoping some distance would let her recover her peace.
Until now, it had actually worked—Charles was a busy man, he wasn't always around.
But today was different. Today, he'd actually made a point to find her.
Seeing her dodge him, Charles frowned slightly, realizing she was acting off. He sped up, closing the distance in a few quick strides, then suddenly reached out and grabbed her hand. "Matriarch, wait—there's something I need to talk to you about."
Willo froze. Being grabbed so abruptly, she was instantly flustered, not daring to meet his eyes, guilt written all over her. "Uh? W-What is it?"
"I wasn't really planning to talk about this, but…" Charles's voice took on a stern edge, "Matriarch, why have you been avoiding me?"
Willo got even more flustered. "Oh—it's not… Would you please let go?"
She tugged her hand free, stepping back to put some distance between them, hurriedly shaking her head. "I'm not avoiding you, Priest, I just think… We can't keep making the same mistake…"
Charles's brow arched. "So, Matriarch, you think that whenever I come find you, it must be for… that?"
His tone softened, and Willo only got redder and more out of sorts. "No… It's not—I didn't mean—that's not what I…"
She stammered, unable to come up with a convincing excuse. Truth was, every time she saw Charles, her head filled with mortifying images from that night.
Charles sighed. "I can't even imagine what you must think of me now."
There was a real note of hurt in his voice, making Willo feel even worse—ultimately, she'd been the one to walk into his room that night.
Desperate, she latched on to the chance to change the subject. "Let's stick with business, Priest. What did you want to talk about?"
Charles exhaled softly and grew serious. "I plan to head out tomorrow—take a few of the strongest sisters with me and put an end to Xanathar, the beholder."
"Adele is almost fully recovered too, so I wanted to ask—do you want to come along? Settle things with your own hand, and avenge Adele?"
At the mention of demon business, Willo shed every trace of embarrassment, face turning grave. "Of course I'm going! I'd never sit back while demons threaten us like that!"
"Adele will come too, and if she resists I'll talk her into it. Don't worry."
For the first time in days, Charles cracked a smile. "Perfect. Then could you tell Adele—"
Willo was about to say "No problem, leave it to me," when suddenly a voice rang out from the distance: "What are you two talking about?"
They turned to see Adele sprinting over, latching on to Willo's arm and shooting Charles a look full of suspicion.
Charles kept a straight face. "We're planning a run into the sewers to take out the Xanathar cultists. You in, Adele?"
Adele turned to Willo. "Mom, are you going too?"
Willo nodded. "Absolutely. This is serious business—demon summoning is no joke. Of course I'm going."
"You should come, too. After what they did to you, it's time for payback."
Adele immediately replied, "Of course I'll go with you, Mom."
Charles nodded. "Great. Then get packed—we leave tomorrow morning."
With that, he turned and strode off. Adele stood gripping her mother's arm, thinking for a moment, then suddenly her eyes sparkled.
Just now, that guy and Mom kept a perfectly normal distance!
Not only did he not have her sitting in his lap, they hadn't even hugged like during my surprise "bust"!
What does this mean?
Clearly, Mom's finally seen through that playboy and started keeping her distance!
Ha! With him out of the way, Mom finally belongs to me, and me alone!
Ecstatic, Adele never realized the truth: long ago, her "spawn point" had already been occupied by the other side…
...
The next morning.
Inside the monastery, Charles's team was packed and ready, gearing up to head straight for the Xanathar's Old Nest in the sewers to bring the beholder to justice.
This time, the goal was to take out Xanathar personally, not to clash with the full muscle of the Guild. So Charles hadn't brought the battle nuns—instead, he brought a handful of sisters who could handle the sewers' special environment, plus Willo and Adele.
Hattie and Ruth, for example—even though the sewers weren't the open sea, they were still damp, dark, and full of water… close enough for their skills to shine.
Theresa, the strong right arm of the monastery, was with them, ready to brace everyone if things went south.
There were also Sephera and Andny—for sewers packed with toxins and vermin, there could be no better duo.
Heavy Sophia and fire-specialist Ekta (whose spells might well ignite flammable sewer gas) stayed behind to hold the fort.
Over the past week, Charles had secured a current sewer map from the South Harbor District Office. Sure, the plans were incomplete, but they'd do.
Since the city's sewers were all interconnected, they didn't need to cross half the town. They simply found a marked manhole in South Harbor District, popped the lid, and one by one, Charles led the descent into the darkness below.
