Chapter 803: Chapter 793: Terror in the Cinema (Part Four)
"Hehehe, you stinking woman, you hit me and you think you can walk away unharmed?" The burly man looked down at the woman beneath his feet, cackling strangely.
Shen Yunfang lay on the ground, barely able to breathe, the fall had not been light, her whole back was burning, and her organs felt as if they were shifting.
"Stinking woman, how dare you kick me, I’ll send you to hell." The burly man had now stopped laughing and wore a sinister expression. Lifting his leather-booted foot, he aimed a kick at Shen Yunfang.
Shen Yunfang gasped, knowing a kick could break her ribs. She quickly rolled to the side, enduring the pain, and dodged his foot.
She rolled over and stood up, facing off against the burly man.
"Who exactly are you? Do you know how dangerous it is here? You pushing forward just now could have caused a stampede; do you understand that?" Shen Yunfang looked him in the eyes and asked, mainly to buy some time for her body to recover.
She really didn’t know; she remembered that the enemies had been particularly rampant in the early days of "Jianguo", but by the seventies, which was when she had time-traveled to, they had become rare. Yet, here she was, over a decade later, facing one firsthand.
"You don’t need to know who I am, but maybe you could tell me how you magically produced that brick?" The man’s gaze grew more menacing.
Shen Yunfang’s heart skipped a beat. She had been careless earlier, thinking there was no one around, so she had casually taken items from the void. Unexpectedly, this man had been tracking them.
"Mama, Mama, hurry and jump up." Pangpang’s voice came from outside.
At that moment, Shen Yunfang’s mind was in turmoil. Her life’s secret was now known to a villain, and she was pondering what to do about it. If she let this man leave alive, whether he escaped or got caught by the police, it would be the same for her. If he revealed her anomaly to others, regardless of whether they believed it or not, her life would never know peace.
Shen Yunfang looked at the man opposite her, took a deep breath, and made a decision—this man could not be allowed to live.
Only when they engaged in actual combat did Shen Yunfang realize that her earlier success—kicking him to his knees and down—was because he had been caught off guard. His skills far exceeded hers; if not for her greater strength, she wouldn’t have lasted a few exchanges before being defeated.
Once again being thrown to the ground like a monkey, Shen Yunfang bitterly thought, in such a lawful society, she had forgotten the importance of martial strength. Guarding a man skilled in martial arts, she had become complacent with her minimal training. Being defeated so miserably now was damn frustrating.
The burly man glanced back at the fire behind him and decided not to toy with this woman any longer.
"It seems you don’t want to talk, so don’t blame me for being unkind. If you can’t be of use to us, then we’d rather destroy you than let you live," he said, lifting a leg towards Shen Yunfang’s head.
Shen Yunfang struggled to roll over, attempting to dodge the blow, but he seemed to have anticipated her move. His looming foot was nearly on her face.
Shen Yunfang instinctively closed her eyes and continued rolling to the right. She knew she couldn’t outpace the kick, but she couldn’t bear the thought of dying just yet. She had made it here through great difficulties, had just settled her preliminary affairs, and wasn’t ready for it to be over so soon.
"Bang..."
Shen Yunfang thought it was strange that she didn’t feel any pain. Why was there the sound of hitting the ground?
"Can you get up by yourself now?"
Li Hongjun’s voice reached her ears.
Shen Yunfang suddenly opened her eyes, and standing before her was indeed her own man, while the man who had just tried to kill her was now sitting on the ground.
Li Hongjun, who had just seen this man’s martial prowess through the window, knew it was formidable. Given enough time, he could handle him without a problem, but considering the flames already scorching behind, he had to make it quick.
"I’m alright." Shen Yunfang climbed up from the ground and walked behind Li Hongjun. She understood that if the man caught her and used her as a hostage, things would turn bad.
"I’m here, quickly get up there." Li Hongjun kept his eyes fixed on the man who had just stood up, wary of a sudden attack.
"Alright, be careful and finish him off quickly." Shen Yunfang didn’t dilly-dally, knowing her presence there was a burden. Without insisting on staying, she turned and started climbing over a pile of chairs.
"Don’t think about leaving." The man, seeing Shen Yunfang trying to leave and thinking of the secrets she carried, charged at her with bloodshot eyes.
Li Hongjun, unable to let him get closer, kicked out.
Shen Yunfang turned back and saw them start fighting, feeling fearful. She had never seen her man in combat and didn’t know if he could overpower the opponent.
"Stop dilly-dallying and get moving." Li Hongjun, catching a glimpse of his wife hesitating, shouted.
"You can’t leave." Instead of countering Li Hongjun’s attacks, the man desperately rushed toward Shen Yunfang, relentless in his determination to keep her.
Seeing his insanity, Shen Yunfang realized she needed to remind her husband, "We can’t let this man stay; he knows my secret."
Li Hongjun’s eyes hardened, and he engaged the man, giving his wife time to escape.
Climbing up to the window, Shen Yunfang looked back at the tangled men, the attacker’s madness, and the gradually approaching flames, growing anxious for her husband.
"Li Hongjun, catch this." Thinking quickly, Shen Yunfang pulled out the gun the thug had carried from her bag, spotted an opportunity, and threw it down. After seeing Li Hongjun catch it successfully, she fearlessly jumped out.
"Mommy, Mommy, why were you inside for so long? We came out and saw Daddy; Daddy went in to find you," Pangpang held his mother’s hand and looked around anxiously, worried about his father not coming out.
"It’s okay, your daddy will be out soon..."
"Bang..." Shen Yunfang hadn’t finished her sentence when a gunshot was heard from inside.
"Ah, that’s a gunshot, isn’t it? I’ve served in the military, I can’t be mistaken. Officer, officer, over here, over here, there’s gunfire here," a bystander was the first to react, shouting to alert the police at the entrance of the cinema.
What followed was beyond Shen Yunfang’s control; she and her child were taken to the roadside to rest, informed that if there were any injuries, an ambulance was nearby.
Shen Yunfang also briefly explained the situation inside to the police officer and made it known that her husband was a soldier, still inside struggling with the criminal.
