Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 605: Successor
"Puff!"
Lynn opened his mouth wide, spewing out a ball of flames. The flames rolled like clouds, lifting him up and flying towards the sky.
He wasn’t the only Wizard doing this; along with Magic Carpets and Flying Boats...
Hundreds of people gathered together, advancing in a grand procession.
Two days later.
A pitch-black gorge appeared at the horizon, spewing thick smoke that shrouded the sky.
Flying Demons occasionally peeked out from the smoke, their shrieks and strange cries echoing incessantly.
Abyss Rift!
"Clang..."
A sharp, piercing sound came from overhead. Jack the Gear, a Second Ring Wizard, withdrew his gaze from the Abyss Rift and spoke:
"Find a place to set up a Wizard Array, clear out the nearby Demons, and wait for people from other forces to arrive."
His voice wasn’t loud, yet everyone heard him clearly.
"Yes!"
"..."
Everyone responded, descending together.
Shadow Wizard Gloria waved her sleeve, and a Wizard Tower appeared from thin air, landing in the mountains and forests.
The Wizard Tower was dozens of meters high, standing out even amidst towering trees.
After landing, everyone set up Wizard Arrays, traps, and living quarters with the tower at the center.
When everything was ready, the Wizards entered the tower, awaiting instructions from the two Second Ring Wizards.
"This operation focuses on eradicating Abyssal Demons. If you encounter Wizards from the Abyss Cottage, kill them if you can, but don’t force it if you can’t. If you get killed, it’s your bad luck; don’t expect the academy to avenge you."
Jack the Gear, wearing a Wizard Hat and wrapped tightly in his Wizard Robe, spoke in a sharp, metallic voice:
"Additionally..."
"Although we’re working with the Demon Hunting Battle Group and the Black Witch Tower, be wary of their treachery."
"Especially the Black Witch Tower; the crazies out of there are no less than those from the Abyss Cottage."
He scratched his head, impatiently pulling off his Wizard Hat to reveal his head, a hallmark of countless gears.
Jack the Gear!
His body had undergone mechanical modification, a fusion of technology and witchcraft, making his body nearly invulnerable and him a terrifying force even among the Second Ring Wizards.
Beside him was Shadow Wizard Gloria.
This Second Ring Wizard seemed to have no physical form, swaying like a phantom on her chair.
It is said,
This is an alternative legacy.
Turning the flesh into a shadow allows one to ignore most physical attacks and also enter the Star Realm for extended times.
In short.
The further a Wizard progresses, the less human they become.
This is unlike Knights. Lynn’s original form, Carl, followed the Knight Path, and at the Fourth Tier, he still maintained his human form.
"Once everyone is here, each Wizard will lead three Advanced Wizard Apprentices, each Apprentice leading several Wizard Apprentices and Knights, each responsible for one area."
Gloria’s voice was sharp, as if being strangled:
"Next, allocate the areas you’re responsible for."
"Charles!"
"Present."
"You are responsible for the northern Swamp area." Gloria gestured, and a phantom map of the local terrain appeared, highlighting a moderate area with a red circle.
"Got it."
Charles stepped forward, nodding with a voice full of resignation.
He was already quite old, meant to enjoy retirement at the academy, but now forcibly drafted.
Considering the dangers of this mission, he couldn’t help but shudder, fearing he might die here.
"Joan!"
Gloria ignored his sentiment, continuing to speak.
"Present."
"You are responsible for this area."
"Understood."
"..."
"Lynn."
"Here."
Lynn stepped forward, but before Gloria could speak, he interjected:
"Senior, I’ve just advanced to a Wizard, my combat capabilities are low, and going against Demons would be quite dangerous."
"Hmm..." Gloria wasn’t angry, but rather looked with interest:
"Just turned sixteen and already an Official Wizard of the academy. The last one was one of my seniors."
"I do want to take care of you, but it seems inappropriate to give you special treatment in front of so many people, right?"
Uh...
This person is straightforward, or perhaps it’s just a joke?
Lynn smiled and said:
"Actually, compared to fighting, I’m more talented in potion making. I can refine three First Tier Magic Potions, and dozens of Low Tier magic medicines, with a decent success rate."
As he spoke, he placed several bottles of Potions on the table in front of him.
"Hmm?"
Gloria leaned forward, her Second Ring Wizard’s spiritual power allowing her to discern potion ingredients without touching them.
"Good!"
Before she could speak, Jack the Gear nodded:
"You can stay near the Wizard Tower to refine Potions. The academy will exchange them from you for points."
"Thank you, seniors." Lynn expressed his gratitude.
Though his abilities had improved considerably during this time, he never intended to fight Demons on the front lines.
A wise person avoids standing under dangerous walls.
Staying in the rear is the right choice!

Charles wanted to chat with Lynn, but was turned away and could only sigh as he left.
He instructed his Wizard Apprentices, then cast a Flying Spell, heading towards the Abyss Rift.
Not long after.
Amidst flickering lights, Charles landed not far from a golden tree.
Someone was already waiting beneath the tree.
"Charles!"
The figure, shrouded in a black robe, had only a pair of eerie, scarlet eyes visible.
He stared at Charles, speaking in a low voice:
"Did you get any news?"
"Yes." Charles nodded:
"But the situation’s not favorable."
"Hmm?"
"Lynn has strong alchemical talent, being a First Tier Alchemist, so he’s allowed to stay back and not join the action against the Demons."
"Alchemist?"
The mysterious man in the black robe sounded puzzled:
"A few months ago, he was just a Basic Wizard Apprentice. Advancing to an Official Wizard is one thing, but becoming a First Tier Alchemist?"
"I know what you’re thinking." Charles shrugged:
"Suspecting that Lynn has been taken over by another Wizard?"
"No, that’s been confirmed not to be the case by academy Wizards, and he showed excellent potion-making talent even before becoming a Wizard."
"Hmm..." The mysterious figure lowered his head, his voice heavy:
"He killed Jito, I should be grateful, but alas... our lineage is doomed to ’you or me.’
"Back then, Jito forced me to fake my death and hide in the Abyss Cottage for decades. Now, finally, it’s my turn!"
The thought of resolving years of grudges and the future ahead made his body tremble uncontrollably.
The Great Flame Witch Vein legacy!
Not only Jito was a descendant, but also him.
However, this lineage allows one to increase cultivation and foundation by devouring those of the same vein, so usually, only one survives each generation.
Jito was supposed to be the victor.
But now...
With Lynn’s emergence, everything changed.
He not only no longer feared Jito but could also Devour Lynn to advance his cultivation beyond its current state.
"Cesar." Charles spoke:
"Now that he’s not coming out, you can’t do anything to him."
"Don’t worry." Cesar lowered his head:
"He can’t stay inside forever, and I trust you have methods. Charles, my friend, you don’t want him alive, do you?"
Charles’ mouth twitched slightly.
Indeed.
Initially, he sold Lynn to Jito, but Jito was killed, and Lynn survived. That’s a major grudge.
With Lynn’s age and potential, he would eventually surpass him.
When that time comes...
Maybe by then Charles would have passed away naturally, but he’d have descendants who would also face Lynn’s attention.
For his own sake and his offspring’s, Charles wanted Lynn dead.
"I understand."
Sighing, Charles said:
"I’ll find a way."
